The Battle of Crete (Operation Mercury) was fought during the Second World War on the Greek island of Crete. It began on the morning of 20 May 1941 with the attack of Axis paratroopers and ended on the 1st of June 1941. Although a victory for the axis forces, the high number of casualties during the battle shocked the German Air Ministry. Adolf Hitler, believing the airborne had lost its element of surprise, reorganised all paratrooper divisions to take up ground roles for the rest of the war. Their last drop into combat was during the Ardennes offensive in 1944.

Finding ww2 Greek figs is difficult, but I have learnt in many ways to make and customise my own figs. Maybe I should do a simple tutorial posts on how to make specific minifigs and that.
It saddens me to see all the dead legos. Rest in pieces.

@@kyberstudios7358 TH-cam demonetised it, so out of frustration I made the video private until I could sort it. I didnt want to cause a fuss and tell my viewers. But now it's back up

My Grandfather was in Crete at this time. He vividly remembers seeing the German paratroopers still in their tow craft underneath the crystal clear Mediterranean beaches.
My grandfather was one of the german paratroopers in the invasion of Creta. The most died in the air and didn't even reach the ground of Creta alive. They had no weapons, only their pistols, and had to find one of the many packs of weapons first cause the K98k or MP38 were too heavy to carry them when they jumped out of the planes.

0_o peace uhhhhh..... there was a German machine gun/assault rifle called the FG 42 designed specifically for their paratroopers

My grandfather was a german Fallschirmjäger from 1940 to 1944 and fought in the battles for the greek islands, also the almost-disaster in Creta where the most died in the air and didn't even reach the ground of Creta alive. After the battle was won, my great-grandfather and other Fallschirmjäger got visit by Kurt Student, the leader of the green devils as they were also known. He later surrendered somewhere in south Italy after the invasion of the british eight army in Sicilia took place.

Great animation! Loved the story and the small but so important objective. The only thing that bugged me was that one non native german speaker, but it was fascinating to watch a axis based animation again.

The german has some mistakes but the video is still awesome
There is no mistake, if you referring to the helmets, the Fallschirmjäger (the German Airborne) wore those helmets and used the FG 42 assault rifle exclusively for them in the war.

Really good! The animation was smooth, the action well done, and I see you cut down on the cgi. Better for the most part, although I liked the lighting you had a bit better in your last films. Still really good though! Another amazing masterpiece!
Thank you. I decided I wanted to cut down the cgi as I felt it took away the idea that u were watching a stopmotion. I agree. My lights and camera are old. Going to have to invest in some new kit.

Nice fallschirmjagers also nice setting plus i do want you to do this again with same soldiers but a german and british tank too
Good detail... German Fallshirmjagers as standard procedure jumped out with really just pistols or personal side arms or submachineguns whilst gear and weapons were packed in canisters color coded which was deployed separate and was a tactical disadvantage at Crete

Good to see another Battle of Crete in LEGO I think the last video about one done was in MrPearlJack back in March 28th 2011 almost eight years ago now actually close to a decade now.
I also liked his one how a lone Staff Sergeant Feldwebel looks after a young recruit under the rank of Flieger and at Maleme Airfield the Feldwebel like dies in the Flieger’s arms I do recall but after nearly eight years we had not had any more Crete movies until now. 😀
Crete was def a battle I have been wanting to do for a long time. I kinda expected to do it from the allied perspective but so many people voted for the Germans, and I felt that doing the German perspective was something rarely seen in ww2 brickfilms. Well, good ones anyway.

Nicely done, good voice acting, even though the german sounds a bit google translated at certain points (a little lost= ein bisschen verloren, we would say verirrt oder verlaufen). Only a minor inconvenience tho.
