Back in the 1970s there was an archeologist born and bred on Kefalonia who put forwards a fairly convincing argument that Odesseyus of the Homeric legend was actually from Kefalonia and not Ithacus!I believe the documentary about this is on the net.A truly beautiful Island.Of all of the videos of the Island i have never read one single negative comment concerning Kefalonia! That is nearly impossible in an age where everyone complains about something! Amazing! ❤😊😊
Thanks for the review, it is a truly beautiful island, how easy was it to find vegan food, I noticed you mentioned it a couple of times, will be going in a couple of days, so need some recommendations 🤗
hello! and thanks for watching :) Unlike Crete, we didn't come across any solely veggie/vegan restaurants, however everywhere was accommodating, and you could ask for cheese to be excluded from a dish, for example. The place we went to on the harbour in Argostoli had a separate vegan menu (where I ate the gyros) which was lovely - though it is fake meats so depends on your stance with that. The more built up areas such as Argostoli would have a few restaurants with a small separate vegan menu, otherwise asking for dairy to be left off or picking greek dishes which are naturally vegan anyway was really easy to do. I used the app HappyCow too. Have the best time!
I have been to kefalonia 2 times and it was amazing. I have been to myrotos and even though it’s classed as the prettiest beach on the island, personally I think pentani is even most of the locals say that. That sunrise on the mountain was AMAZING 🤩. I went to the ruins In Sami and they were really pretty but as a 9 year old you have to imagine how boring I found it. I’m not sure if you do because I haven’t watched the video all yet but I went up to the castle on top of assos and the view was amazing. I went to loudass I think that’s how you spell it but the water was like blue milk because it had rained the night before. There’s a lovely restaurant called waiakiki and the food is amazing definitely recommend. I went to poros as well and I loved it. I went to fiscardo and there is some wonderful beaches there. Me and my family went to this beach and the rocks were shaped like mushrooms I think it’s called mushroom beach but at least that’s what we called it. I loved this video all in general and I would love to live in kefalonia when I’m older and I was soooooosososo sad that we had to leave the island. Thanks for the amazing video
Greece is heaven. If anyone knew how utterly diverse Greece is when you would see all throughout the mainland and then 6000 islands around it. Its just spectacular. From snow capped mountains, to geological paradises, the only natural palm forests in Europe, a whole arc of volcanos, virgin forested islands and regions, highest biodiversity in Europe wity most endemic species to anything inbetween. Kefalonia is just one paradise of Greeces collection of paradises
Hi! Thanks for this video it’s great! We are off to Kefalonia in August, staying in Lassi and hoping to drive around the island and visit some of your recommendations! Can I ask what hire car company you went with please? Thank you! 🧡
Hi! Thank you for the video, one of the best I've seen for Kefalonia.❤ One question though, how is the drive, is it steep or dangerous? I am a beginner driver and a little afraid. 😅
Thank you for watching! :) The roads arent terrible there but do get quite hilly the higher altitude you go. I hate driving on hills and I didn't find them too bad or scary on this island. there's plenty of places to pull over and enjoy the view!😍
Hi! sorry for the later reply. From where we parked to the summit is not hard and took roughly 45 and is about 1.5km one way I'd say. The path is easy to follow though we did use and AllTrails route just incase, and to help guide us for the rest of the walk too
Hi. You can park for free at the top next to the radio towers. You can simply hike to the summit and back if you wish which would take approx 1-1.5 hours depending on your fitness level. We wanted to do a long hike hence the 4 hours but there's much shorter routes around the area. I used AllTrails to find the route so perhaps look on their to find shorter routes :)
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. We stayed in Irilena Hotel in Lassi. Only small but very friendly hosts and a great location with free parking. Only 10 minute walk to the see and right near bars and restaurants :)
Yes, if you plan on exploring the island. It makes it so much easier to get around. I'm sure there are bus services but I never looked into it. And if you're staying at a resort you could book excursions which include travel, but we did it all ourselves to give us more freedom :)
You sound very immature! Great video, thanks!😅😊By the way ,your accent sounds very similar to my home town accent of Stafford.Im guessing your from not a million miles from there?😊😊

Thank you!
Great video, what a beautiful island. And I love it you showing the vegan options, that will make my decision to go there a lot easier!

Hi Jennifer!
How cold it was in Ainos early morning? I'm going there next week ☺
Did you get the ferry there from Italy?
Is there a place you can park your car when visiting Mount Ainos? Can you somehow avoid that 4-hour hike and get to peak (1628m) faster?

What temperatures you had early June ?
I'd say it was around mid-20's most days, we did have a couple of cloudy days too but it was still very warm
Is it necessary to rent a car in Kefaliona?
Yes, if you plan on exploring the island. It makes it so much easier to get around. I'm sure there are bus services but I never looked into it. And if you're staying at a resort you could book excursions which include travel, but we did it all ourselves to give us more freedom :)

It's a beautiful island - can't blame people for wanting to visit :)

Be serious I don't want to know about the kefalonia
Why watch then?
That was rude and a low-class comment ; nobody wanted you to watch and learn anyway. I thank you JR.. very nicely done.
