One thing to remember that in Genos situation, its not the moves that can bypass the death blow, its the distance. If you use any movesets on death blow (Except Speedblitz Kick), it will eventually get you since you are in the range of hit box to trigger the animation

Most likely the person used M1 right when the variant activated.
@@Strawberyybunnyboy the variant is so uncancellable that even omni directional punch (if not timed correctly) will fail to kill the death blow user as the desth blow user sis casually in the slam startup animation
Game was bugging, cuz haven't updated in some time, some server have glitchs like in some servers consecutive punches for saitama(skill2) give you an m1 reset
same I legit canceled it using my m1s when I was in an ult battle server, (4 months ago, before the latest update)

lillte bit more information: you can block the variant to not be ragdoll and take less damage

5:44 remember, you really need to be far from the metal bat to use incinerate, because it can activate the cutscene if hes close enough.

the ones that do the variant are ranged
For Genos, its ult moves can be countered by death blow if it's close to u, except speed blitz dropkick
and for metal bat, i knew the last slam of brutal beatdown bypasses death counter also, my opponent didn't know that so i laughed so hard when he didn't move while i was winding up the final slam

To put it simple, moves that RAGDOLL your opponents cancels the Death Blow, moves that put your opponent in some sort of ANIMATION bypasses Death Blow.

you forgot to include that death blow used near a person using incinerate actually plays the cutscene
basically if you were far away incinerate would bypass but if you were close then the cutscene would play
Btw you dont need to list the downslam finishers for each characters because theyre all the same

you have to say something about some of the moves that can be death blowed up close, cause some players will die if some are used up close, like stone coffin and terrible tornado

if youre too close with some of the moves, you will be death blowed anyway
I belive if a move affects the ground (so like raises the ground and launches other players) it cancels the death blow

Also final hunt cancels it entirely but if someone hits the user using death blow they will have Invincibility frames I never knew that some moves can trigger it I thought it had a windup time (I edited that)

Cutscene only activates if you are close to them and if it isn't a slam move.
Why so many "Downslam finisher" all character have the same downslam finisher
theres 4 different variants of the downslam finisher

Hey, theres a bug With ninja twin blade rush, if you land it at death blow (in the last frame of the running animation), i think that you should bypass it (it wont cancel the blow, but it Will trigger the variant. I GUESS
atomic slash also can counter death counter too:p

In fact, Split Second Counter can "cancel" the death blow with the slash hit if the death blow user isn't the target (But the other player is) and he is standing near the target of SSC, then it will bypass the Death Blow and basically cancel it, HOWEVER, if someone else hits the Death Blow user right after it gets cancelled, it will still activate the cutscene which is weird.

i problem i had with this is that metal bat death blow is suppose to be close ranged also metal bat can beat most the moves if it is closer and actually lands on them so if you were to do thunder kick on metal bat actually landing it on the metal bat it would death blow. (same with incinerate and blitz shot if youʻre in right infront of them then it would counter) youʻre also mainly doing the impacts which doesnʻt work on almost every counter cause its not directed at them which it needs to be the actual attack landed, even if its far ranged if you do the attack very close to the metal bat(m1 range atleast) then it would probably work

Metal bat is actually good but is the most skilled character in the game due to their reliance on loop dash tech. Given that it is fulfilled they can do insane combos, having 1 true extender(grand slam both variations), 1 flexible move (beatdown can be used to start, extend or end a combo) as well as homerun and foul ball having their own useful teches. Ultimate has the 3rd best move in the game, being Savage Tornado doing good damage, combos into the remaining 3 and super easy to hit. Death Blow makes attacking Metal Bat Ultimate risky as you can get countered any time, as well as being usable during the startup of other moves.
Skill issue, Metal Bat has the most insane combos in the game.
