    Awesome video! Don't love relying on the RPT. Makes me feel better about the R10's ability to produce pretty good data including shot shape with regular premium balls. I wonder how the MLM2 would fair using premium balls outside (with more space) into a net 🤔

    • @hjlamb
      @hjlamb ปีที่แล้ว

      I would imagine it works better outside because it can measure the shot further but it's probably highly dependent on the distance to the net. I haven't tried it but David Maxfield posted a video testing on a range and it was showing the same shot shapes as he was hitting.

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Hosel Rocket!! Thanks mate yes I feel like they need to add an algorithm like Garmin do... Give us a bit of estimated club path and face to path. And then they would be able to at least give us an estimated spin axis indoors. I love the RPT balls ability to measure everything and for a hardcore golfer like me I will always just pay the sub and get that. I feel like they are cutting quite a few people out of their market that would otherwise consider it over the R10.
      Outdoors on a range this thing is super accurate with shot shape and I love the shot tracer you get after each shot.

    Great test Joe,
    You can buy stickers that work, about a dollar each, but that could come down. Makes sense that since the longer clubs generate less spin the difference would be less. I can’t see enough difference to change from my R10. As you said in one of your replies, this personal launch monitor technology is changing fast, many new devices to come. In the end the regular golfer will be able to set up a simulator and get an enjoyable experience to add to and improve his or her game.
    Cheers

      Yes I'm talking to a guy now who makes the stickers and trying to get some for the channel to review or if not I'll end up just buying some I'm sure. I've never really been a Callaway ball person. They make great golf balls but I just know the Pro V1 so well and how it reacts and spins in every situation I couldn't see myself switching golf balls. Yeah the R10 has proven time and time again it's a great device! Especially when paired with 3rd party software like awesome golf. I think the MLM2PRO has a long way to go before the software extracts all the potential of the hardware.. but I'm hopefully it will eventually happen! 🤞🤞🤞🤞 And I can't wait for a GS Pro connector lol 😂.

    Great video. Happy to give it a like. Question. Do you find that the R 10 is better than this unit for lower lights? I’m looking to use it in a garage primarily.

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate thanks for that! So the Garmin R10 is a radar unit only and as such light has no effect whatsoever. You could use it in pitch black or in the day. I need to confirm this 100 percent with Rapsodo but I believe the MLM2PRO uses the radar for detection and only uses the cameras for spin and spin axis. So therefore you would need light for the unit to see and capture the videos for spin and also the swing vision camera.
      The manual does say use the MLM2PRO in a well lit area but in my testing I can have minimal light over my hitting area like you see in my videos and it performs really well apart from the no reads... But even with all my lights on I still had no reads.
      I'll try and get something definitive from Rapsodo for a future video!

      Hey Kevin I haven't tried the swing caddie SC4 so can't really comment on that unit.. I did reach out to them but unfortunately heard nothing back. I tried to get a unit for testing... Hopefully they respond to one of my emails.
      As for the other 2 launch monitors. The MLM2PRO is incredibly accurate in my testing and has a LOT of potential however at this point in time the software is really holding it back. The chipping is really not good at all so for simulation play right now it isn't great.. e6 is supposed to be launching this month so will see how that goes. If you're after a unit that is incredibly accurate on full swings with the correct spin axis indoors and out then the MLM2PRO is your launch monitor.. and then just wait for Rapsodo to sort out their software and app!!!! And not to forget you have to pay a yearly subscription!
      If you want a device right now that is going to give you the best simulator experience as in connection to GS Pro and a 90 percent solution indoors with spin axis and no ongoing subscription fees then the R10 is your launch monitor. In my testing the R10 when aligned correctly is a very accurate unit and I have used it a LOT!!
      How that helps mate!

    Very cool and expected. I haven't tried the MLM2 into a net/screen yet, but I was VERY impressed with the shot shape accuracy outside on a range. Like i haven't fooled it yet (where say it would show a fade but my ball visually drew). It's always surprisingly accurate with range balls in terms of shape. Maybe when selecting the range (vs net) mode programs the radar to "watch" it for longer? The delay in shot is longer too - im guessing so.

      @jazzamac3796 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Joe Lagowski Golf comparing to our simulator at our local golf club which is about golf. Think almost identical to GC quad. Could it possibly be the lighting in the simulator?

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jazzamac3796 Does about golf estimate spin? Each one of these softwares is going to give carry distance based on an algorithm so they all aren't going to match perfectly. That being said they should be within a few yards of each other.. especially if the about golf has been tested and verified against the GC QUAD. I know the QUAD and MLM2PRO are pretty much identical in terms of carry distance. Jay from GSV does a great comparison showing this.
      TBH it could be a number of things.. but to my knowledge I believe the MLM2PRO uses the radar to calculate ball speed and VLA. The only metrics the cameras provide is spin and spin axis. I could be wrong on this.. there isn't a lot of in depth information explaining how the MLM2PRO works and I get it as that's their algorithm and hardware.
      Spin would definitely play a factor in carry distance! I would try and test with the RPT and see how the results compare. As for light in the room as far as I'm aware again I could be wrong I think the unit only needs the light for the cameras (spin and spin axis). I know it says it needs to be used in a well lit room in the manual but radars don't need light... Only cameras.
      Try with the RPT balls and let me know how you go! I'm going to try contact Rapsodo and see if I can get some more in-depth manuals to explain how the unit works.

    • @jazzamac3796
      @jazzamac3796 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Joe Lagowski Golf yeh it estimates spin but i didn't have the RPT balls for the simulator to pick it up. The reason it was strange is because the ball speed and club speed were identical. It wasn't very well lit room at the time but I shall take the balls with me next time and see if their is any difference.
      At the range and in the simulator my irons were spot on. Only seems to be the driver, hybrid and Woods where there is a difference. The MLM2 had me at 257 metres simulator around 273 metres. This was on all shots with the driver.

If anyone knows of anything that wouldn't mark my screen that could bring them back to life let me know! If they start giving the numbers away for free even if calculated that would defeat their model. It's the most annoying thing with this unit. Use our balls and pay subscription or you won't get what you are really after...lol

      Thanks TOP GUN. Yeah I totally agree with your comment for their business model it doesn’t make sense for them to give estimated spin axis data. However I would also argue at lease give us the estimated spin number you are using. Also it could potentially hurt sales for them just thinking from a users point of view.. If they offered what Garmin offered and then had the option for measured spin with the RPT balls it would then beat the Garmin hands down. Because you would essentially get an R10 with the option of paying the subscription for measured data.. most people once they have it will pay to upgrade. Hahah eventually they will crack and want the measured data lol.

But I didn't try out the RPT down and then switch it out for a premium ball before hitting. I am pretty sure it won't work but I'll give it a go next time!

      @@JLagGOLF That is very cool of you to do that. To me it clears up that question for all. Unless someone like you will try it, no one will know and would have to guess and this will save possibly a lot of golfers from getting one and being disappointed possibly. Thanks again for what you do here! Its helps greatly!
