- In this video, you will learn how to produce biochar from date palm fronds waste in the lab pyrolysis process.
Pyrolysis conditions: Temperature (500 C, 1h and 10 C/min)
Biochar is a carbon-rich product and can be used for soil conditioner, water and air purification and construction applications
Nice and informative 👍👍
Nice
Nice explanation
Thanks
Ok
I used charcoal powder (below 500micrometer) as an adsorbent to remove colour. It is removing colour but the solution becomes turbid or a bit cloudy because the charcoal mixed with the solution even after using whatman no 1 filter paper. Do I need to change the filter paper to whatman GF/B type? That's my question.
You should wash the powder very well with deionized water and then wash wash with acetone . You can use vacuum filtration using cellulose acetate or centrifuge it
I need it for my project in university sir this is good
OK so what kind of videos you want please tell
Biochar prolysis in lab
OK we will shoot again and upload
@@materialsandtechnology8956😊 can u shoot within 41 hours
Sir once I have attempted to produce biochar with some kind of leaves. but the result was white powder. I dont know where it went wrong
They probably got burned with oxygen, that creates ashes instead of biochar.
Can you please upload the video related to characterization of biochar
Sure we will add
Sir, you said it takes 50 minutes to reach 500 degree and the furnace was kept in furnace for 1 hour under 500 degree. so the sample was kept in the furnace for a total 50+60=110 minutes?
it is the waiting time for reaching 500 degree c
Hey, can we use crucible covered with the aluminium foil for biochar formation, in place of iron rod. Thankyou@@materialsandtechnology8956
sir, why are there holes in the tube? Also how can we ensure that the atmosphere is oxygen limited? Also can I use crucible bowl without any lid?
To have burning in unlimited air
The combustion creates fumes/gases. The holes allow these gases to go out and be inhaled by the lab-oven.
We use fume hood for flushing out gases from the oven, don't burn it in the open lab

Are anoxic conditions possible in this furnace to ensure pyrolysis?
Not possible, for this we need to use tubular furnace. However, this furnace can be modified to provide inert conditions
sir may i know about stainless steel properties that you used.and i need to know why there is hole in tube?
The tubes are made of stainless steel so as to avoid contamination and holes are provided for burning in partial air or o2. Also it is burnt in limited air supply not in nitrogen or argon gas
Sir in biochar making more ash content will produced that is biochar or not pls suggest me
You can prepare hydrochar as it has lower ash content as compared to biochar
Ok sir but i will do project on biochar also so pls suggest me biochar making process my process is I was taking some tree bark washed with distilled water and dry it make a powder this is taken in a silica crucible pyrolysis at 600 degrees at 3hrs is this wrong process or not pls suggest me 0:10
@golaganitriveni1660 dear you need a stainless tube with some perforation or holes for making biochar , other parameters like burning or pyrolysis time and temperature depends upon your objective
Tq sir for ur suggestions
I want do project on biochar new material pls suggest
Dear student please email msmanzar@iau.edu.sa
Assalamualaikum
Can u give your video without voice and music
Walaikum assalam sure in our next videos thanks for your advice and feedback
Hi sir pls list of materials for making biochar
You can make biochar or activated carbon from agricultural feedstock like fruit peel or tea waste or tree leaves etc
hey, ihave beech wood flakes which I have purchased online, Can i follow this process without drying it under sun and fine grinding.
No you need to dry it , grind it too also can you add its picture so that I can comment on it
