ALL FF8 characters have interesting kits, Rinoa is a healer who does double strike and off-element limit, Irvine has his Sniper on Standby that does these added strikes to everyone (IIRC Bartz does so as well) and Squall's entire main class moveset is decent, even if they completely screwed up the lore for all three of them (Squall's Renzokuken is his LB, Rinoa throws her dog around and... doesn't use Earth spells that much, and Irvine uses ammo and not dark magic).
Well said, you have to enjoy the game and the units that you have. Hyoh didn’t break the meta or anything but I am building him because he’s my boy. I knew Raph was gonna make it on the list and I love her, she’s been good to my dark squad.
My most favourite unit this year is definitely Dialdo. Does a surprising amount of damage for a tank and wind teams were having a hard time with him. But most importantly for me,he "expanded" the usability of Halloween Lucia's VC(and special mention to Jayden the Celebrated as well for being the other magic spear unit).

I went into this expecting Squall at least top 5. If I was ranking the 10 units you included I'd probably put him at #9, but you're absolutely right, it's all about using the units you enjoy. If you do go back and do this for previous years, I can cry sad tears about Fryevia not making the cut, lol
Although I know is a tedious work, I would love an "all UR units mini breakdown". I've started the game a week ago and found that there is very few content about it. I would love to get familiarized with how each units plays and their prototype teams, since this game lacks a proper in game archive. Should you feel encouraged to face this challenge, me, and I think all the newbies to this game, will really appreciate the info. Still a wonderful video and go team Squall!! He´s my boy too!

It's really tough to do even that since depending on your VCs you may be totally unworkable even with the units for that team. For example, I have almost all the main water units but can't do some teams since missing some of the water unit VCs that let me pull some of it off. Almost better to build around your VCs in some cases, plus depends what you are trying to play against or counter. For example, OG Glaciela wrecks fire evade and can counter Sol, but I'd never use her against other teams XD
I have almost the same rankings, lol. NGL, was getting super burned out of the game until they announced ff8 (my favorite ff game of all time) and now we're getting ff9 as well. Returning to pulling for fun instead of meta is refreshing. PVP is still a thing for me because guild duties but playing wotv for fun is the way to go, less negative feelings and feels bad, no fomo to worry about. FF8 saved this game for me.
Im not a fan and never even watched her videos because i rarely use Tiktok, but dang that hate on Addison Rae unit is uncalled for. People forget we have Ariana Grande and Katy Perry at FFBE.

I'd love a video about how to do the mission to transcend Lucio! I lose every time and I have plenty of truststones and perfect build equipment, but still get shut down in 5 turns. Very frustrating. Still sad that they didnt do a new mechanic rather than revive and guts mechanic that when a unit dies lets say Sephiroth, he comes back and becomes one winged angel and changes soundtrack on PVP or PVE and the skills change as well, too OP? NAHH thats how Sephiroth is supposed to be!
Sol left the chat. Farris made it to the list but Sol is nowhere hahaha jk. am surprised Bartz did not make it as well. I still think Bartz is a lot better than Farris. Farris needs glaciela but bartz only need atk and man eater and not another fully built unit. my bartz defense never get below 2x defense every day in GB. even against alaya or bradley or sephiroth. Fire evasion is another thing tho but gladly they arent attacking me ahhaah. also especially bartz is free so the value vs cost is so much more compared to like pulling for farris. but yeah addison is strong. she's with bartz in my defense haha
