    Tim, this video was very helpful. One thing you didn’t mention, but that I think is significant, is that the deck dolly puts the deck at a nice height for cleaning, lubrication, and blade removal.

    Thats a purty nice dolly attatchment for the mower deck. I put the gauge wheels down far enough & lock em in place to where the deck itself has enough ground clearance space, then i pick up the front metal guide bale & move the mower deck around on the rear guide wheels.
    Other times, i just slide my pallet forks under the mowerdeck, pick it up, & move it with tractor. . . . .depending on what im doin & why.
    I ususally try to line up & store all my "tractor tools" & the tractor against the floor wall on the west side of my shop outtuh the way, so ive got the open space for other jobs & projects.
    Awesome video & love the kitty. Take care & God bless

    I have a stump grinder from quick attach that I bought a set of dollies for a snowmobile. It came with 3 metal dollies about 8” square. I put 2 under the bar that mounts on the 3 point and 1 under the removable stand back by the gear box. I can now push it over to the side of my garage.
    To connect it I just lower the 3 point and push the stump grinder up to the tractor. No lining it up moving the tractor.

    I have a whole pile of broken Harbor Fright dollys and have upgraded over the years. I love the Artillian fork/bucket dolly. I've stored both the forks and bucket at the same time and am always surprised how easy it is to roll it around. I bought the factory J.D. snowblower dolly and wished I had done it years ago. It's at the best height for install and very stable. And finally, I can recommend snowmobile dollys for your landscape blades. They are stable and designed for a heavyweight. Just my 2 cents!

    Tim, One slight modification for you to try on your loader storage, I came up with this a couple years back as I was really tight on storage space. If you get 2 more small furniture dollies; remove the bucket from the loader and put it on a large furniture dolly, then put 2 small dollies under the booms on the loader and the third under the kick stand. When you remove the loader from the tractor, 'raise' the loader all the up (extending the kick stand) and this will allow for enough room to store the bucket the bucket 'inside' the loader the frame between the boom arms and the kickstand. This was my way to save a lot of room during storage

    I know that I'm a little late with this comment but here it is anyway. I have a 2007 2305 J.D. with a 260 backhoe. I ran two 1×4's between the two dollies and I had to screw two 4×4's on the sides of the bigger dolly for the backhoe frame to miss the boom but it works like a charm. I'm 71 years old and I can take my backhoe off and on in a couple of minutes and move it around with no problems. Full disclosure: I did get the idea from another TH-cam channel that had a 260B backhoe but I modified it to fit mine.

    Tim after Hurricane Zeta I have a bunch of 4x4 post that could be easily turned into Heavy Duty carts for heavy attachments. Since this Hurricane I have turned them into a firewood shed along with some of my fallen fence. So these post and some HD casters from northern tool and it is easy to create a HD Cart. Had to do something my deductible because it was a named storm went up 5xs the normal cost.
    All you have to do is step cut or use a datto blade to remove 50% or 1 3/4" by 3.5 off each end then Lincoln log stack the ends use a 4 1/2 inch long bolts, and flat washers, pre drill using what ever size bolt you are using, then from the opposite side take a 3/4 or 1 inch spade bit drill down 3/8 to 1/2 inch this is for the flat washer and head of the bolt to counter sink into. These are to hold caster and overlapped 4x4 post together.

    I purchased a Deck Dolly for my 54 D inch deck last fall and love it. Hot tip, get the extra long handles on the dolly. Great video on how to use. Getting the deck up from 45 degrees to 90 degrees takes a little muscle, but is doable. I store my deck in my garage along the wall, works great. Good discussion on the gear box weeping hole, I wondering what size it was. Thanks for posting. If I ever get a pole barn, it will have a smooth floor and I’ll get some moving dollies.

  • @cwolf8841
    @cwolf8841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Deck Dolly works very well. I did upgrade the wheels on mine.
    My experience is the furniture dollies fall apart. Realizing there is wide variability in quality.
    Another approach is to fabricate two-layer plywood dollies with caster wheels. Get large heavy duty casters (bigger wheels roll better). Paint the dolly with truck bed paint or Line-X. This makes it very easy to move heavy attachments around in the garage or shed.
    For something like the ballast box (which tends to slide off a flat dolly when pushed) you can screw 2x4 blocks on to center it. Or to level up odd shaped implements.
    I haven't tried putting pallets on dollies, but that could work.
    There are also steel car mover dollies. These vary widely by features and cost. Still generally better than furniture dollies.

      Load and Go seems like a nice option. I move my older 62D deck with the loader by removing the bucket from the loader and putting the arms up over the deck. Then I run a logging chain (3/8" grade 40 5,400lb chain) through the two bucket attachment points on the loader and through the two lift points/posts on the deck. Handy for moving/sharpening/cleaning and free since I already have the chains.

    Will eventually build a shed to store my attachments, but as a catch 22 I need the 1025r to help build it (digging for the foundation). My single car garage is pretty small and my guess is I'll have to lift up the loader bucket and set it on the John Deere tractor wagon I have parked at the back of the garage. Then by turning the backhoe to the side I may fit everything in. The mower deck will become a permanent drive-over so it would be stored under the tractor (on the floor) right where I disconnected it.

    Found this video interesting. That deck dolly is pretty cool. Love seeing these things as it's hard to discover all the cool toys when you don't know they exist. Got any tips on storing really LARGE implements? My Land Plane and Inverted Blower are both 7+ feet wide and 1000 lbs. Right now they just live on pallets next to the driveway.
    You were asking for people to tell you about other uses of their tractor. Well, we got our first real snow of the season this past weekend. So, I finally got a chance to try the Inverted Blower. While I only had about 3" on the driveway, it was that really heavy wet snow (rain that turned to snow at about 33 degrees, so barely able to be snow.) Add to that berms that slid off the roof in front of the garage and this stuff was like concrete. Which is why I'm so amazed how well the tractor blower did. I did a little with the Ariens 10hp walk-behind and it had a heck of a time even biting into the berm. This would have been a marathon event if I'd had to have cleaned it up with the walk-behind. In fact, the next morning the slush had frozen, and the inverted blower was able to break up the ice fairly well too. I guess weight and power can do good things. I can just imagine how far this will throw "normal" snow.
    I had my son video the first run so I could review after the fact. You have to realize that this was the first time I'd run this implement other than testing that it functions. Still, I'm shocked how well this implement worked. The tractor is a 1968 Ford 5000. (67 hp) The blower is a Provonost P-INV-80. It's a long video and I'm sorry my son shot it vertical, but you get an idea of what these things can do.

    Good morning TTWT you don't need to plug the vent tube off wind it leaks just replace whit a new vent . Come summer time wind you mow and got the vent hole plug off the gear box will get hot and build pressure blow the seal out on the gear box. So never plug off a vent hole .

I have an Kubota so I'm very jealous of the load and go....they need to get on that STAT! Speaking of which....what is a good tool (besides a power washer) get ALL of the dirt/grass/rot off the deck? How about pallets and a pallet jack? You can still use a small dolly for the foot of the FEL, but the rest could go on a pallet and move easier with the pallet jack (assuming the floor is smooth).

    Can you “rack” front end attachments? I’m thinking of building a “shelf” above so I can put my bucket, above my grapple. I’m confident I can build it strong enough but idk if I’ll be able to get it off 3-4ft in the air.

    HYDRAULICS.. good morning Tim. During your video I noticed Deer Johnny in the background and your bucket was off the ground by about a foot (probably staged for disconnecting) but your rear attachment was also in it's up position. (Not assuming you leave it like that when not in use)
    My question is, isn't it both safer and better for the hydraulics to be parked with everything in the down position? The safety would be foremost. My older Ford when not running will drop the bucket if someone were to shift the lever. Same with the rear attachment. Does Johnny have any kind of safety lock out that prevents the bucket or rear attachments from lowering when it isn't running? And isn't it actually bad for the hydraulics to leave them up with the pressure on them?
    I know tractors have come a long way and I'm considering the options of putting a Deer to work on my place but it would need to be the next size up from Johnny. I know you've done videos doing comparisons but if you were purchasing a new tractor for your place and you needed one just a bit larger than Johnny. Which one of his kin folk would you get?
    Thanks Tim.

    What is the quick disconnect for the hydraulic hoses?

  • @codyshortt4469
    @codyshortt4469 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vent Hole - The vent on any gearbox, axle, transmission, engine, etc. is to allow for the air inside to expand and contract during temperature changes from outside conditions and the heat generated during use. The hole MUST BE on the top to allow air to escape or the extra volume of air will push the oil out the submerged hole. The Ideal Gas Law slightly modified is V = T ; the Volume of air in the gearbox is proportional to the Temperature / the Volume of a gas increases as the Temperature increases (pressure is basically constant, and only looking at the same number of molecules - "P", "n" and "R" from The Ideal Gas Law cancels out as 1's). When the temperature fluctuates, each time it warms up, some of the internal volume will displace oil out of the vent hole submerged in oil and subsequently the gearbox would suck air in each time it cools off.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it doesn’t need to be vented while in storage.
