I very much enjoyed seeing the setup for the new irrigation system. This is worth the time it took to install as not only a time-saver weekly, but also more even watering.
I had a pair of rabbit hide mittens when I was small. they were my absolute best, and warmest!!! I would love a pair now, however, I am allergic to the pelt but I still enjoy the meat!!! Despite the allergies I have, my dream is to have my own mini homestead to help offset the cost of depending on stores.
i love your videos, they are very informative and real life! I have been wanting to put in an irrigation system for our raised beds, i hate watering, and you made it look simple to do. Thank you, for showing each step in a way i could follow! We had our first snow today (Ontario, Canada) so i have plenty of time now to plan it out, lol.
Fresh dill just gives everything and added zing! Congratulations on getting the drip irrigation installed! You just saved yourself a boat load of time each week. I enjoyed watching you get everything hooked up. You and your family have a Safe, Happy Thanksgiving!!🦃🙏❤🇺🇸
I really felt that when you said a messy house is a sign of a busy life. I would rather do ANYTHING outside than housework, though I do try to keep my house cleanish😂 I had to rearrange all of my projects for Thanksgiving since we will have lots of family here, and I just said to my husband last night that I love, love, love having everyone together but I wish that didn't mean I had to spend so much time and energy worrying about what they will think if my mantle is dusty!
This was super helpful! I have never done drip irrigation. Thank you! I think it is so cool when you show how you have cooked the rabbit! I love that your kiddos like it so much
Good morning Heather & farm fam ❤ The greenhouse looks amazing! Will you be installing a timer on the drip system? Have you had any issues with water remaining in the lines? We get so cold here, we can’t leave any hoses hooked up. It seems like some water always remains in the loops even though we have frost free hydrants. Have a great day!
Timer's I've frozen but never the lines. For the timer to work the bib needs to be left open and I'm bad about remembering to shut it off before a freeze. When the water is shut off the water backs through the line back into the ground where it stays liquid, residual in the lines has never caused an issue here, I assumed there was always room for expansion.
The greenhouse is looking so lush and green! It’s amazing how long it takes to water! I’d love to do irrigation though my whole garden but it just hasn’t been a priority yet. Maybe next year!
Your greenhouse is looking amazing as always Heather. Thanks for showing us how you set up your irrigation system. I have been thinking about this system for some time now and think I am going to try to see if I can get things for a high tunnel of sorts together this spring if my health cooperates. Dinner looked yummy! Thanks for sharing what you do with us.
Watched this twice today, yay! First watch was during my brief lunch break on my phone, so didn't comment until watched it again and could post properly. Greenhouse looks amazing and adding in this irrigation is going to make life better for you for sure. When you said 2 hours, I was like...hmmmmm I dunnooo. Hahaha. Even at 4-5 hours that is super well time invested! Next year/bed reset all of it will be in place, just maybe have to quickly flip the tubing to side of the bed briefly while amending and then pin it back in place after? I bet some of the sprayer hole areas you could tape over with like duct tape and then either just let the water escape or prick a hole through the tape with a pin vs replacing whole sections for one hole being slightly larger? Dinner looked fabulous, nomnom to zhuzhed up salads! 💚🥬🥗🥬💚
Oh that's a great idea with the tape! Thanks I'll probably try that first. Yes the tubing can be moved off the bed for amending and placed back, so glad I finally went out and put it all in!
Hey, Heather! As you’re working through your drip watering system for the raised beds, you may want to consider adding the ‘Spring System’ for your GreenStalk vertical planter! I have 2 in that beautiful Glacier blue color and they just started offering the lids with the ‘Spring’ to match! They’re having a Black Friday sale right now for 25% off! 🦃❤️🦃❤️🦃 Happy Thanksgiving, Dear Lady! I thoroughly enjoy your channel… even though, I don’t have goats - I have chickens and gardens! Thank you so much for every bit of your content!!! 🦃🦃🦃
Yummy looking supper. Roasted radishes..I have heard of that but never tried it. Yesterday I rendered 9 cups of tallow from 8.25lbs of beef fat. Had to buy the fat, I guess gone are the days of getting it free. Great Video Heather!! 💜👍💜 Aunt Beth
@SageandStoneHomestead yes, many years ago most grocery stores had a proper meat counter. The butcher did all the cutting and wrapping of the meat. You could ask him to save you beef or pork fat. You would ask for X amount of a brown paper bag, like half a bag. At that time I was not rendering tallow or lard. What we used it for was to go into the deer grind. Beef fat into the burger. Pork fat into the sausage. It got alot harder to get ahold of as the years marched on. They started to ask 'how many pounds' you wanted. Then finally they started charging for it. This time I paid 1.50 a pound. Ridiculous IMO, but it is what it is.
I'm definitely going to scroll through your Amazon storefront and see if I can find this moisture meter gauge that you have. This will help me so much next growing season.
How many rabbits does it take to feed a family of 6? I'm not trying to be nosy, just curious, what are your kids doing while you are outside filming or doing farm chores?? I live in a small town on a small piece of land(less than 1/2 an acre), and my kids have plenty to do, but they always want to be on electronics. I am not doing very well at this parenting thing.😢 I love watching your channel.❤
This was filmed on Sunday and my husband was home and able to entertain the kids while I worked in the greenhouse. A LOT of times this is the case when I have a bigger project going on. Otherwise our kids are pretty self-sufficient. They play well together most of the time and they have their own chores to occupy them. They like to read and write their own stories, set up puppet shows, build with old pallet wood and they do watch TV too. My youngest is 7 and having older kids helps for sure. For this dinner I cooked two rabbits and there were leftovers that were able to be used the next evening :)
@SageandStoneHomestead also I love the confidence in your ability and know how to do all of these things by yourself. I want to be a homesteader and be able to do most of it myself, but I don't have the confidence, and my husband isn't really interested in it. He is also in home renovation like your husband.

Yes! And it will allow me to do things like weed and pick bugs/treat for bugs while irrigating. Time saver for sure.

That's the thing too, I try not to surround myself with folks who would worry about that. Tough when it's family though!!
Fascinating. Thank you. So happy that you're Greenhouse is now irrigated. I'm very jealous
