এ বছর দলের সপ্তম জাতীয় কাউন্সিল করতে চায় বিএনপি। এজন্য দায়িত্বশীল নেতাদের দু'মাসের মধ্যে ৮২টি সাংগঠনিক জেলা ও অধিভুক্ত উপজেলার মেয়াদোত্তীর্ণ কমিটি পুনর্গঠনের কাজ শেষ করার নির্দেশনা দেয়া হয়েছে। এছাড়া বিতর্কিত ও অনুপ্রবেশকারীদের ঠেকাতে জেলা ভিত্তিক আলাদা কমিটিও করছে বিএনপি। দলের শীর্ষ নেতারা জানিয়েছেন, গেলো ১৫ বছর নানাভাবে অবদান রাখা নেতারা গুরুত্ব পাবেন কাউন্সিলে। তবে নির্বাচনের আগের কাউন্সিলে দলে কতটা পরিবর্তন আসবে-তা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন আছে? আরেফিন শাকিলের রিপোর্ট।
লাখো মুসল্লি অংশ নিলেন বিশ্ব ইজতেমায় জুমার নামাজে। রাজধানীসহ আশপাশের জেলা থেকে তুরাগ তীরে যান মুসল্লিরা। ময়দান ছাড়িয়ে পাশের সড়ক, ফুটপাত ও অলিগলিতে নামাজ আদায় করেন অনেকে। ইমামতি করেন, বাংলাদেশি মাওলানা জুবায়ের আহমেদ। ইজতেমায়, ঈমান-আমল শুদ্ধ করা এবং মানুষকে ইসলামের পথে আহ্বানের তালিম দেয়া হচ্ছে। রবিবার আখেরি মোনাজাতে শেষ হবে প্রথম ধাপের প্রথম পর্ব। ইজতেমায় এ পর্যন্ত দুই মুসল্লির মৃত্যুর খবর পাওয়া গেছে।

Lakhs of devotees participated in the Friday prayers at Bishwa Ijtema. Devotees from the capital and surrounding districts went to the banks of Turag. Many people offered prayers on the roads, sidewalks and alleys beyond the Maidan. Bangladeshi Maulana Zubair Ahmed led the prayer. In the Ijtema, training is being given to purify faith and deeds and to call people to the path of Islam. The first phase of the first phase will end with the final prayer on Sunday. Two deaths have been reported from the Ijtema so far.
