Hi. I just love your videos. I’ve learned a lot with them. I’m over 70 and I began to draw for about 4 years ago. “It’s never too late”😊. Yes, you’re right, it hasn’t to be perfect, important is just have fun.
Wow, I had to pause this video to write down "The bad art is what you climb on to get to the good art", inspired by what you said. Thank you so much for your inspirational words :)
When I was young, the blank flat surface worried me a lot. I knew there was lightning in my hands, but flat? No. Forty years later, I learned what my medium was: carving. Some potential artists have only to find their ideal medium to crack the ice. Mine was in three dimensions, not two.
I'm Brazilian and I'm learning English. And I love drawing. And I felt so good seeing your videos and understanding every word you're saying, you have such a good voice!
Damn Google algorithm is doing its job so well it's almost magic. just had this convo with a friend who told me almost the same things a few hours ago. Thanks :)
When I was a kid I used to just draw and paint. As an adult now working on a video game (as a hobby), I've lost the ability to put pencil to paper and create any game art! Arghh. I love your method for mentally separating the creative and the critic!! This has changed my outlook so thank you!
Thank you for making this. This is the kind of stuff every artist/creative knows but needs to be reminded of, it's very easy to forget, especially in this decade of hyper-commidfied art and social pressure to monetize every hobby. The internet needs more stuff like this and less rage bait and AI slop I especially appreciate this because I've been making an effort with this stuff in drawing and music but weirdly I've still been creatively stifled with my Gamedev stuff, which is especially weird because I make art and music with my computer too. Guess I need to think of Unreal Engine more like I think of Krita :P
I get much from your encouraging words to the point that I have started the doodle of the day, what a change . Sometimes it’s a couple of days. I see something that inspires me and I begin to draw and if I have to capture it on my phone, so what, I can work on it, if I feel like it. What a game changer calling what I enjoy doing “doodling.”The same thing I did in my childhood. So thanks!
Thank goodness I’ve never had a lost of ideas where I can’t create something. When I’m stuck I go back to where I started and refresh my mind to get a recharge. I’m a big kid at heart and never lost my sense of humor so I create for me from the view point of having fun and exploring my potential. This allows me to create stuff that surprises me.
Hey Danny, once again: THANK YOU SO MUCH! This video again is so helpful. Especially the idea with the two rooms for creative part and the critic. I love your videos and all the ideas you share!🙏🏼🙃❤
I am really glad I found you 😊 thank you so much for being the inspiration for alot of art lovers ❤ I wish to draw better and I believe I will be able to do it because of your help so thanks once again 😄
This video reminds me of the book that you wrote, The Creative License : Giving Yourself Permission To Be The Artist You Truly Are. Seems to be an extension of it. Love that vibe. ( Also that book changed my life when I read it as a younger person.) This video was a big help.❤
Funny thing is I watched this video because I wanted to get some motivation to start sketching , then I realized what you are saying can be applied to my life and my career. Thanks a lot for great advice
I loved hearing that my creations might help others. So often I tell myself that creating my own art is pointless and maybe a waste of time. If I consider that maybe my art would help someone else, that might be what I need to justify the time and money spent on it. Thank you for this.
I heard your noise that says you don't like what you have done when drawing food with a friend. I was taken aback as I had seen your paintings in the packing cardboard from your move, I loved the style that you used. This makes me keep watching.
Thank you very much, I feel as though my judge is so wounded and upholding this identity of potential that they’ll always prevent me from being fulfilled.
Those were some inspiring words.. Seriously, I have been fighting with art lately and really just wondering what am doing and if I really was meant to do this.. It was a great coincidence to see this video, it really made me go back to when I discovered art myself and how it had helped me through my life. 🧡 I feel so inspired by these words and how good points you made in the video, I certainly can't wait to see where my journey takes me, thank you so much for this video, it was the kind of boosst I needed for myself 🫶🏻
Thanks for your channel Mr. Danny! Making work in series, not only gives you lots of practice, but it helps to work out the issues you like or don’t like. Or, maybe send you in a completely different direction.
I LOVE this video!!!!!!!! and plus I want to tell you: I love receiving your weekly email: I find it so full of wisdom! and at the same time it is fun and very encouraging. Do you think I like it because it is Free? Well who doesn't like receiving Free things BUT what you Give has a great content and makes me feel understood. So Thank you so much! your wisdom reaches all the way to Italy😃!!! Thank you so much Fantastic Man/Teacher thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!! Hugs hugs hugsssssss ♥
Good video. I was intimidated by someone else’s beautiful art. I was supposed to put my art up after that artists for a separate art show. The lady who helped organize this told me to never compare my art with anyone else’s. thought that was good advice.
Danny, thank you so much 🫶🏼 I remember that even as a child I was highly judgmental of my drawings. Don’t know why… so I stopped drawing until my dad died three years ago and I was so heartbroken that I started drawing again to help self-regulate and manage my hurricane of emotions. 🪄✨💖🎨
As Picasso said once............... It took me 60 years to paint like a child.!
True!
Not 60 years....the quote is "It took me four years to paint like Raphael but a lifetime to paint like a child".

You can do it!

You've got this!
This video reminds me of the book that you wrote, The Creative License : Giving Yourself Permission To Be The Artist You Truly Are. Seems to be an extension of it. Love that vibe. ( Also that book changed my life when I read it as a younger person.) This video was a big help.❤
It's always great to hear how the book impacted you.
Such great advice, every second of it ❤ thank you

You're on the right track.

It was great! And helpfull.👍
Thisbis the essence of punk for me. Do what you want and don't even think about what others will be thinking.
Ah! More wonderful advice wrapped up in a lovely warm and fuzzy medium. Thanks!
You are very welcome!
Yes, this is everything! Have fun and just keep moving forward.
Thank you Danny, I feel a lot better now !!!

Oh 9:24 contains the message I need! Gonna play that on repeat for a bit. I wrote it down in my sketchbook too. Thank you.

Just when I was going to pack away my pencils into a very deep draw your advice has come through:) - so haven’t pack them away .
Thank you very much, I feel as though my judge is so wounded and upholding this identity of potential that they’ll always prevent me from being fulfilled.
Love the new wall color 😊
Ahhh, if only I could like this a million times xx

Took your adivice. Thank you, Danny.

It's easy to get caught up in comparisons.
All great advice, but I think the most important one is to have fun with what you're doing. Otherwise, why do it?
Exactamundo!
Can somebody define 'fun' please. I'm having problems with that lately 😬 However, I do know how to go to work. Sadly.
I seem to be stuck on one painting. I may need to start another one to move on.
5:18 Somewhere, I heard/read of Picasso’s 50,000 paintings and drawings, 100 were considered great. Who knows?
👍
👋😊
Never finish a painting - Picasso
How to build self confidence?......nothing scared the living daylight off me than showing my drawings to some random people...
Please don’t use ai images in your thumbnails 😭
These are my drawings, made with tempera.
@@SketchBookSkoolisn’t the background ai? If not I’m really sorry
