LEAST FAV TRACK: FUNERAL SOUND
VEIN.FM - THIS WORLD IS GOING TO RUIN YOU / 2022 / CLOSED CASKET ACTIVITIES / METALCORE, ALTERNATIVE METAL
6/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
this ratio is going to ruin you
🔥🔥🔥
1hundredth like
A Metalcore band getting a 6 by Fantano is the equivalent of a 10/10 in any other context
Lol Untitled and Magazine Beach are some of their best songs, just because they’re short doesn’t mean you should disregard them completely
could not agree more
"Least favorite track: Funeral Sound."
Couldn't disagree harder. Easily the stand out of the whole album for me and what made me enjoy it so much. Ties everything up excellently and the spoken-word section was a bold, but brilliant way of bridging the two halves of the song together.
It’s Fantano…. Would you expect anything less?
And that piano! Like DAAAAMN I've got chils
that song is such a ear-gasm
Funeral sound is my favorite right next to the killing womb, just wish it didnt have that voicemail bit
@@jesusman6666 the voicemail bit strengthen the atmosphere imo, i love it
I'd give it an 8. A much more intelligent and intentional blending of hardcore and other influences than we've largely seen over the last few years.
Unexpected BONES feature but it works perfectly
Been teased for a while, was waiting for that tbh
God yes
bones is soooo overrated and his fans are annoying af
Don't let this album review distract you from the fact that Melon gave out four 9's in four consecutive weeks
Personally I think the main reason why they're pulling from so many sounds from 2000's popular rock and metal music is just as like a thread and not so much the central focus. I think it's mainly to add to the band's sonic lore. Like one of their main influences of course is the Silent Hill soundtrack, so I think the main reason for all these throw backs is because is to live up to their "Old data in a new machine" motif that brings feelings of retro-futuristic horror. I get that it's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you are sick to death of those styles, but I personally loved it.
They probs just like that kinda music and Anthony just doesnt vibe with it. Everyones got their own preferences at the end of the day
Was that silent hill influence on errorzone?
@@batman-sr2px Yep. I think that it even had an impact on their early demos and EPs
i can't believe will putney, (with an otherwise awesome, Converge-ish kind of mixing track record) absolutely fucked the drums and over-polished the snares/sample replacement, lacking all the punch and ferocity of errorzone @nonyodambiz @@nonyodambiz
This dude just gave this album a fucking 6?
Bruh I'm so mad
I can’t believe he didn’t mention that Bones is featured on Orgy In The Morgue
I feel like an idiot but who is bones
@@GoalieGab bones is a living legend in the underground hip-hop scene from the 2010s. Him along other rappers pushed the underground hip-hop scene by self releasing music and experimenting in hip hop music and was probably the hardest working rapper at the time around 2011-2017. He has made more than 25 albums and has toured the world all while being completely independent without the help of record labels. He was probably one of the first rappers that I heard to have screaming vocals in hip-hop and he screams towards the end of orgy in the morgue
@@fhdz22 very helpful, thank you
Wtf I didn’t even notice
@@fhdz22 damn, hearing bones be talked about in past tense like this makes me feel old as hell
RIP Mike Stand, you will be missed
Wait Mike Stand died??
@@SilhouetteJudas Yes... The state of Albuquerque can confirm 😔
sp epic
Wait, how do you make a mike stand?
I don't think he knows that Bones has a guest spot on this album
I love Errorzone and this record is not as intense but is very good. I've listened to it about 20 times already and it is a record the more you listen to the better it gets. I find it interesting that Funeral Sound is his least favorite as that is probably one of the best songs in the record. To each their own but so far this is my record of the year.
Couldn’t agree more. Funeral Sound is the epitome of the band’s work so far for me, just an absolute monster of an experience.
Funeral Sound is easily the best track on the record
Funeral sound is my favorite track right next to the killing womb, just wish they didnt have that voicemail bit
I pre-ordered this on vinyl so I guess I'll just break it when it gets here
Hahaha
HOW DO YOU NOT LIKE FUNERAL SOUND, WHAT
Of course this guy dislikes anything Deftones influenced. These guys and Loathe rule
I hear a lot more of a Knocked Loose sound than Deftones
@fnamelname8906 while true. Loathe, Deftones and Vein albums have been given 6/10. So i kinda see a pattern here
I give this record a broken mic stand/10
I can't believe he just gave Dawn FM a 6
the score it should've got

the world is going to ruin you absolutely blows that dogshit album out the water
sadness. this album rules. why would u do me like this Expensive Burrito
this album certainly felt like listening to Norma Jean's earlier work as a teenager. Still find it refreshing to this day
you're on my shitlist for this one Fantano give it another listen
Trust me. He reviewed Errorzone and he reviewed this one. Looking back and watching his videos more and more I’m starting to realize he reviews a lot of bands and artists he truly believes have something cool going on (take out the popular stuff that he reviews because is just popular like Drake’s new record which we know Drake just straight up sucks nowadays so he just does it because Drake is a big name and everyone wants to hear about what he has to say)
dude some of the members of this band made an awesone shoegaze album called "we're not here to be loved" under the name fleshwater it been out for a couple of month and i love it but id like to hear your opinions on it
Hey, thanks for the info!
For me this is the best album this year. Feels so fucking catastrophic and calculated. Never heard something so fucking painful in my life. 9.5/10 love u vein
That is FAKE NEWS... Vein put out a TREMENDOUS album, yes, no one ever put out albums that good, it's TREMENDOUS.
Fucking masterpiece
Magazine Beach better just be a taste of whats to come. That shit is a goddamn vibe thats over way too soon
This is one of the best metal albums of 2022. 6 is not a good score melon 🍉 🍈 it’s a 10!!
Its 2022
@@saladhands1127 whoops fixed it!! Lol THIS ALBUM SLAPS
Not a 10 IMO but I do agree with it being one of the better metal records of the year so far. If I were to rate it out of 10 it would be a solid 7.5-8/10
I’m just a young mexican stoner that smokes weed on my TH-cam channel, tryna me it out the hood One Day👌 When i look at the top where all the successful people are… there isn’t NO mexicans
6 is a good score? Unless you didn’t mean it like that
Orgy in the Morgue and no mention of how BONES is on the track? This should at least bump it to 7/10
Bones first hardcore song ever. And you didn’t even mention it. 🤔
In contrary, Funeral Sound is my favorite track from this album but then again I also pretty much disagree with most of what he said in this review, anyway it's a 9/10 album for me.
wow u didnt even mention the rare Bones feature
I still think it's weird that people take this guys reviews serious especially when he criticizes a bands musical integrity considering he's not a musician
Dude gave Underneath an 8 and this a 6. I’m out.
Idk man, I’m not a huge fan of Code Oranges new direction but there are some pretty fun moments on that record that might be more memorable long term. I love Vein but I was super disappointed with this release besides the singles.
@@ultrawolflord8495 If new Vein ain’t for you that’s cool. I just can’t take your opinion seriously if you thought Underneath was “great” and this was a 6. Underneath is a gimmick as is Code’s entire shtick now.
@@schmutzonya5659 I’m hoping it grows on me I’m not going to give up on it yet. I never said new code orange is great by any means, but there are some breakdowns on that record that are undeniable, and there are songs on that record I absolutely hate too
@@ultrawolflord8495 I would definitely listen to new Vein more. The songs are dense, hectic and can come off as too much at first listen but I’ve found a lot of stuff to appreciate as I’ve been able to dissect the chaos a bit more.
I definitely won’t deny that there are some insane breakdowns and moments on Underneath. Erasure Scan is a highlight for me personally but overall the album just feels like it’s trying too hard to be an active evolution rather than a natural progression towards one. Out for Blood feels like that problem multiplied by a million.
Bro you never give a good review to anything that deserves it funeral sound was probably the best song on there
I always love your take on things. You are intelligent as you are insightful. However, maybe I'm more easily impressed here. I love the theme. Maybe that's what gets me stoked in the gym when I hear these tracks. It's a short ass album, I heard the whole thing during my workout (which is 30 minutes) and it really stuck with me. My favs are Wavery, the intro track, and the last track (oddly enough) is my favorite. The theme of the girl not being able to sleep resonates... as the horror kicks in, the cutting distorted drum tracks, the piano, all of it. It isn't for everyone, and the rating is a good one. My 10, everyone's 6.
why are you lying about going to the gym
@@znuswumriken4213 lol not everyone is a basement dweller, unless one works out in a basement 🤔
Execution is really good and what makes it. It's the same with doomtech that had similar theme.
How are you gonna say Geoff Rickly sounds like Slipknot? Have you never listened to Thursday?
No mention of The Killing Womb? DAMN
I thought DAWN FM was an 8, what happened?
Has Anthony ever really mentioned Hardcore as a genre? Like said the word and talked about it at all. He doesn't even list it next to vein's genres in the description lol they definitely play with hxc bands so often it's kinda weird
Cool oh really...interesting.....go listen to Nocturnal Flies and my sister project available on spotify and other streams. Simple search
Nope. This album is for “metal fans” apparently.
@@jonatanlora8653 i mean, overall it is a metalcore record.
Yes..? At the turnstile, soul glo, touche amore and show me the body reviews he calls those bands hardcore.
Vein is way more metalcore/mathcore sonically even tho they're a part of the hardcore scene.
honestly it was probably a 9 for me. yeah it wasnt perfect and i might slightly prefer errorzone but i appreciated their experimentation and dang i loved funeral sound
It may be a 6/10 for TND but this easily top 5 core records of the year… and I think this album is only gonna age well. Honestly I don’t know if it’s better than the first album but the concept in the album is so heavy. Really like the album.
I loved this one haha funeral sound was fire
Funeral Sound is fucking insane
Funeral sound is the best track in my eyes straight up. It takes serious thought to construct a journey as such a song. Idk wtf fantano be smokin smh, anyway one hell of a track on the real 10/10🤙🤙🤙🤙
That song is killer
just moved to boston for berklee.. very happy you’re putting me onto the local tunes cause ive had enough jazz & other bullshit lately. thanks fanthony antano🤘🏼
Check out harborlights
I love when Fanthony doesn’t like a metal album, because his trash taste in metal guarantees that it will be great.
He likes this album Tho. 6 is a positive score
@@alihassan-ve3hw He might have scored it a 6 but he reviewed it like a 3.
Even though I appreciate what they did here, I still definitely like Errorzone more. I'm not a fan of the lead singers clean vocals for the most part, but I really like his screams, and I think it just clashes in This World is Going to Ruin you.
This Melon is Going to Ruin You🍈
Anthony it's late I have to go to bed and sleep, please private or delete this video until morning bc if everyone else got to see it before me that wouldn't be fair and it would make me feel sad. Thanks Melon!
i dont care anymore
i love this album and i love errrozone too
I'm curious how many spins he gave it cause I really agree with what he is saying on a first listen. But now about 20 listens in I really have to disagree on most things. It SEEMS messy and weird but it really comes together after a good amount of listens. It really feels cohesive.
Inside Design to Nu-metal: “I’m the captain now.”
I say this with the utmost respect and admiration. Like, we get it, you don't like heavy music. There have been alarmingly many heavy music reviews across the board that are just slapstick 6/10 with some off-target commentary. ILIIAITE does not deserve 6/10, Oxidized does not deserve 6/10, and this certainly does not deserve 6/10. "Bad and nasally"? Nah.
definitely agree I think they can do better but I’d say this is a solid 7/10.
your wrong again but that's ok, we still love you 😘
Just listened to this album and came across your review shortly after. I give it an 8. It is more polished than Errorzone, but still beautifully chaotic and cohesive. It felt like the appropriate next step in the evolution of their sound coming off of the creative experimentation of Old Data Vol. 1 and I dig it. I thought Funeral Sound was an excellent closer. I’m seeing Vein at This Is Hardcore this week and I’m interested and looking forward to see how the new songs work in their set with previous material.
i feel mr fantano is correct in parts and yet kinda missing who the band are playing too,-which is fine but the sheer amount of converge worship and early 2000's nu metal is extremely clear....this is similar to what Seeyouspacecowboy is doing for 2010-era screamo....its corny and fun yet also reaching for something new within its confines...yes its cringe in parts but thats kinda what its going for. Gotta disagree with the funeral sound track too, the second half of that trackis a barnburner but hey, its his opinion which is resected.
Can’t believe you liked code oranges last album and don’t fuck with this. To each their own I guess.
Omg fantano why do you give zero effort when you review hardcore
I’m a fan of Vein, I wish they kept more of the glitchy stuff and didn’t get as melodic. This album is good but sounds like a less-good version of END’s recent album.
6-7/10 curse is real. Need more flannel-based activity
I went to a Vein show and they beat up my grandma
Besides the long voicemail, funeral sounds was best on the album
He's obsessed those off dry vocals, those are Geoff Rickly's vocals from Thursdays!
Micthony Standano
if he wasn’t outta touch he would’ve said this 🤧
yes fantano. This World is Going to Ruin You with that fucking score 😡
Very excited for new drug church tmr hope you review it
Me too!
Me three!
I'm allergic to melons but I power thru for you Mr.Melon
i give this record a solid $20/10
MIC STANDS WATCH OUT
My name is also Anthony
Nirvanthany Buddhistano really gettin' into the throat singing @ 0:00
Personal 10 for me and certainly AOTY so far. Vein never misses. Not surprised by that score considering the review he gave for errorzone.
I guess I don't see what others are seeing. I prefer Errorzone by a large margin.
Least favorite: Funeral Sound?!?!
SESH
Damn these Weeknd albums get dropped quicker than expected
Bro can praise an album also and give it a 6 lol
Yep, 6 is good
Yeah 😫
I wasn't really into them when errorzone came out but this record is fucking awesome! and I couldn't disagree with you more about funeral sound, that John Carpenter esq piano is the shit I live for
Fantano Is wack af, he gave errorzone a decent 6 and he loved it, now he gives a decent 6 to this album and he didn't liked at all, His way of rating albums Is ruined.
For real, he ain't the best at reviewing metal.
Errorzone is one of my fav records of all time so it’s kinda hard to beat it for me, I appreciated some of the darker tones and I liked a lot of the cool noise stuff in funeral sound. Overall I like it I’ll keep listening to it because I love vein but I agree whole heartedly the sung chorus in fear in non fiction is just bad I hated it which sucks because doom tech and errorzone choruses hit a major spot for me with the last record and I really wanted more of those.
they played in my basement in lowell like 7 years ago. crazy how big they are now
He forgot to mention Mike Stand.
Heyy you might have noticed this. But somehow rapper BONES is a feature on this album on orgy in the morgue.
I’ll give this 5 child sacrifices out of 10
Everytime. the best song is always melons least fav song
A burrito should not cost more than $1
This genre is not always my cup of tea but even I would rate this a solid 7.5 or 8.
i remember seeing vein a few days after errorzone came out and i was so floored i saw them twice more that summer. of their 3 albums i do think this is their worse while it is trying to be so heavy it felt like it blends together where errorzone and old data in a dead machine had so much more versatility. i want more electronic beats.
Not the egghead nagging on nu-metal again, take the L.
Damn. These comments are Poppin.
Feeling a 6
Edit: Called it. Yet i actually like the last track.
Anthony just doesn't like metal that much smh
Review Vehemence - Ordalies. French melodic black metal. Huge in the underground scene right now, and I know you'll love it. Get that metal cred you've been yearning for since you missed the Peste Noire album. Just make sure you name drop me in the vid. You're welcome
???? no way you give YWGBYST a 9 but this a 6 brody
Smh Melon didn't acknowledge the recent Archspire, Inferi, Replicant, and Sunless albums. Damn shame
These lyrics & concept went right over your head you didn't even address it just made fun one one part out of context
" I do appreciate many of the tracks on here segue way and tie into eachother very tightly" LOL bc Errorzone doesnt do that at all i guess?? I like both albums alot for different reasons and this one sounds like a good logical next step; intricate production, bigger melodic hits ("Magazine Beach" and "Wavery") and tracks that can please all types of fans into heavy music.
Magazine Beach 🖤 Whole album is siiiick!!
A year has gone by and EVERYONE disagreed with you.
Magazine Beach was great, but I don't think this album can touch Errorzone.
Came to see if you’d say anything about bones since you decide to stop reviewing him
Nobody Is gonna ruin this album review !!😠
