I like how each of them answered the questions differently. Suitcase was fully honest, Baseball said what was least likely to hurt someone, Knife kept twisting Taco’s words to what he wanted, and Lightbulb deflected the questions with comedy
@@axolotlsarecute6764 you're so right, after episode 8 the whole season has been about depression and it was too dramatic, thankfully lightbulb makes it EPIC
You're telling me you left us on a cliffhanger...AND continued, eliminated two people in the same episode again, then left us on ANOTHER cliffhanger..i love this show
I ADORE THE SYMBOLISM IN THIS when you see Taco start to crack she is slowly revealing that she is hurt by the loss of Pickle and Microphone and when she finally breaks is when she accepts to herself that she is extremely broken and sad without them. This was a wonderful episode
@@The_Glitched_One-183 Taco got enough votes to join S3 according to the "Why we made season 3 video" but S2 was happening and is an important character so the II team removed her from season 3
I love Taco’s characterization here. After Microphone left her she really believed that Microphone made the right choice and everyone else should follow. She thinks this game is inherently evil and pushes people like Balloon, Nickel, Apple, and others to act in inconsiderate and terrible ways that sour their relationships, and Taco is no different. She doesn’t want anyone else to have gone through what she has despite her constantly claiming she didn’t care about Pickle and Microphone. But what she found out after the challenge, what she saw with Suitcase and Baseball, and what was then shown with Paintbrush and Lightbulb, is that there are second chances. You don’t have to give everything up over this game. Your best people will understand that it was just a game and work to repair a relationship with meaning. It’s evolving on a concept from Total Drama, which I appreciate. It’s so fascinating to see her go from a villain to still being an antagonist but having each of the contestant’s “best” interests at heart (even if those interests is what she thinks rather than what they actually believe in).
I remember a Total Drama video that went over how the show broke everyone involved both physically and mentally. Honestly it seems like Taco watched that video lol.
After two weeks later, I keep rewatching this episode by how amazing this is. The story feels so cohesive each episode in the best possible way. I love how much the character moments matter and the way it connects to the next episode. Even like the little details like when MePhone gave paintbrush a zero on the painting contest because of the traumatic memories from Cobs, he felt a strong distaste for him for abandoning the older Meeple products. MePhone felt abused from him and didn’t feel treated properly. That leads over to the next episode too where when the contestants found all the jewels in the cave, it enabled a challenge to recover him by gathering all the jewels but when Toilet mentioned the name of Cobs, he was furious and fired Toilet out of rage. The theme shows it in episodes 14 and 15 when the intensity picks up. There are higher stakes, not only with the character moments in the eliminations, but it correlates so well with how scared MePhone feels about Cobs. When Mic and the gang were trying to recover fan from the aliens, they drove Cobs away as well. That was MePhone’s hopes and dreams. During episode 15, him hanging up the call on Cobs right at the end of the episode was spine-chilling. It feels very real and dramatic, which is what I love about this show so much. I can’t wait until the finale with how MePhone will come into terms with his past actions. This whole journey, not only that MePhone was just a simple sleazy game show host, but maybe there was another side of him that he was hiding. It really makes these last handful of episodes such an epic experience.
I haven’t seen a comment fully on lightbulb so I’m doing it I absolutely think it’s so relatable to hide depression and anxiety with humor like I get it you need people to talk to you but lightbulb just thinks that everyone will be disappointed in her if they think she did something wrong. As a people pleaser who COMPLETELY relates to Lightbulb I just love the extra details added to her personality in this episode she is trying so hard to clear up any trauma with anything and trying to bottle it up and just cover it up with extra talking and comedy I love how she keeps clicking her pen faster when taco talks more about her. I just find lightbulb so relatable and glad that she is finally at peace knowing that she doesn’t have to disappoint her friends.
27:43 Can we take a second to talk about how tense everything was here, I mean how the music just stops in the background, everyone goes silent, and all that’s heard is mephone getting a call from cobs, and then slowly mephone doesn’t answer, really sets up curiosity for the next episode!! I love this show so much oml.
I absolutely love the meaning of this episode. It really struck a chord with me, particularly the idea that you don’t have to push away everything and everyone just to get ahead. It’s okay to let people in, to let people care for you, and to care for them in return. The interaction between Lightbulb and Paintbrush beautifully illustrated this. When Lightbulb asked, “Really?” after Paintbrush said they truly care, it hit home for me. I’ve always carried this belief that no one truly cares about me, which has led me to hide away and bottle up my emotions. I may be projecting a bit, but in that moment, it felt like Lightbulb understood that Paintbrush genuinely cares about her. Perhaps, up until then, Lightbulb believed that everyone was only out for themselves because of the toxic environment of the game. This scene also made me think about the impact that, Taco's attempt to get the contestants to quit, Lightbulb's decision and Mepad's resignation could have on the two finalists. At the end of the day, isolating yourself and burning bridges in pursuit of selfish goals will never be worth it. We saw how badly Taco's actions damaged her relationships-she pushed away the two people who genuinely cared about her, and even though she regrets it now, those bridges have been burned beyond repair. Pickle, who once trusted her, is understandably bitter after being betrayed and made to look like a fool. Then there’s Microphone, who was manipulated by Taco for her own gain. Microphone truly believed she had found someone she could open up to, someone who valued her for who she was, only to realize she was being used, gaining nothing from her relationship with Taco. Taco's actions destroyed her reputation and led to a complete loss of trust from everyone, including OJ. She wasn’t even allowed in OJ’s winning hotel, a symbol of how far she had fallen. In the end, Taco ended up with nothing. Even though there was only one winner, OJ, everyone else got something-they got to stay in his hotel and enjoy the reward together. Meanwhile, Taco, who betrayed everyone and tried to steal the prize, was left with nothing. By pushing everyone away in her pursuit of victory, Taco lost everything, showing that burning bridges and isolating oneself for selfish reasons ultimately leads to regret, loneliness, and emptiness. Looking ahead, I hope that Mepad helps Taco confront her old relationships with Microphone and Pickle in the next episode. It would be great to see her take responsibility for the hurt she’s caused and, perhaps, begin to rebuild those broken connections. This episode is a powerful reminder that while competition can bring out the worst in people, it can also bring out the best, depending on how we choose to engage with others. The writing in this episode is phenomenal, props to the writer and team for yet another beautiful episode!

@@LucyPennies YES, I also love how Baseball was visibly concerned and took it seriously. He accepted that he missed a lot of things as team captain and clearly feels guilty that he didn’t notice something was wrong. I love his line at 25:38
I love what the show has done with Taco. Having her as the show's antagonist is neat, and also having her as a spokesperson to highlight some of the toxic aspects of the reality show competition formats is really interesting! I can't wait to see where you all take this character.
MePhone looking genuinely scared after hanging up on Cobs feels very real. He may be a heartless clown who deceives and lies but he’s still a person who’s scared of things.
I wouldn't go as far to say " heartless " however, he seems to hide behind a cool host personality, and the game show itself but when you remove that shell, he's just... scared (I wanted to say more here but I can't think of the words). Trying to forget what happened to him. Of course this doesn't excuse what he has done but yeah. He does still care for people as we can see with bot, but he'll hide behind his confident host personality to try and forget everything that's happened. The game, is like his therapy 2 him. Hell do anything to avoid interacting at all with cobs.
“Alright, so Knife’s over here justifying MURDER!!!” Also a nice callback to the evolution of the show in general. Because during season 1 people killed each other all the time and didn’t care. No morals. But as the series have gone on more and more they have actively saved others and been more mad about murder despite recovering being just as easy as before.
Well, recovery is still way harder than in BFDI, and the way to recover involves installing the contestant's data on their device, and pressing their corresponding button.
Im like slightly confused I wont lie :( Did s3 happen before s2 then? Was the vacation essentially mephone doing s3? Are the contestants on s3 still at the island? Or do the seasons happen in chronological order?
Rewatched this episode before the first part of the final, and I gotta say, I didn't give this episode nearly as much credit as I should have, it's amazing, might be my favorite episode even! I truly can't wait to see how the story will finish up!
honestly i wanted baseball or knife to win since lightbulb does care about her team that's now eliminated and both of the others kinda moved on especially with knife just making it to the final 4 with no close teammates whatsoever

SCREAMING, CRYING KICKING MY LEGS LIKE CRAZY TACO'S VOICE IS SO ANGELIC WHAAAAT???!! I adore this episode a lot even if it make cry quite the lot- I LOVE IT
Honestly, this is one of, if not, the best episodes not just in Inanimate Insanity, but in any object show I’ve ever seen! All of the remaining characters went through some massive development, and the challenge was absolutely perfect to making everyone collectively have full awareness of the dark turn this particular season went! I especially love “Taco’s Tirade”, and how it defined her and MePad’s POV changes. On another note, I was highly impressed with the former’s singing performance, it was so pleasant that it felt like I was listening to a Disney song and nearly forgot that I was merely watching an object show. Finally, I’m also so satisfied with how most of the major conflicts in this season were resolved. Overall, this was such an absolute masterpiece of an episode. It was definitely worth waiting four years for, and I’m hella excited to see what you guys cook for the season finale. GREAT JOB!!!!!
I like how in 7:25 - 7:30 is singing that the contestants “can’t bring themselves to face the awful truth” and is then shown to visually have a part of her shell broken, which later on foreshadows her literally shattering into pieces for that exact reason. Man I love this show’s writing!
I think that's actually what happens when she pauses for a moment before mepad joins in you can hear a faint crease like noise and she winces in pain and mepad mentions needing regeneration you can also notice the creases are gone when she gets revived showing how this has been building up for a while but the thought of possibly seeing pickle again or just in general seeing someone else get a second chance when she's constantly doubling down saying that she can't get one was just the breaking point and I can't remember but I think that crease on her body has been there for a while not just now showing how she's been living with that pain well ever since it happened
Im guessing the cracks are stress, she was never physically harmed yet her shell is breaking under all the STRESS and PRESSURE from the game and untouched feelings. It makes me wonder if other objects can go through the same thing.. after all Paintbrush becomes a torch when they're VERY upset, so it's clear object's bodies can show physical changes from mental states alone.
Knifes development in this season is incredible seeing him go from an absolute jerk to becoming one of the most sensible and good people in the show is awesome
The "villain" song they gave for taco not only sounded amazing but also perfectly shows how she's not evil, but instead wanting to change, that was my favorite part about this episode, can't wait for the finale
This episode moved me. I first saw this episode in theaters at the BFDI x II Tour this year, and I was entranced. Ironically, this was the first Inanimate Insanity episode I had ever seen (I had only watched BFDI up to that point). But, the episode was so great and well written, that it inspired me to watch the entire II series in just over a month. I ended up finishing the series two days ago as of writing this. Now that I know all of the lore behind the series or even just season 2 in general, I really got to appreciate this episode more. Also, it helps that there are less deafening screams in the background. But, I just remember always humming what I knew of "Taco's Tirade" while anticipating the official release of this episode. Rewatching this episode in my own home was amazing, and really helped me relive the great memories I made at the tour. So, from the bottom of my heart, I truly want to thank you all for creating this masterpiece of an episode, and an even bigger masterpiece of a show. You all are amazing people.
Genuinely, this is the best episode of any show I’ve seen It so perfectly begins to tie up all the themes presented throughout the season, while managing to never feel bogged down and sluggish I cannot WAIT for the finale
I genuinely cried with this episode. Taco with her “villain” personality (her song too). It's kinda personal but I really identify with Taco, when you lose someone, start to deny the help from others and not wanting to face the truth. When she breaks.. it's when you finally accept the reality and the real feelings you have. Idk why I thought Lightbulb and Paintbrush were going to kiss 😭. The fear (maybe trauma) that MePhone has to Steve Cobs. This episode was seriously a roller coaster of emotions. I didn't cry so much even with ONE.
i agree - i nearly sobbed seeing paintbrush again bc i sobbed when they got eliminated they were always my favourite character - but now as a musical fan taco may get that spot
I find it interesting how in the visuals the cracks show up after she breaks the logo of the show, sort of showing how her trying to break the show (helping microphone and stuff like that) is breaking her, not just physically, but mentally as well, as she loses more and more of people’s trust. Honestly I just love her character in general, she sees herself as irredeemable, so she doubles down instead of trying to make improvements, which shows others that they have no reason to assume she has changed, she fuels her own beliefs and makes her own problems because she assumes she’s beyond redemption. Her obsession with the show further ruins her, and takes away what could have been a good healthy friendship with microphone or anyone else. She could have just… hung out or something but she had to be this mysterious helper. She keeps hiding, first she hid under comedy and stupidity, then she hid under mystery, now she’s still afraid to confront the people she used to be close to. She is so afraid it physically tears her apart just thinking about them seeing her. She obviously respects them, which you wouldn’t expect from a manipulative villain, but what we see here is a broken person who believes she is beyond forgiveness, beyond redemption, and though she wishes she could have healthy relationships, her bad choices in the past have convinced her that she cannot change in the eyes of others, which to be fair, many people in the real world wouldn’t be very quick to forgive, forgiveness takes time, and taco seems to believe that it can’t happen to her, but in reality if she truly put effort in, although there may be some mistrust from some, she can have healthy friendships, and I think MePad is a good person to help her see that, with him wanting what’s best for her, even letting her take over the show, because he knows arguing with her will not help her, she doesn’t need someone to oppose her, she needs someone to show her she can still have relationships, someone who won’t reject her, but try to help her and stand by her. Tl:dr, Taco is a tragic character who made bad choices and I love it.
Honestly, I completely agree. I also find it fascinating she tries to tell them to quit, in which she does bring up some great points about the shows flaws.
I might be seeing this wrong, but taco seems to be a nice parallel to balloon Both of them hid under different personalities to try and win in season 1, but, while taco believes to be unable to be forgiven, putting no effort into that, balloon tried to change and be a better person in the eyes of everyone else It's also funny how they were both team captains in season 1
@@Enven37 I didn't even think of that! And Balloon was actually able to redeem himself in the eyes of others, further showing that unlike what she believes, she is redeemable. Even though her worldview is based on factual things she's experienced, it's still a flawed view.
@@GotSwissd yeah, it's really neat how nobody can be clearly defined as the "good guy", and they're both clearly doing things wrong. Instead of a story with a defined protagonist and antagonist, here we have two flawed characters in flawed situations. It's really interesting to get into
15:49 “alright so knife’s over here justifying murder! That’s fun.” Edit: I JUST REALIZED MY TYPO I TYPED THIS RLLY FAST WHEN IT WAS POSTED IM SORRY 😭 edit 2: I GOT THE TACO PLUSH 🤭
I like the more serious direction adam and the crew have taken this series. II started off goofy like every other object show but it’s truly evolved into having more depth and subtle beats that’s show depth in these characters. Like it’s kinda turned into this pseudo drama and i love it so much
literally nothing changed in a REALLY GOOD WAY. the same art style, same story plot, just what we wanted, and actually even more. You can really see the effort they put into this, like the taco mepad singing scene. I can't tell how much im happy to have my favorite series back. always been my childhood memories welcome back🎉
I noticed a detail with Taco’s asset in this episode. Throughout this episode before she cracks, Taco on the left side of her body has 2 noticeable shades, one lighter and one darker, that all meet in a triangular point. Once she breaks and is recovered, this detail vanishes. I wonder if this symbolises anything, if the shades were a physical representation of the different aspects of what taco has gone through during the first two seasons, and once she is recovered, her life and appearance reset, physically starting again, showing that she can start again not just in life, but with her friends she has lost (microphone and pickle). If she can have her life reset, then she can also have her friendships reset
Fair enough it has been 5 years, and I’ve never noticed the scar I don’t think it’s been as obvious as it was in this episode, but yeah I think we are both right
i think what makes it interesting is that there’s really no right or wrong for each side, taco was blind to any opposition to her point and was shown that people can make amends and not ruin themselves because of the game, and you could see her as trying to cope with her downward spiral by trying to end the game.
I feel like Taco's Tirade was an apology letter for everyone expecting "Test Tube Tango" to be a song in episode 14...and I think we're all accepting this apology.
Something I really love about the writing of II and how it plays into object show tropes is how it tackles the morality of impermanent death. It's interesting getting to see the characters, even for a little bit, argue about how much it matters. Does the pain matter in the moment if you'll be fine later? Can murder be justified if you know the person will survive? Should death scare you or is it just an inconvenience? And then the small moment of worry when the others aren't sure if MePhone will actually revive Taco. Even more to think about on the morality of how much death matters when you can come back but only at the whim of a faliable person. It's all so good to chew on and a great way to turn what's normally just a joke/handwave into something that should be logistically considered in as a real part of their world.
And the way you hear Knife's voice where he asks if MePhone will bring Taco back. You can hear the fear. He is terrified of there actually being consquences.
@thegamebusters5413 knifes been defined by his feigned apathy so i hope he shows more of a sincere side in the finale, i love how he rationalises it all but is broken up by the idea of causing someone to die permanently by thinking they would just automatically be brought back without any bias from mephone
@@empolethetaco2450 I agree... but it seemed to me Mephone could have just said he'd bring her back after the finale was done, to make sure she didn't spoil it.
@Ringcaat he did and didnt mean it, he was falling back on negative habits hes aware that he needs to work past Thats how i saw it at least, i think the finales gonna test mephone morally in some way because how he spends the episode doubling down on bad habits after trying to do better at the end of season 3 :3
Inanimate Insanity II's storyline has gotten really deep over the last 11 years or so, and this new episode was no exception! Season 3 definitely made it worth the wait. Also, that musical number from Taco was FIRE! And Justin Chapman did a good job at voicing MePad.
22:52 Knife feeling bad for Taco.. She lost a game, her friends, and now, she could've lost her entire life. DARK. MePhone also felt shame. She want*ed* to ruin II II, but he knows keeping her dead would be the wrong thing to do.
Taco’s singing was beautiful. Her voice fits really well. And her development in this episode was just phenomenal. Can’t wait for the grand finale of this legendary season!!
27:09 i noticed how he says suitcase “stabbed”, and how knife “carried”, like the terms were swapped around because in general knives stab and suitcases help carry, and thats really cool
This is an amazing comeback. I kinda believe that Season 3 has slightly improved the show a bit (voice actings and such.), I also loved Taco in this episode, it just shows how much regret she has piled up inside her, and how she just wanted to help them, so that no one will ever go trough what she had gone trough. I also loved the Taco and MePad duet. Kinda sad that Lightbulb lost since I was supporting her to win S2, but when she lost, she actually had her rights, I can imagine her actually just suffering of loneliness inside her after seeing her teamates go out one by one. Her choice to leave the platform moved me to tears. Lol. I also loved the amount of comedy, trauma AND the Taco and MePad duet, I loved the lyrics and the song, the beats and everything else, Lightbulb was funny, and Suitcase finally spoke out about her own feelings, and the drama between Taco, MePhone, MePad and the 4 final contestants. this really is an Animation Epic. Anyways I'm excited for the results!! Good luck to the final 2!
27:44 I have a huge feeling that Steve Cobs is going to play an important role in the next episode. Anyway, this was such a good episode! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the song, it was so good, honestly now my favourite song! We’re so back!
Phenomenal episode and work!! Especially with the musical performance! I may be a little late to comment on all of this but as someone who’s just sat down to have a good time, this was time well spent! Amazing to see a 12 year long show with character arcs that are beautifully written, spectacularly drawn, and perfectly voiced! As a new fan, I can’t wait to see what’s next!^^
Imagine the irony if Knife ends up winning and he gives a speech while standing on the cliff till OJ comes out of nowhere and says its enough with six hour speeches.
Honestly, I think knife deserved to be in the final 2. He has developed a lot since season one, going from a jerk who kills everyone, to a good friend and one who helps others. Great episode!
You know it's crazy when a goofy object show can get more depress than ONE, so many lores and trauma in one sitting, the song for some reason giving both a Hamilton and Encanto vibe, I love EVERYTHING about this episode!!❤
I genuinely believe this is the best thing you guys have ever made. It feels like if I watched this on loop over and over again forever I'd never get tired of it. Taco's breakdown before she quite literally snaps was such an intense moment, it can be seen how much effort you put into this episode. This deserves all the Groscars. See you all after Season 4!
Although I was upset that Lightbulb got eliminated, it made sense for the story as she didn’t really have anything groundbreaking to show that’s worth the finals, and she just really wants to go back to her friends! Especially Painty. I’ve had the same feeling now like U did in 2020 with this episode, excited to see II 16! Good luck to both Knife and Suitcase!
oh, actually rheagans been in theatre since she was like a kid, which explains the vocals. if you want, you can learn more in the VA video up on the channel for taco's lines on ep 13 :]
13:08 didn’t suitcase wanted Baseball to vote for Test Tube. This really doesn’t make sense. In II 14 She told Baseball “She’ll learn to understand it’s… just part of the game.” Now she gets upset, bro you literally made him to vote for Test Tube.
Yeah, she did.. but i think she means like how he phrased it. Because her vote for Nickel was to stand up for herself and Balloon against him, and of course Baseball got mad since that was his friend, but Suitcase had more of a reason. For Test Tube, Baseball tried playing it off the same way even though her freaking out over Fan came so suddenly, they just didn't want her to keep going at it, but somehow didn't really care as much when it came to Nickel. So it's just basically trying to say it's the same as her vote on Nickel. That's how I think of it, and if it makes sense, lol, but yeah, I found it a little silly (I'm not making an argument, just that's how I thought of it as!!)
I like how each of them answered the questions differently. Suitcase was fully honest, Baseball said what was least likely to hurt someone, Knife kept twisting Taco’s words to what he wanted, and Lightbulb deflected the questions with comedy

I haven’t seen a comment fully on lightbulb so I’m doing it
I absolutely think it’s so relatable to hide depression and anxiety with humor like I get it you need people to talk to you but lightbulb just thinks that everyone will be disappointed in her if they think she did something wrong.

All of the remaining characters went through some massive development, and the challenge was absolutely perfect to making everyone collectively have full awareness of the dark turn this particular season went! On another note, I was highly impressed with the former’s singing performance, it was so pleasant that it felt like I was listening to a Disney song and nearly forgot that I was merely watching an object show.
You can actually see that the colors are slightly different throught the shell, forming crack-like shapes.

I might be seeing this wrong, but taco seems to be a nice parallel to balloon
Both of them hid under different personalities to try and win in season 1, but, while taco believes to be unable to be forgiven, putting no effort into that, balloon tried to change and be a better person in the eyes of everyone else
It's also funny how they were both team captains in season 1
@@Enven37 I didn't even think of that! And Balloon was actually able to redeem himself in the eyes of others, further showing that unlike what she believes, she is redeemable. Even though her worldview is based on factual things she's experienced, it's still a flawed view.

It’s a scar from the gem thing last episode but dayum u could be right
she was dented in mine your own business i think
It was a dent from the mine episode, where she crashed in a minecart.
Well everyone is correct about it being a dent gained from a prior episode, I don't think you're wrong about the hidden symbolism of it, either.
I'm not just accepting it, I'm celebrating it.
I’m vibing with it
HOLD UP. THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SONG?! 😱💔
They both start with only T
I feel like this wont be explored much further but ty for writing this because i agree and its nice food for thought :)
@Ringcaat he did and didnt mean it, he was falling back on negative habits hes aware that he needs to work past
Thats how i saw it at least, i think the finales gonna test mephone morally in some way because how he spends the episode doubling down on bad habits after trying to do better at the end of season 3 :3
"Wow, youve really been stalking us have you?"
"yes."
She want*ed* to ruin II II, but he knows keeping her dead would be the wrong thing to do.
did you try to bold the *ed*

Damn has season 4 gone out already?
@@GuineaPupDrawsno. People call season 2 of Inanimate Insanity “II II” due to II being the Roman numeral for “2”, so it’s basically “II 2”
Taco’s singing was beautiful. Her voice fits really well. And her development in this episode was just phenomenal. Can’t wait for the grand finale of this legendary season!!
@@steveimator_m2 I know! Wait a minute, TWO!
I gotta agree, this episode was amazing 👏
@@asmaa1178 I know! What was your favorite part?
@@BFDIFinalistsfan2763Easily the song, god that's one hell of a banger.

Holy crap i didnt expect taco to just randomly break into song. Also the fact that MePad left for taco is actually heart-warming.

Team Knife all the way.

4:48 me is casually watching the episode. It’s suddenly turning into a musical.

Skipped a season? More like two for BFDI.
The real reason for waiting was for taco’s VA to take vocal lessons
oh, actually rheagans been in theatre since she was like a kid, which explains the vocals. if you want, you can learn more in the VA video up on the channel for taco's lines on ep 13 :]
