There are alot of these similarities throughout the series, I think it's down to Yuko Takehara, I could be wrong though, I haven't checked the individual track credits..
Music has "fingerprints". Look at different eras of Hip Hop. In the mid 90s, you could hear Timbaland's fingerprints all over the place. In the late 90s to early 00s, Pharrell's sound was everywhere.
The SNES was so good at music that it was close to CD quality in some areas (obviously it wasn't close in many other areas), but it was so good. But this doesn't sound like an SNES remix, just sounds like the original.
A part of me always felt like this track sounded a little Mega Man X series-esque. In any case, lovely SPC700-style remix/cover, and keep up the good work!
