my 1st conch took forever to heal. the annoying hypertrophic bump came & went for almost 2 years. i almost gave up & then one day the piercing just stopped being stupid & finally healed perfectly. i waited another whole year before i changed it to a hoop. i just got my other conch pierced a few days ago so here i am on youtube looking up conch videos :) i am totally prepared for what’s to come! conch piercings are such a commitment but i like their simplicity & general aesthetic :)

You are so cute. I got my conch pierced 2 weeks ago and it feels completely fine. I'm so happy with it. I recorded getting it done on my channel!

my experience is very similar to yours (a bump and "gunkyness" so far).
I just wanna comment that it's probably not a keloid, but hypertrophic scarring - the main difference is that hypertrophic scar usually go away after a while. I've had that kind of scarring w/ my other ear cartilage piercing and I freaked out thinking it was a keloid... The bump would come and go for a year, I changed the jewelry, and at some point, the bump was gone for good. I've had this ear cartilage piercing for 6 years now, and it's perfectly, beautifully healed.
As far as my experience goes, my 3-months-old conch is doing exactly the same thing right now, so don't freak out, maybe you're experiencing this type of scarring, like I did with my other piercing. It's just a different sign that the piercing is healing. keep it clean and keep your hands out of it (I know, is very tempting, I commit that sin too hahah)
    anyway
nice video, it feels good to know I'm not alone with the conch problems! oh, and I would love to see your new jewelry.

I had my conch for 10 months now and its healed nicely, I found my conch to be the easiest piercing to heal. I also use a neck pillow to sleep with so my ears doesnt feel any pressure

Hi emilie just wondering if u considered getting a flat piercing next to ur rook piercing? I think it would look super cute ❤❤❤😊😊

I had a hell of a time healing both my conches. The only way I could get them to heal is by downsizing to only standard post earrings. Now they are perfect. I did upsize one just to have a hoop lol

Yeah its definitely not the easiest piercing to heal! Thanks for watching!

Ok question, you mentioned you get all your helpers from Etsy, so when you get your ears pierced do you bring in your own jewelry for them to put in? I think I’m allergic to surgical steel which is what they usually put in because I’ve had keloids for all my piercings and the way I was able to get them to heal was by switching out my jewelry to silver or gold plated jewelry

Im in the same spot as you! Well almost haha ive had mine for maybe 4 ish months? Mine gets gunky and stuff too and it was mad icky and you just gotta hella clean it alot tbh and the bar would get stuck cause of gunk and then youd get stuck on the gunk and pick at it but its soooo bad to pick at it and then you just regret it. So this whole video is such a shmood

i got my conch pierced 2 weeks ago with a hoop and it still hurts so fucking bad. The initial piercing didn't hurt at all (0/10 on the pain scale) but now when i clean it, omg it sucks so bad!

Ahh yes, I loved this update! Thank you so much for the info! The conch piercing is the next one that I want, but I'm going to wait on it for a while because I already have 7 extra piercings than my parents would prefer lolol. I think I have all of the ones that you have minus the nose (I have my septum instead), but just different placements on the ears!

When I had a keyloid issue with my cartilage it went away when I switched to a hoop! I would try switching it sooner than a year to see if that helps.

I just got mine done a couple days ago and it's still swollen and hurts like heck lol. I got it pierced with a hoop, so I'm hoping if I clean it enough, it won't be a problem. It definitely doesn't get caught on my hair. How long did it take the initial pain to go away? I didn't know I'd have a permanent headache from getting this piercing lol, so I'm hoping this pain only lasts a few days or so.

I would say a week or so! Then it should only hurt if you bump it around!
