The age old question: Should a person who never read any of the comics or really know anything about them, read them first, or wait and watch the series with no knowledge? All suggestions welcome.
From what i understand, the series is made for both kinds of people. I'm 100% sure you won't need to read them to start watching. However, as someone who has read them, i couldn't recommend them enough. The story is facinating, and i'm sure the show will adapt some things as they are written, will add new things and maybe take out some. But give them a go if you have time, there really aren't that many, it's around 12 issues in total (and new ones are coming out).

Don’t count on it. Although, it’s common knowledge now for a long time he distanced his work with his comics from his work with MCR. Let the Netflix show stand on its own for a while. We might get lucky with some songs being written by Gerard and Ray together but I don’t think you should expect anything greater.

11 years ago, when I was just a teenage crazy fan girl over Gerard, I wouldn't have expected for him to accomplish something so beautiful. He really dedicated himself to his art since the beginning. Now that I'm an adult I'm so proud of him, I didn't think I would feel this type of feeling. 💕 You've come a long WAY! 💕

I just saw MCR live here in Australia. I still love them the same way I have loved them when I first heard them. Watching this interview again and remembering the feeling of excitement on seeing Gerard on TV. It gave me hope that MCR are getting back together. And now they are touring. 😭🥰❤️
I’m not into comics unfortunately but I’ve been a big mcr fan for a while. So when I heard Gerard’s comic was coming to Netflix I was psyched for him since comics were his first love. He’s been a great storyteller. His albums are comics in music form. And he’s so theatrical and that’s what makes him unique.
He is such an artist, man. Insanely creative. The Umbrella Academy was absolutely wonderful. So insanely well done. I am absolutely amazed at the talent!
man, I'm so proud of Gerard and how far he's come. Not just with UA, but mentally, emotionally. He's in a much better place than he was 10 years ago, and it shows. I haven't even seen the show yet (still waiting for the rest of Hotel Oblivion) but it's so nice to see people appreciate his (and Gabriel's) work.

I just saw MCR live here in Australia. I still love them the same way I have loved them when I first heard them. Watching this interview again and remembering the feeling of excitement on seeing Gerard on TV. It gave me hope that MCR are getting back together. And now they are touring. 😭🥰❤️
I’m not into comics unfortunately but I’ve been a big mcr fan for a while. So when I heard Gerard’s comic was coming to Netflix I was psyched for him since comics were his first love. He’s been a great storyteller. His albums are comics in music form. And he’s so theatrical and that’s what makes him unique.

man, I'm so proud of Gerard and how far he's come. Not just with UA, but mentally, emotionally. He's in a much better place than he was 10 years ago, and it shows. I haven't even seen the show yet (still waiting for the rest of Hotel Oblivion) but it's so nice to see people appreciate his (and Gabriel's) work.
If 15 years ago i knew this was the Gerard Way i thought i'd be married to at this point in my life, i'd still be fan girling over his giggles
