This gentleman, this wonderful, fun-loving soul, had me in stitches whenever I watched his show. Sometimes when I felt my worst, I'd watch some of his skits and instantly be out of my dark place. Now and again, I still remember and say things like, "Shovenze das baton upin das umpus!" The proper response being, "Upin das umpus? Such gross baton!" It cracks me up even now, decades later.
May each of you who have passed on find rest and peace. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for entertaining me the way you did.

Fucking GENIUS!!! I remember when this was cause for concern on American television for being too racy! My parents didn't mind that I watched this and I was well under 10yo. This and George Carlin specials on HBO raised me right! I love my permissive parents!

Classic! We would watch it to n the down low and change the channel when my father walked in the room. One night, the TV was airing it, and my family and cousins came home after a church service and it was on. My uncle(the co-pastor of the church) was cracking up like there was no tomorrow. Suffice to say, from then on we could watch it freely. Thanks Benny, for the laughter.

Same for us in Argentina, in the midst of The Falklands War- There were mixed emotions, I would imagine, because we liked the show back home but yet the country was at war with England. I was very very young at the time and didn't understand what was going on but looking back now, it must have felt bittersweet .

The sad part is that he died alone, sitting in front of his television. His producer tried to reach him by phone for 3 days and when he did not answer, his producer climbed a ladder to get into his 3rd floor apartment and found him dead of a heart attack He had apparently been dead for days. A very sad lonely end for a man who brought laughter and joy to millions, and still does.

All the ladies that worked with Benny said he was always a complete gentleman. We are now finding people from his generation who WERE filthy and disgusting with young girls. Amazing how he was canned by do-gooders for his type of humour, while some other big 'stars' acted prim and proper and were filth bags. R.I.P. Benny.
