Portable ‘Flat-Pack’ Folding Cabin with Wheels

- I build a tiny portable folding cabin and attach some wheels and handles to it so I can move it around the woods. Before I get started on the build, I decided to seal interior of the osb board to help keep moisture out. I then moved the cabin out of the bog area that I had orginially placed it, and put it in the open beech area of the woods. Then I spray painted the interior green, added some utility storage webbing pockets to the interior, as well as upgraded the window to a porthole window with rubber gasket that can lock from the inside. To finish off, I made some retractable handles and put some wheels on it so now I can move it around whenever I fancy camping in a different area of the woods!

It's good to see you up, out and about again. Look after yourself!
Thanks! Glad to be back out in the woods.

Hello from Oklahoma! Jack Russel doing what they do. It's a good day. Good to see You back out there. God Bless!
Yes. Jackrussell's are great rodent finders perfect in the Oklahoma country side. Just hate it when they come back with a baby stinker. Yes your guess is correct.
Hope you’re feeling better mate. Thanks for the vid, that’s my evening sorted.
Thanks mate! Feeling a lot better than I did a few weeks ago that's for sure!
Hope you and your family are feeling much better and hope your dad is well
Good to see you out again Mike hope the recovery wasn't too bad 👍
With all the Tiny Homes and renovated vehicles being turned into living quarters are all the rage.
I'd love to see you maybe doing a modular thing or go full on with that folding cabin!
Wish you well, my brother!! cheers from the USA 🇺🇸
This is a great idea. So many nice additions you have enhanced its comforts for a nice camping experience. Keep yourself healthy because we want to see more.
Love seeing Jaxx, does he visit the sheep, I can see him playing with the lambs, your health, is more important , than a weekly video !
Glad you're recovering man. That port hole really makes the entire build sing. Great touch
what a trooper! dude's got an IV hookup installed, and hes building a rolling cabin! You are a madman my friend! glad youre doing well! caught a little bit of the livestream too! Lots of luv bud! thank you so much for the video!
I am thankful for the update but at the same time please take care of yourself! I am glad you are getting better! Even if you did a camp fire update video I would love to watch that!
I'm so glad your getting outside again, thank you for your channel.
Good to see you are doing well. You mentioned 'gut flora' and after being in hospital myself, I started having gut issues and pain. Tried so many things then remembered hearing about Miso (Japanese fermented soy paste) soup and how it has so many healthy bacteria. I went to a local Japanese grocery store and picked up a container of the paste, it keeps well in the freezer and has the consistency of peanut butter. One heaping teaspoon into a cup of hot (not boiling, too hot will kill the good bacteria) water and stir to dissolve. Keep that in mind if other methods are not working for you. I have a cup almost every morning and the discomfort has not returned.
Yes, Good point :o)
The gut biome gets affected from antibiotics and can need help rebuilding, as it most likely has reduced in diversity and ended up imbalanced (amount good vs bad bacteria).
Peripherally Inserted Central catheter!!!! Good to see you looking better.
Oh my, that E. coli sure was brutal.. Great to see you back and hoping that you fully recover quickly. 👍🏻❤️
Fun Fact. Did you know those tin snips at 6:35 are designed to cut Left turns? The Green handled ones are for right turns and the Yellow handled ones are for straight cuts?
Today I learned. Great piece of knowledge.
Everyday is a school day! And I just thought it was a which colour you prefer kinda thing 😅 thank you for that mate ❤
After all there is no doubt you are indeed your fathers son.
But Mike, I'm here to say,
You're more like him every day!
And that's, Totally Awesome....
Great to see you back in the land of the living and back to the woods mike all the best buddy.🎉
You can't stop a Jack doing what a Jack does best.
I would also paint the underneath of the cabin since it will also be exposed to a lot of moisture more so than the inside.
YTaking care of yourself comes first sir. We will be here when you ready to get the vids going again:)
Glad to see you get better Mike!
good boy! jax doing what he was bred for!❤
I'm glade to see you are continuing and not letting it stop you
Good job Jax. Lightning speed like my dachshund who killed mice, unlike the cat! The cabin is looking great, Mike. Glad you are feeling better. I lived through the devastating ecoli that hit Walkerton in 2000. Book: Well of Lies tells the story~
Our Dachhunds (or "tax" as we call them) are expert mice assassins too. So fun seeing them set off behind the garage etc, haha!
Good Evening!! Hello from New England (u.s.a.). glad to see that you are getting better and are up and about. GOD' Bless you. Amen :)
Good luck on the recovery. This cabin freaking awesome! Well done! 👍👏
Nice to see that you feeling better. Thanks for the video. I'll be waiting for more, but no pressure. Your health is more important than the videos.
Cool folding mini cabin! I think the wheels will need a solid axle. The single bolts will wedge into the wood over time, making your wheels crooked, due to the weight of the cabin. Also bearings would be a good idea imho. For an axle you can use a Threaded Rod M12 x 1m.
Glad you're up and about, good work!
Hey! Happy to see you back out in the woods! Thank you for sharing! Go to an auto supply store and get a straight shaft with threaded ends. Get some spacers to control the wheels movements better and you should be good!
So glad you're feeling better Mike!
The cabin needs bearings. You can hear the rubbing too. I would suggest leaving the two legs on because the tires deflate over time and it'll be leaning.
Great video Mike, and it’s good to see you on the mend. Look after yourself 👍🏻 all the best, Brian.
Ha mike im so glad you are feeling better, i did not realize all what you have connected to your vain, when you showed us i have to tell you i got a little pail, no worries i did not pass out 😂 The wheels and handle are brilliant, love the added accessories.
Fantastic prototype 1, maybe put 4 wheels on the next one. Great entertainment, thank you.
great work on the Wohnwagen. Glad you are recovering well.
Great to see you looking better and out n about again. Look forward to the next one buddy. ⛺️🔥🤙🏻
I hope you get well soon Mike. 😁👍🏼
I sure hope that your treatment goes well. Remember, YOUR HEALTH ALWAYS COMES FIRST
It's good to see you feeling better Mike. Who would have thought that you had a mouse that had taken up residence in your cabin? It's lucky your dog was there. It can be a serious issue, especially with rats, as they can leave trails of urine containing Weils Disease that can be fatal if it gets into a scratch, graze or cut in your skin or via your mouth and eyes. Fishermen have even contracted it, warehouse staff and truckers too, from manually shifting infected wooden pallets etc.
good to see you back out, hope you continue to heal up
Good news regarding your health! Nice upgrades to your portable cabin. I imagine we'll see some interesting winter camping videos.
Praying that you will continue to get better and love your videos.❤❤❤❤
You and Joe are going through it! Stay well.
Welcome back, mate! Good on Jax for helping with dinner 😅
Hope you will get to feeling better!
Love this little cabin.😊
A single solid axle and a bit of a spacer between wheel and frame will make it roll a lot freer. I might try pulling it when traveling and push it to park and level. I can't remember why but it is easier on the axle and wheel. And potentially you!! Great vid!
Great to see you and about , just kept thinking it was a cabin for jax.
Glad you're feeling better, we all need to build our immunity no matter what age
Happy to see you getting better Mike.
Rest easy pal. God bless. 😊
This is extremely similar to a design I had. Mine has a solid axle with 20" BMX bicycle wheels. It is sectioned in half at the center of the length (with a piano hinge). Uses a canvas 'calistoga' cover that folds into a gap between the sections. The unwheeled half is a compartment box that is accessed from inside (and makes up for levelling feet). And is epoxy fit, screwed, and covered with truck bed liner for durability (negating the need for heavy frame construction). Oh, and has a yoke to attach to a bicycle as a cart.
Turn around and pull like a rickshaw. You will be slightly lifting off of the axle instead of pushing on it, IMO. Other than my personal opinion, great job!! Glad you're on mend, stay safe.
Very clever; I've never seen anything like this.
Feel better and take your time! Maybe a planning type or gear review vid if you're not up for a full outing.
Nice job. Very nice job. Great idea and cabin looks great 👍
Thank you. Take it easy.
Good to see you out and about again. You must be feeling a lot better.
I’m sure you meant to have put bearings in those wheels.
Wow this first part is SOOO relaxing!
My word take a break man and get well soon. YT can wait. 🙏
ngl, I'm impressed your dog got the mouse so easily
So happy you are back to your old self. If I may, as for the folding cabin, I really can't see why you can't add another set of wheels. One end would need wheels that can turn on a 360 axis, but you wouldn't have to lift the whole thing off the ground. Of course, the is a cost to that. Just a thought.
You're a much better camper, entertainer, and builder than you are a painter, haha. That opening bit was tough to watch without saying "Put some paint on that roller, man!"
🔥Голыми руками бы все это, да из природных материалов. Сам показываю - как это работает...
Been thinking about you. Hope you're improving and your family is all well.
You could put storage under near the floor, I noticed you have space between the boards when you were doing the wheels. That would be a great addition
Dude, just rest. No apologies. Thank you for making these.
The way you said ‘and I fitted some handles’ you sounded just like your dad. 😂😂
Mike sorry to hear you've been sick but the pick one I know where you're coming from I've had those myself I have severe do my foot and I've had to have PICC lines put in my arm so I know what you're coming from good luck and God bless you
Good you're feeling better.
Although I hate being that guy, but you might want to use the spray paint sparingly in the woods. The microscopic droplets from the spray paint, that don't land on your target, fly away and become micro plastics. Unless the paint is bio-degradable you produced whole clouds of micro-plastics in this video.
Please take it easy,,,I love your channel 🙏
My son had one of they types of tubes they called it a long line and wasnt alowed to have it in over a week as it can cause infection so keep any eye on that buddy 👍may jave been as he was just born and may be different for adults, glad your on the mend though buddy.
Mike, how does it feel to be the "supporting cast" of the Jack Russell in the woods show...😂
there's something called foamex board, often used for advertising and signage with graphics printed on it, sort of like an airated plastic board, perhaps making a frame of wood like stud walling covered in that stuff would be lighter weight and more weather resistant, plus you could always double layer it with insulation, local place to me often puts out bad prints that are massive panels of the stuff if you're looking to go full shoestring budget
Get well and recover fast. Its a pain the get something out there in a normal world, imagine if it was in a situation of social caos... take care.
Hi Mike, good to see you out and about again. If you are going to do a MK2 mini cabin then maybe leave the leg set up the same and put the wheels in the middle, that way you wont have to lift the weight to move it as it will be balanced and the legs would lift the wheels off the ground when set up so it would be stable. wheels deffo need a better axle design like a bar all the way through as you said.
Really enjoyed watching it's coming on now
Glad to see you on the mend..
sounds like you need a little longer spacer. you have a great plan that is for sure.
Best wishes for speedy recovery
If I may give you one good tip...dont use wood but HPL-plating for building something like this. Relative a lot cheaper than wood because it doesn't need chemical protection, should last you about 15 years without maintenence, is waterproof, bugs dont like it, etc etc....
I built a outfit back several years ago the hall deer out of the woods and to bring camping supplies in when I went camping what I've done was used mountain bike wheels what about the whole bike for from the yard sale for 10 bucks I went and got threaded rod I have to go all the way through also I would advise you of taking a seatbelt and hooking it up to the front end of that so if you insist on going forward with it you can have that belt go up and across your shoulders and help support the weight but me personally I would pull it backwards it'll be much smoother going that way keep up the great videos
You should make it amphibious! Flip top open and cast away. 😊
Fico feliz que está melhor de saúde. Parabéns pelo vídeo. Sucesso
Some adjustable legs would be a good addition for uneven ground
"Jaxx got the mouse",
"MEDIC"!!!
You’re going to have quite a village in there soon :)
I know what it's like having one of those kneadels in your arme I had 1 in my arme for several months as part of my cancer treatment. Two years back now.
Great video! Get well soon mate!! 💪💪💪
Hi mike. Good to hear that you're feeling better.
But I do have a little complaint. 🤨 Those paper marks like the one you were using while painting with the can are basically useless, they're not even suitable for dust as they don't have a proper seel around the face.
It's a good job you were outside because the cloud was blown away instead of ending up in your lungs.
If you and your wife spray paint indoors then please buy some proper restorators with the correct filters. 🤔👍
Take care. 😀
Yeah I normally do wear a proper respirator but as I was outside just used the dust mask as it packed in the backpack easier 👍🏻
@@TAOutdoors
That's good to hear. 😀
I'm trying to do my bit in raising awareness about those paper masks, I may not be anyone of note on TH-cam but I'll do it anyway.
I did see one guy ripping out the inside of an old delivery van, inside the roof was mouse poo, he knew it was there but still thought a paper mask was enough. 🤨
Glad the meds are working. 😃👍
Nice to see Jax again, he's such a good boy. 🤗
Might just need a couple axle sleeves to stop them wheels being so shaky Mike 👍
Hello Mike, glad you're feeling much better, you should check out Tiny Cabin life.. he has built the same little cabin on wheels like yours but his is not foldable and has his attached to a bike so he's able to ride into the forest for camping trips.. very cool .. just a thought for you.. take care out there🐕 ❤
So glad yr on the mend xx
Glad to see you are doing well! I hope you are taking probiotics daily. Antibiotics save lives, no doubt about it but they wipe out all bacteria, good and bad so hope you are replenishing your good. Wonderful build, thanks for sharing. :) :)
Hope you are doing better!
Mike, may I suggest a long rod for the wheels, I think you could have better leverage. Good luck ❤
Ah take care boss like to see u in d cabin when u better that really clever stay safe
Find your local ratpack mate and give jax a few days out he will love it!!
Just a thought but if you had a small handful of those flat pack cabins in the same area then you could use them for family camping weekends and save space tranporting equipment etc and glad your feeling better it sounds like something awful to go through but at least your on your way out of the worst of it
