Yeah that's the thing, ontop of losing Rob Warner as an incredible action commentator, we lost someone who had both experience as a DH rider AND someone with immense knowledge of the tracks, teams, riders, stats. He made it look easy but he was the hardest working man at the redbull world cups, and that work shined through his commentary. The man wasn't just a good commentator, he was the voice of mountain biking. Absolute legend.
Gotta love it when Aaron is in the middle of some very interesting and informative observation and Ric and/or Cedric just start shouting over him about how fast someone is going or how they took a foot out. Yeah, we all saw that too. Especially Ric with his twenty second long nasal, monotone, staccato droning.
Dude, Ric is annoying. “I love the way he is using his long arms, long legs, hes using everything he has.” You mean the things that are required to ride a bike? Wtf?
Thanks Aaron for saving the commentary! Pink bike comments were positive so I unmuted these highlights. I like CG, he’s funny and a great rider, but I can’t stand his fake enthusiasm and those two talking over each other. Glad I didn’t pay for the live stuff.
Totally agree that Aaron Gwins addition to the commentary box was a great idea, however it was annoying that others were shouting over and didn't let to finish his sentence. Please add someone with great insight on downhill mountain biking such as Gwin or Eliott Jackson and then you can take my money.
A lot of criticism this season of UCI and the broadcast/coverage, some of it justified. But I think things are improving 😀. This race I think: The bad: sad that they canceled the junior’s race. It may or may not have been the right call. The good: I think the broadcast are slowly improving. Good commentators, experts and the mix with interviews and facts. Good photage and graphics with timing/splits. A new track and a great race (sadly no juniors) to watch.
I think having Gwin along what helps with the improvement of the commentary. His inputs not only very refreshing but are also helping to steer the main commentators into the right direction in commentary.
I wonder how much the TV audience has plunged since it's behind a paywall. For one, I haven't followed this season at all since coverage is no longer on RedBull. Bad move from ICU.
Aaron Gwin's commentary was so many levels above the two regulars...hope the Discovery production team was taking notes because THAT is how it's done boys
@gmbnracing got it, and that's understandable. But I have to admit that kid is awesome on a DH bike and fun to watch. Also, a fourth place(or was it fifth🤔)finish ain't that bad after coming back from Appendix surgery. Anyways, 👍🏿👍🏿 by keeping us folks in the states up to date on the world of downhill racing since the absence of Red Bull TV. See y'all at Snowshoe🤘🏿
the benefit of gwin in the box is true... but how the hell did goldstones run - or at least his "scrub jump double" - not make it into the highlights? this was by far the most impressive moment this weekend
I'm no expert, but based on how he was pedaling it looked like in the upper section Loic might have been in too low a gear and could have picked up even more speed if he had been in a higher gear. Still a great run, so that's just nitpicking.
His experience is incomparable to anyone outside of those top guys. He's a multiple world champ and world cup winner, he knew what he was doing. Higher gear would be more difficult in a choppy surface. You're no expert, I agree. So do I. He's fastest on that section. In all sections. I just trust the race winning result. Lol
Gwin is excellent on the commentary, step in the right direction, sack off Cedric, guy is a legend rider of old but is no commentator. Get Katy Winton in!
Can we remove that nonsense heart rate monitor that is repeatedly mentioned. The idea that these top athletes during a maximum sprint effort + race run adrenaline are maxing at 160 is so obviously stupid. Get a better monitor or get rid of it. These guys will be pushing well over 180-200
I thought fort William was the worst course on the schedule somehow they were able to build something even more boring to watch. This trail looks boring and i won’t be looking forward to this race next year.

Listening to Cedric alongside Aaron shows how little Cedric adds to the commentary. A lot of words, no substance.
The coverage doesn't do justice to how fast and steep these tracks are.
Cedric - the master of stating the obvious. "He is looking for his bike right now!" - uh, NS Sherlock.
