We had a power failure. Two days later, I realized my plants were dry. I tried to run the drip system, but kept getting "Err". My box looks like the one on the right in the video. Resetting fixed the problem. I live in Arizona's Sonora Desert, so lack of water is serious for plants. Thanks for the video. The reset is not intuitive, but it's easy when you follow the instructions.
Thank you very much for your video and clear instructions. After several attempts to reset the controller after a power surge, despite having a power surge plug, I was not successful. I followed your instructions and it worked the first time. I was able to reprogram the controller to start irrigating again. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Thank you so much for teaching us this method of re-setting🙏 Your explanation was very clear and easy to understand. I tried this about 8 times, but finally held on the re-set button for about 12 seconds before releasing my fingers. It really worked. Thank you again!
You have to hold the "minus, right arrow, and program buttons" after you release the "reset" button. It will display your old time, and then flash, and then reset.
More specifically, hold minus, right arrow, PRG. Press reset while holding those buttons (I did for 10 seconds). Release the reset, and continue to hold minus, right and prg till it flashes.
Hey this worked great. We had a power transformer blow and totally screwed up the sprinkler system. Did a reset and BAM worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
For everyone having this or similar type of irrigation controller: I just refurbished the older model of this Hunter Pro C. No chance to reset, display occasional function but no ability to control anything and set up time, zones, date, time, year, reset.... I replaced 8 electrolytic capacitors which dried out due to sun hitting the unit directly. Zebra connector between display and the controller board cleaning, shimming to achieve the best I could to see all display segments. Some still do not show properly but controller works and could be set for watering. Internal battery 3 V like in a desk top PC replacement. Some mentioned here that they replaced the 9 V battery and still no memory function. This 3V battery is responsible to hold programed zones and has to be de-soldered and put new in so it is little technical skill to do. Pricing for parts is about 10 bucks plus the work someone does compare 100 - 200 bucks for new unit. Prevent, if you can the sun hitting it directly, you can place there some obstacle in front of it.

Display connection to board is loose/dried out since it is a conductive siliconized pad sandwiched between the display and controller's board. Sun hitting the unit helps to create these issues/extreme temperatures, rain getting in, tapping on the display by finger damaging it or really old unit. Try to gently touch/puch the display if some numbers/segments come back.
