Hi Guys, the label on which Peter plays with John Abercrombie (example „Current events“) is also the the ECM Label. On this label you will also find more recordings on which Peter performs with Bob Mintzer or, Palle Danielsen, etc. I nearly have most of them from this time (80-90s)… all very good recorded and still interesting. It seems that ECM is not very well known in the USA, but in Germany in jazz and world music circles it is (the record from M.Vitous/J.Garbarek/P.Erskine is called STAR and was released 1991). Thank you, all over the world, there are many drummers who are P.Erskine fans, and it it's interesting how everyone "discovered" Peter. For me it was the song "pools" which Steps Ahead played live in Freiburg/Germany in 1984. Unfortunately I wasn't there (I didn't know Steps Ahead, let alone Peter Erskine), but the concert review in the newspaper the next day was so good that I went to the nearest record store and had the LP played. And after a minute I was hooked…
Thanks so much for this episode featuring Peter Erskine. I'm a huge fan of his. In '78 I was in college taking lessons from a guy who took a lesson or 2 from Peter. He told me that Peter was really proud that he & the rhythm section laid down the Airegin track on the Maynard Ferguson album New Vintage in ONE TAKE. His high hat back beat is solid throughout. th-cam.com/video/L4KP2j3dnCg/w-d-xo.html

David was with Maynard Ferguson too ‘
Indeed!
@@drumfactorydirect Maynard always had the best drummers. I liked Rufus Jones, Jake Hannah, Randy Jones, Danny D. Etc
