the issue with ai is that it takes patterns across the internet and amalgamates them; thats why the bee ended up so good, because there are so many bee patterns. the fear of ai taking over the art community comes from the fact its stealing other peoples art :
ai should be used to create robots that can help nurses and medical staff in nursing homes and hospitals so they can be more social with patients, not crochet patterns

@@MadebysgAI emits Less carbon than an 3 person family annually and most of the water can be recycled into clean usable water, so is is it carbon neutral, no, is it good for the environment, no, but it certainly isn’t horrible. I doubt that AI will be able to do mid-level patterns any time soon. AIs like ChatGPT have an issue with generalizing. Let me explain that for the non-CS people: what they did was gather as much data as possible from various sources, label them (i.e., tell the AI how to interpret the information), train the model, validate the model, and then test it. Training means that the AI learns the information, similar to how you'd learn vocabulary/spelling or that 2+2=4. Validation is the important step to ensure the AI can make connections, like from 2+2=4 to 2+1=3 (i.e., understanding the meaning of the +), and correct the AI when needed. This is usually a back-and-forth process of training and validating repeatedly with different batches of data. In the end, a "small" batch of data is used to test how well the AI is performing and to rate it. ChatGPT and generally large language models have the issue that they require vast amounts of data for the training and validation process, and the test data cannot adequately represent the complex problems we don't yet know we will have. Of course, this is being worked on, and the AI is fine-tuned manually by skilled programmers. However, crochet is such a niche that I doubt anyone is actively trying to fix the pattern generation, which is a complicated task even for humans. There are a lot of bad patterns out there, and a non-crocheter cannot tell if they are bad or not. Furthermore, I doubt there’s enough data available to properly train the AI in the first place. I assume ChatGPT is great at doing circles because there are many tutorials for it, and it learned how to do a circle in a way similar to learning 2+2=4. The different tutorials basically say the same thing over and over again, which is great for AI to learn. Thank you for listening to my TED Talk, and I hope I could calm down people about AI and help you guys understand how it works.
I wonder how well the AI would do with a tapestry piece...because it's only text, right? It wouldn't be able to give you a graph or a picture or anything to go off of. I am really curious about that!
I bought a pattern and wanted to make it bigger so I used ai to help me with the math of it all, I haven’t tested it yet because I didn’t have the time at the time. I feel like so long as a person isn’t selling a pattern off of that then its a good option ?
The little dinosaur looks like Pickle from Moriah Elizabeth, and I'm curious about how ChatGPT would interpret the prompt for "write a crochet pattern for Pickle the Dinosaur" or something in the same vibe.... :/
Once the strawberry came out looking like a tomato I would've tested it and asked for a pattern for a tomato to see what it would come up with 😂 The Dino nuggy is so cute! Also, I'm so fed up of seeing AI on every crochet group I'm in on fb and insta, it's literally every other post and people are praising the person that posts it because they think it's their work and not something that AI has produced. Grrrrr, it really makes me so mad
If you do another video, here are some suggestions Write a heart pillow pattern Write a pattern for a Halloween mask Write a pattern for elven ear warmers

What regular people fail to realize about AI (speaking as an IT specialist who uses AI tools on a regular basis) is that AI is simply an "empty brain" you first need to educate on specific topics before expecting it to do anything. It's like those memes where they teach you in class that 1 + 1 = 2 and then on the test be like "Calculate the mass of the Sun". Yeah, it's not going to work, unless you actually spend time educating it on existing patterns, increases and crocheting math. And even then it's not 100% guaranteed that it's going to work, because, well... AI is just re-processing information it already has.
Yes series! People really find a problem with anything you do, that’s must be so exhausting. I don’t understand why people need to click on videos to get on their soap box. Like bffr
its not an issue with HER its the issue with the ethical and environmental impacts of text and image generation. most of us arent fans of climate change and stuff
There are several issues with AI generation. First the energy expended for it to “create” is ridiculous. Second, the real problem is that it can generate amazing photos of crocheted projects and then the patterns are nothing like the photos. Some very unscrupulous people set up ads for amazingly beautiful projects in order to sell patterns. Then unsuspecting people believe that the pattern will ultimately make said projects. Not so. If you had done a quick search on TH-cam of AI generated patterns you could have completely skipped making this video and not have used the AI app at all. You could have linked the YT videos as you asked and answered the question, “Can AI actually make crochet patterns?” The more makers that fall for the deception out there, the more wasted energy. I appreciate your efforts in calming your audience, but a little research would have simplified your efforts.
Yes, if you give it a a good amount of details it’ll give you a pattern that is probably mostly accurate (I’ve been curious myself how it works so I checked that a while back) unfortunately as someone already mention it collects information from patterns that already are published. For sure AI won’t be able to be as good as a real person in creating but I think it’s a great tool to speed up writing a pattern if you have a knowledge about crocheting or knitting and are able to adjust what AI ’created’ (like when you’ve made a solid amount of things using a patterns or you write your own you can easily predict what will be the end result by only looking on written pattern). I hope what I wrote makes sense somehow😅
This video was interesting + some projects was cute (like that strawberry/tomato and bee). I have some ideas for using AI: crochet granny squares (because those are flats), crochet basket, crochet chunky blanket (because you using chunky yarn + bigger hook), crochet bucket hat, crochet market bag or tote bag.
ai alone dont do anything, plus u dont know how to ask to it, to make it work fine u need to be very specific to chat gpt3, for gpt4 its so much easier because have more access to information from internet (but u need to be specific too), chat gpt3 its limited if u learn how to do the questions, its a good tool, basically its for not search manually on google and read or watch so much pages pd: its funny to do does basic questions and do the pattern how chat gives u, another youtuber do that and its so rare xD
Hi, as a one time thing this video was fun, but please don’t make it into a series. AI is super bad for the environment, running even the smallest prompt takes up so much water. I would recommend looking more into it as I am not the best at explaining and I feel like most people don’t know about it
Hi! I've looked this up and it seems as these big companies already know the issue and are solely responsible for findig a solution for their excess water consumption/ reusing the heat that their servers generate so that they don't have to use water to cool it down. It is quite dangerous to take the blame for climate change when we know exactly that the majority of it is caused by governmental decisions, rich people and big companies. Yes, we are responsible for our own decisions in life but Paige (and the rest of us) is not the one to blame here.
I'm sorry but this is a video you shouldn't have made. You used the technology that is currently.destroying the arts community and the crafts. I like you and all, but I won't support this.
YESS series please!! I'm curious about when you get specific with your prompts, such as "no sew long necked dinosaur," but also about doing REALLY complex shapes. My favorite ai crochet patterns I've seen on tiktok are the pokemon ones!
Please. PLEASE. DO NOT MAKE IT A SERIES. I am personally completely against the use of most kinds of AI, but most notably anything that is art related (writing, image, video, or pattern generating.) The more you use these kinds of tools the ""better"" they will be programmed to get because higher demand=higher need for innovation, meaning more work from real artists will need to be unrightfully stolen to feed it. AI is constantly developing but if we unencourage it's use in all art fields ONLY then will we artists not be at risk. Please think it carefully.
Plz do the next video vlog style instead of talking about them if u can 🥺 also plz ask it to do more complex thing that it can’t copy directly from someone!
It’s truly miserable to look for crochet ideas and seeing lumpy unrealistic weirdly smooth ‘crochet’

keep being yourself, generative AI, such as ChatGPT and others, only barely do what data in were in the training, it only gives a clumsy repetition, people are capable of making creative work, and AI is assuming the normalization of lack of independent thinking.
would definitely at the very least research the environmental impacts of these sorts of models before making any further series. if the ethical issues of training on other designers work is not something you object to then perhaps at least the impacts its having on the physical world around us shouldnt be something acceptable. however. i do mean this not as anything mean. if neither of those are things you are concerned about then i will simply engage with other content creators.

Im so very tired of AI infiltrating every art community 😭
It's funny how it couldn't make a star pattern but then made a 6-point star for "tomato" leaves 😆

The prompt word "beginner" is what kept your patterns in basic shapes.
honestly....the dino is kinda cute. imagine blush marks and incorporating spots or using a tye-dyed or spotted color yarn.
Im low key obsessed with the Dino 😂
ive been watching your videos all afternoon while i crochet my hexi cardigan 😭 im early for once!!
yes please do a series. i want to know if it can do something like the turtle game pattern
what a great idea!! love these type of videos, gj paige
The ACOTAR books in the back 👀
The dinosaur was everything!
The "strawmato" looks cute. I think the "star" reminded me of the old Nickelodeon show House of Anubus and that pendant that Nina wore.

YOU LOOK GORGEOUS QUEEN 🤩🤩🤩
Could you have the AI generate an image of the item based on the pattern?
please make this a series! Was very entertaining! Just discovered your channel and subscribed.
I tested it a bit ago with a narwhal pattern. It looks very goofy and not at all like it should
you should defenetly ask for no sew patterns also ask with pictures!
Can it take a picture and convert it to a pattern IE a beanie.
i’ll try that👀

how can you fine AL
Did it provide the pattern for the Leafs on the strawberry, similar to a star shape.
yes!
try with asking it for some granny squares!
I think if there was a why to tell if it worked or not it might get better tho
Please don’t normalize the use of ai.
The dinosaur kind of looks like a dog/cat toy lol
this was awesome paige and i really liked it!!! have ai do a pokémon or something or clothes!
please ask if it can come up with a hat crochet pattern
loved this!!!
Personally I am not a fan of AI when it comes to crochet… idk why but I don’t like it.
If you do another video, here are some suggestions
Write a heart pillow pattern
Write a pattern for a Halloween mask
Write a pattern for elven ear warmers
it would be interesting to make same request but for a PRO level
It was fun I enjoyed your video about Ai crochet patters. Can wait to see what other patterns you ask it to make.
Bravo, for taking this topic on. Very unique and wowza…interesting outcome.
yayyyy new videoo😁
No but why is the Dino kinda cute?
How well would it work for a woman’s sweater or cardigan???
That star is terrifying. 🎉
I love the dino 😂
please try a crochet plushie just to see what it comes up with
