- We focus our attention on the piston and rings as well as gaskets in that general area. We need full compression to get faster. I put on new rings, hone the cylinder and heat cycle the urban for a later test ride.
The struggle to get a jug over the rings is real! Awesome video! An old fellow at my local bike shop suggested that after a honing, immediately rinse the jug soapy water and hit all orifices with soapy water and a light bottle brush to remove all oil and metal debris, followed immediately by a good douse of WD-40 in all orifices of the jug. When installing, apply a light coat of 2 stroke oil in the bore. Your method is pretty sound, too! You should have shown getting the wrist clips in. That’s where the swearing starts in my shop.
Clean work! Everything done perfectly. Nice!
Nicely done sir, when I rebuilt my Honda express engine I did a little polishing by the transfer ports on the engine side and I made the new oil gallery. I noticed that the side that didn’t have the oil passage the bearing from that side was toast, so hopefully that should help with lubrication in the future.
There's so much good info here than you my cylinder has one small single scratch barely feel able thanks so much for the help I didn't gap my rings from the piston that came however I noticed no scoring im going to mess with my aitochoke today
So, you don't use that extra ring spacer on your rebuilds? I've always wondered if I should use it or skip it.
It just depends on the ring gap. If the ring gap is really large, I'll use the ring expander.
@@jackrutherford-1 ok. Thanks
I put it on mine. It comes with an OEM ring kit if you order an OEM one. @noped Thursday, I suspect you could be right about this being original.
