The fact that some of you still dont get it is quite staggering. The PGMOL have said very clearly, and I quote. VAR is only there for a clear and obvious error. It cannot re-referee the game. Yesterday's decision was a subjective one. Some referees will say yellow, and some referees will say red. The referee decided it was a yellow. There were no clear and obvious errors. VAR simply cannot get involved. They have done exactly what we were told they cannot do. They have re-refereed the game.

    • @grahamsmith1978
      @grahamsmith1978 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

Every decision barring offside and goals is a subjective decision so highlighting this as subjective is a moot point.
VAR gets involved when they see a clear error, which they obviously thought this was. It should have been red initially.
At some point they will referee the game, it's what they are there to do in part and this was a great example of where they should.
They never said they cannot re - referee as you quoted. Share the link to where they said that.

      1. A video assistant referee (VAR) is a match official, with independent access to match footage, who may assist the referee only in the event of a ‘clear and obvious error’ or ‘serious missed incident’ in relation to:
      c. Direct red card (not second yellow card/caution)
      3. The original decision given by the referee will not be changed unless the video review clearly shows that the decision was a ‘clear and obvious error’.
      4. Only the referee can initiate a ‘review’; the VAR (and other match officials) can only recommend a ‘review’ to the referee.
Var does not "re-referee", the final decision is always the referee's and he wouldn't change his mind if he knows he didn't make a mistake.

I agree on that one, the 2 previous were an absolute joke. But this one, Saliba has to take the blame. First the player is at the halfway line, so Saliba has plenty of time to catch him (and Saliba has really good pace). It is on Arteta for fielding 3 DMF against Bournemouth, instead of playing brave and putting youngsters with pace that can hurt Bournemouth when they press us so high the only fast players on the pitch were Caliofori and Sterling that lost his pace ,why with our defensive shape any player that is fast and can dribble is causing us problems, with just 3 players up front they can score goals against us while we need 6 or 7 players and when we create a chance we shoot at the worst time when we get blocked, all that effort and collected points against stronger opposition means nothing if we are gonna lose points against the likes of Bournemouth, West Ham, Fulham. Arteta was so focused on defence that players forgot attack movement and patterns of play in front of goal , without Odegard we play so bad but Arteta won't give a chance to fresh blood that are hungry for game time that will cost him.

The loss to Bournemouth should serve as a wake-up call for Arteta. He had the entire summer to purchase or loan replacements for key players, but he didn’t. Now, we’re seeing the impact of missing players like Saka and Odegaard, who make a significant difference when unavailable. Does this mean we’re not strong enough to win without them? Arteta needs a reality check.
What could make this season even more challenging for him is if Arsenal fails to win the EPL, but the new Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, goes on to win it. That would be a major blow and an embarrassment for both Arteta and the team, signalling that something fundamentally wrong at Arsenal and needs to be addressed.
As for the next game, I’m not getting my hopes up, but I wish the Arsenal team and Arteta the best of luck.

There’s a common denominator here, Arsenal doing stupid shit. They want to stop getting reds, stop breaking the rules and chancing a call. Undisciplined and UNNECESSARY actions led to all three reds. Ref made a wrong decision that was clear and obvious for starters. He didn't have a clear picture of everything for that to happen he would have to be looking at Ben White whilst watching the foul. Whilst it may seem he could of seen both at the same time he was probably more focused on the foul rather than if White could make it back in time to cover Saliba

why you didn't talk about Arsenal goal keeper how many mistakes he does today? the whole problem is from the way the Arsenal built up it game it is slow and easy to break it . The whole Arsenal problem is Arteta with his tactic to play from the back which every team in the league knows how to stop it. Again and again I tell you as long as Arteta is the manager Arsenal will never win nothing.

I feel your pain DT. All good points. Martinelli has to bury it. The two mistakes were appalling. Trossard puts Saliba in one of those do I/don't I situations. Idiot. His carelessness costs us big time again. The contact was minimal and the striker goes down out of choice. But, Saliba was the last man. He's gotta trust his ability to get back and make a tackle from there. He shouldn't be giving the ref the decision to make. We know how refs are paranoid about being soft on us. The pen was just clever play from the striker, initiating contact by falling into Raya. Raya shouldn't have gone down, cover was coming. The ref was clearly nervous all the way through. Howard Webb should not attend games in person without a disguise, the ref must've felt under huge pressure not to be seen to be lenient with him there looking on. Stupid mistakes cost us this time though. Now Liverpool without William. How do we recover in time from that pile of shit?

Naw, you have to be overly critical with Martinelli. He has to score that chance. He has the whole left and right side of the goal… Bottom and top corners. He decides to shoot right at the keeper because he keeps his head down, a problem that we have all seen with him. You go one nil up and then shut up shop, maybe you win that game.

I can't blame the referees. We were very poor. We have so many centre backs but struggle when Saliba is missing.
I blame Arteta, too. Why play Trossard out wide when he was doing well playing the #10 role since Odeggard has been injured? He changed Trossard's position to play Merino as a #10 , who was very poor. He doesn't even look like a #10. Then he has Ethan on the bench, who he brings on at 80 minutes. Why can't Ethan get a start? He looked much better than Merino in his short spell on the field. He should have removed Merino instead of Sterling after the sending off. At the time Sterling looked like the biggest goal threat.
