My girlfriend showed me your channel yesterday before we went to a rink (for my first time) and I seriously appreciate all of the years of your content already. I'm going through a very hard time with my family right now and I'm trying to find new hobbies to stay healthy and mentally strong. I absolutely love your teaching style and I can't wait to improve bit by bit
Oh you have come to the right place my skater friend. Skating will heal so many ailments. It works on the mind, body and soul. I am so hopeful for you. ❤💛💚❤
That's me - trying to do one foot pivots without strengthening the two foot pivots! 🤣I'll show you my progress at FVSC in a month, Dirty Deborah!!! :-)
Thanks Dirty, this tutorial arrived just in time!! I watched this several times before I got to practice tonight, and everything was spot on as you instructed. Oddly enough doing these rolling ended up being a lot easier than stationary. Looking forward to your next tutorial :D. On a separate note, I don't think I've seen you do a video on plates but could you talk about things we should know about different characteristics and how that translates into skating? I'm ready to upgrade my plate and have done a lot of research but there is so much info out there so could use some help even though I think I may have some ideas of what to upgrade to. However, it would be nice if you could talk about things like kingpins angles, wheel clearance, skate styles, low plates (e.g. sure grip low riders) etc. 90% of what I know from skating I have learned from your channel so your input would be absolutely invaluable :).
Any recommendations for outside wheels? I have Bont Outdoor Skating wheels: 62x35mm 83A. They seem too grippy for some maneuvers, but are good for safety on asphalt. Tried loosening my trucks, but that didn't solve the problem. I have Rollerbones derby style wheels for the outdoor hockey rink concrete. These varieties in surface really have an impact on developing skills. P.S.: I'm on the small side and am seriously thinking about switching out my cushions.
I still can't stop on a dime or skate backwards. My confidence was damaged when I went from skating to flat on my back on the court. Is there a progression of steps to learn in order from Move 1 - X ? There has to be things you have to do before you can move onto the next level right?
How did you know I just started practicing this!!
Exactly 😭

That is a great idea!
Now let’s see the one footed pivots!
Next video my friend. But .. if you look at my footwork video playlist, you will find them there.
@ awesome thank you!
Omg early!!!
Rollerbones are great but for bearings on skates, Swiss MOTO are amazing.
