I have been a Metal Fabricator & Race car builder for over 40 years and grew up in Southern California (at one point in Torrance not far from Ascot Park) both Ascot and Riverside played crucial parts in my career in professional Motorsports without a doubt! Riverside was my home track as I helped my friend in SCCA GT-4 racing. I would go to Ascot any weekend that I could, I found out that if you had a welder they would let you into the infield for free and because of that I made some connections that led me to my first job in professional Motorsports working for Electromotive Engineering building and campaigning GTP endurance cars and Stadium off-road trucks in the MTEG series. Thus began a over a 40 career that I still do to this day! All because of those two tracks! Side note I’ve been able to race at Watkins Glenn many times and have driven or followed the old original course that go right through downtown!

Riverside is both a shopping center and townhomes, Ascot Park is now a Insurance Auto Auction site

At the 22:00 mark, the announcer reports, Parnelli won the 1962 Indy 500. The fact is, he won the 1963 500, not the 1962 500.

Riverside " First Road course of its type in the world". Phillip Island in Australia was just over 6 miles in length and built in 1928.
