    I can still feel and smell the leather of my old GP95 pads, GM21 glove and GM12 blocker. Nothing like the scent of leather, wool and deer hair a few minutes after the Zamboni lays it down. Northland lie 14 stick, Cooper SK400 mask and Tackaberry goalie skates round it out. Wouldn't want to wear my old chestie and arm protection in today's era with 80 flex sticks.

    Your collection is absolutely insane. We all knew it was extensive but this brings it into perspective. You have more gear in there than the Original six did.

      @@CooperGoalie let me just go into 20-30 years worth of goalie history to figure out what to wear. First word goalie problems.

    Wow, that brings back memories. I had a GM12 blocker, a GM21st trapper and the same pads you are wearing. Seems like ages ago and I wondered how anyone could play the current style using that equipment. Well you answered it. I now have the most current gear including newest warrior pads and chesty. I now play in Utrecht The Netherlands, but I think maybe some arenas wouldn't let you wear that mask in Canada for insurance reasons. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

      Thanks for the comment! I really enjoy when folks that remember using this stuff see the videos and let me know their thoughts and memories. I typically bring a spare mask with me when I use the fiberglass face hugger...that way if a rink person DOES have an issue with it..i can just swap to an 80s helmet combo.

    That equipment makes the goalie look like either Gilles Gilbert from the Boston Bruins 1973-74 .. 1979-80. Or, Jim Craig from Team USA that won the Olympic Gold medal in 1980.

      @CooperGoalie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That mask makes the whole kit gel together. I only ever wore one for street hockey, but I remember how amazing the sight lines were. I definitely prefer the cage from a safety standpoint, but the vision in the old masks was incredible.
    The basement is looking amazing. It reminds me of the used gear room at my favourite gear store...except yours is WAY neater :)

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, I’m glad I made the decision to go with the fiberglass for this one, it definitely finished the look perfectly.
      Sections of the basement are typically a mess, but I always keep the gear racks organized. It helps me when I have to shop for a kit to know where it all is, and that’s all grouped together appropriately.

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That mask fit so well too! I realized mid game that I kept using my blocker hand to feel my head...and it hit me that I was subconsciously checking to see if I was wearing anything. There was ZERO obstruction of view and it fit well, so my brain kept feeling like I might have forgot to put something on.
      As for the Miller, I'm hoping whomever may have used it steps up and lets us know soon.

      For gear, keep your eyes on local Facebook marketplace ads, Craigslist, used sporting goods stores, etc. For using on the pond, try not to get anything TOO great in condition. The pond ice won’t do it any favors.
      For masks, there are many reputable mask makers and many not so great. Join the Vintage Goalie Equipment group on Facebook and ask for some suggestions in a post there.

    I don't know where you are staying, but between going to visit a museum and going to your house, the choice would be easy! I have a question...all your leggings have what size? I have 10 legging kits and it varies between 34+2, 35+2, 36+1 and 37+1. I have a preference for 37+1...what is it for you?

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no “+” in this gear. Nearly all of the pads are either 32”, 33”, or 34”. A few pieces are 30” or 31”. There is a lot of variation between manufacturers as for similarity of size. Like a 30” Miller Lancer (90’s pad) fits me more like a Cooper 32” 90s pad. I’m very comfortable in the 32-34” range without really noticing any difference in how they feel.
      THANK YOU for the question. That was one I don’t get asked very often.
