She revealed as much when she was talking with Acheron and said “I can no longer see the faces of those I kill in my dreams anymore” Also, if we are to believe that she is from the Glamoth Knights, she must be ANCIENT, since the Glamoth knights existed at the time of the swarm disaster and fought against the hordes of Tazzyronth.
The "i dont see there faces" bit was referencing her complete inability to dream, not meant to imply she is just that cruel. Acheron asked if she sees their faces in FF's dreams, she says "no, I cannot dream. I actually envy your ability to dream at all."

Female protag roles were not common back in the day, so this was a shock to many players of it. Sam being Firefly being a Metroid reference, this isn't the first time MiHoYo referenced Nintendo properties. In the HI3rd manga, "Second Eruption", there's a single panel where you see nearby Siegfried's bed, is a Nintendo Famicom, 1 to 1. The JP version of the NES. I knew about the leaks and "denial" of Firefly's death, but I chose not to believe it, as I assumed it was another fake "leak", as "leaks" are often nothing but rumors, but since I DID hear about the leaks, the plot twist didn't really hit me. I did my best though, to hide it from my brothers. One of them is disappointed by the reveal, not because of spoilers, but because he thought of it as some bad trope being used. The other I told him to progress in the story, as he was slacking off on story progression, and I wanted him to finish the story we have currently, before version 2.3 drops, as Firefly in 2.3's gatcha would spoil the plot twist for him. Like how my first day of HI3rd, I was spoiled of "Herrscher of Flamescion", because it was on the beginner gatcha at the time of me playing the game for the first time
They need time to process the plot twist of Firefly, that's why. It's moreso him not giving them a break to process the plot twist, as you typically want to not have much going on while you process what you just saw that left an impact on you learning it
