No wonder she got the golden buzzer. First, she sings, not just sings! She is amazing! Acapella. That means it is just her and only her, no help from the instrumental. She sings a traditional song, which is not common in these contests, most of performers usually sing popular songs. She chose the hard way. In a way it is emotional choice to win the hearts of the audience, but, in order to get there, you need to be flawless. She did it the right way.
This is a pretty difficult song to sing even for the natives, let alone for somebody who is from the other part of the world, who speaks a different language, coming from a different culture. It was a bold decision, a show of respect and her confidence of her abilities.
I'm not Croatian, but I know their culture quite well, I'm a neighbour, a Slovenian who lived in Croatia for ten years, so I will be arrogant enough to claim I know their culture pretty well.
As I understand she is in Croatia for less than a year now and she sings in Croatian language, moreover, in a dialect which is pretty different from ''proper'' Croatian. BTW, Croatia has a few pretty distinguished dialects, each with it's nuances, they could be even distinguished as different languages. Fun fact, there are greater differencies between Croatian dialects than between Croatian and Serbian language.
What she did is respect of local tradition and confidence in her abilities. She really knows how to sing! She chose a right song, she was able to showcase her vocal abilities and it also helped her to win the audience.
Croatians are not very opened to the other people, but when you show them your respect, you get their respect. Which is, at least in my book, the proper way. Respect is not given, it has to be earned.
In this case, my respect goes to Chriztel for her performance and also to the audience which recognized her talent, respect and modesty. BTW, it also shows she is brought up the right way, so, cudos to her parents, mostly her mother and also to her stepfather, they, obviously, did their job right.
I'm not a prophet, but I see a bright future for this young lady and I can't wait to hear hrom her more!

Declaring that Croats in Croatia have a worse understanding of the language than Croats and Serbs can be said by someone who has no idea or is malicious. To state that Croats are closed to other people is also a malicious statement, especially at this time when the whole world has discovered beautiful Croatia with an emphasis on beautiful, friendly people, ready to help in any way. A testament to her talent is the fact that even people who don' t understand the lyrics are moved to tears. I know the song and she performed it in a beautiful, unique and emotional way. She is building bridges between Croatia and Philippines, I truly think that one day the whole world will know this amazing singer and both people will be proud of her!
