The 00's had Cena as their big attraction just as much if not more than even the treatment Rock and Austin were given.
Hulk is right, but an attraction who loses their connection with the fans can be catastrophic. Hogan in 1998 and 1999 ended up hurting WCW because he didn't have the same heat he had in the 80's or he had 1996-1997 at the peak of NWO. Just like with Cena, business was up when he first won in 2005, but once it set in and many fans turned on him, business started going down again.

Don’t know what you’re talking about, most wrestlers coming out nowadays are trained by different people, especially ones coming from small promotions. I feel like you’re complaining just to complain, in ring wrestling has never been better in history. It’s harder to get away with being sloppy or especially unsafe. We even have huge guys that can do it all being technicians, high flyers and your typical striker, not your typical 5 moves and a finish type of wrestler. Not to mention doing all of this without becoming a roid head, pain killer fiend or dying before 40 from these issues. Todays wrestling formula is better in every way

Very strange retaliation strategy. The fact is, people agree with me. Why? I’m telling the truth. My topic has nothing to do with safety. Pro wrestling has never been more impressive? That’s not what television ratings tell us. You can combine television ratings with TH-cam viewership within a week with all numbers combined from each video and it wouldn’t exceed television ratings from the golden age or Attitude Era. The cultural influence that pro wrestling has on society isn’t what it once was. Why? Less eyeballs. The more interesting the product is, the larger your fanbase is. You must be under the age of 25.

Part of the reason why the Golden era was so amazing was due to all of the individual identities of the territories converging into one company and making a wildly unique product and cast of characters/ styles.
And that era eventually set the stage for the Monday night wars because in a way it was a lot of the older wwe guys in wcw pitted against the new crop of WWF guys. And ironically enough many of the good rising WWF guys were previously in wcw like Austin, triple H, taker, goldust, mankind etc... but under/ improperly utilized

And all the new artists out there trying to cut their teeth are expected to have their best work already up front, given absolutely no time to find their direction first. Back in the 90s, artists would get signed first without a selling hit song to offer up front, but then a few albums down the line, they’d become household names and write absolute gold. Sadly, this is no longer the case with how the record labels operate these days. It’s basically like you said, they all want the “sure thing”. Absolutely no risks EVER . Wreslting is dying now because of the exact opposite. No star power means no one cares to watch. The wreslters ran the show in the 90s and early 2000s, every since McMahon got rid of that element and took full creative control, well thats when everythihg went to shit and became unwatchable.

Such a fascinating statement. I agree that the kayfabe era made such larger than life, over the top gimmicks and performances possible. But “made things look real” is something I’d apply more to the pre-WWF guys of the territories era, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Nick Bockwinkel, etc. Plus, of course, the stiff strong-style wrestling of Japan, and in a completely different sense, the Everyman hardcore brawlers of ECW (believable, relatable characters engaging in actually dangerous levels of violence). But honestly, I just listened to CM Punk’s opening promo for AEW Colliseum, and I felt the exact same pop I got from watching Macho Man from the 80’s or Austin from the 90’s.
