The jellyfish with missiles had me in stitches. I see what they mean by 8-bit like game. It's like Seafox from Broderbund 'except you shooting down instead of up. Great review.
Didn't those jellyfish look suspiciously similar to those Blood Money ones? But of course, better armed! 😁
@@gearsofgames Great observation!
US Gold ..its in the name ! great video as always sir !
Thank you kindly, @CouchCoop128!
i enjoyed watching this game!
I was familiar with 'In the hunt' from Irem but didn't know there was a game so similar in theme from so many years before.
Interesting that you should mention "In the Hunt", I am actually planing to make a video about the arcade version. Looks gorgeous! Also seems to have more straightforward shooter gameplay, compared to "The Deep".
Im so glad i dodged the bullet and went down the Amiga route back then.. those custom chips made all the difference..
They certainly do make a difference and I was close to getting an Amiga at first. But I am still happy I got an ST, had lots of fun with it and it led me to start messing with MIDI and music.
(based on a Spectrum game? )
It's based on a pretty obscure arcade game from 1987, by Wood Place Inc.
I would never have thought to press that key to transform back then 😑. What's wrong with space?
Yeah and ALT is next to the space key anyway, so why not just go with the bigger key?!
Looks and plays like a well crafted STOS License ware Budgie title
Ahh STOS, happy memories :)
Should I be a jellyfish I would equip myself with missiles.
I suppose that is a pretty solid idea! Given how the tourist boats in the area are armed with depth charges! 😁
Not a bad conversion of an arcade game that wasn't that good in the first place, especially considering the Atari ST wasn't great at horizontal scrolling since it lacked the hardware the Amiga had.
Yeah, the conversion is certainly decent and nice that they added some game play to make it a bit more interesting.
