How many generations of Malays is that? So he is Malay, not 'mamak. Simple as that.

That Korean dancer girl, I'm actually glad her parents sent her to international school where she met other people and able to be exposed to different cultures. I can't imagine her being sent to a local Malaysian school, the culture shock she would have and she would definitely be been bullied by other kids in her school and being continued into her adult years, just like what I experienced in South East Asia when my parents put me to a local university. That being said, her parents must've received a huge wage being able to put her in an international school, which in the end worked for her.

Interesting to see expats moving to Malaysia end up speaking English and not the official national language - whatever this is called. When expats settle in Indonesia they end up speaking Bahasa Indonesia (a standardised and modernised version of Johor-Riau Malay) or even Bahasa Jakarta (creole Malay). And Malaysia not long ago wanted to push Malay language as an official UN language. Why do you call Dr. Mahathir mamak. He is Malay. His grandfather was from Kerala, a teacher of English at the Kedah palace, and then married a Malay. His father was the first principal of Sultan Abdul Hamid College and also married a Malay of Wan descent from the Kedah nobility. Dr. Mahathir himself married a Malay. How many generations of Malays is that? So he is Malay, not 'mamak. Simple as that.

Bahasa Indonesia is the new lingua franca of the region and Malaysia should adopt Bahasa Indonesia as its national language because it is neutral and spoken by many ethnic groups and religious backgrounds across the Nusantara archipelago.
