I Get it. I just had my 14 brain surgery .I have to fight to get up get cleaned up. You would think it would be easy by now. But it is not. Hugs and prayers. The walk made you tired. Rest.
Here they left mine in to come out on there own. 2 years + they were still working its way out. Very painful.
So happy your boy friend is helping you. He is sweet.

Oh, you poor thing! That all just sounds so painful. I remember the day after my wisdom teeth came out in 1986 I had opening day at Little League for two of the kids, complete with pictures that had to be taken, and two games. My face was so bruised and swollen that a little boy asked me if I’d gotten hit by a baseball! I can’t imagine all the pain you had been in with those bone splinters before they realized what was going on. This too shall pass. I’m glad you are feeling much much better now and I hope your vacation is wonderful. I’m pretty sure you’ve earned it!

Romee I hope you are completely healed and doing fine by now . Some breeze thru wisdom teeth removal and others like you and I have problems. I was in the hospital in a big room with 3 other girls . All 21 . What a story . I cringed every time I saw you with that huge straw . Dry socket, which I had is something I would never want anyone to get . You looked amazing through the whole process. ✌️💜

I had to have one of my wisdom teeth removed, at age 70! It would've needed a crown. (Though I have crowns on my upper wisdom teeth) Anyhow, I miss that tooth! It was a functioning tooth for 70 years, lol! (Now, the upper has no biting surface to meet it.) BUT, did not feel any pain having it out. (Oral surgeon knockedme out.) Keep yours, if you can!

I have multiple chronic autoimmune diseases and other health issues. I have to force myself to do self-care too. It's such a struggle! I used to borrow my husband's electric razor to shave my legs as i couldnt stand in the shower long enough to do it. I finally broke down and bought my own electric shaver and that was one of the best investment I've done! I can shave anytime and not worry about being in the shower too long and passing out.

Finally he got my mom to examine it and she actually saw something (it was a bone splinter) and he told her to grab it with the tweezers. She pulled out a good sized piece, and he said it really hurt for about a minute, then it stopped, and healed up shortly. So glad you had Jeff to take care of you!

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed in one go about 1980 & one side of my jaw was painful for about a week or so after & I couldn't eat on that side or stand anything cold on it & then, I felt a hard thing in my mouth & there was a chunk of part of a tooth that I spit out in my hand & after that it all healed up with no problem. I'd never heard of anyone else having this issue, but I guess it's more common than I thought! I think the tooth shattered when the dr. gripped it to pull it out & the part of it dropped back into the socket & tried to heal but couldn't until the foreign object in the socket worked its way out. Hope you're feeling better & enjoy your trip. After they pulled the teeth, they gave them back to me in a little packet & that extra chunk fit perfectly into one of the teeth.

That's crazy.. Back when I had ALL my wisdom teeth removed, I didn't swell at all! I even had went in with an impacted wisdom tooth and then even got dry socket. But out dentist's out here automatically numb you up real good, and you leave with a prescription for pain relievers Lortab. Plus you alternate it with the anti-inflammatory, ibuprofen! When I got dry socket after, they just gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and got a different pain reliever, percocet.

Prior to having my wisdom tooth removed, I had no fears of going to the dentist. I was referred to a dental hospital because my upper wisdom tooth was growing outwards at a fast rate. I was having my wisdom tooth removed by a trainee dentist who was being supervised.
The first injection to numb me “popped” which sent a searing pain right through my skull. They then checked if I was numb and I told them I could feel the needle. They told me it’s just pressure I can feel despite me explaining repeatedly that I could still feel the sharp needle testing if I was numb enough.
An hour and a half into the procedure, I had been screaming the place down with the pain and sobbing heavily. I could feel every part of the tools used to try and extract my tooth. They decided to give me more injections in my gum which numbed me up this time. It was just over another 45 minutes before they eventually extracted the wisdom tooth… I must have looked a right mess because on my journey back home, passengers on the train and bus kept asking if I was okay. My face looked like a hamster that had stored lots of food in its cheeks…
The next day I woke up with a grossly swollen face and my glands under my chin were huge. There was also a god awful stench coming from my mouth along with intense pain. I had to go straight back to the back to the dental hospital to see the emergency dentist. I was diagnosed with dry socket and a bad infection. I had to have my gum packed for a month with this special antibiotic gauze. It was also revealed that when they took my wisdom tooth out, they had snapped the root of the tooth which was embedded in the gum….
I still get a sore gum due to the snapped root what was left in my gum.
After this experience, I have major anxiety going to any dentists. So I really feel for you Romee, I hope it all settles down really well for you.🤞🍀

  • @broken_rebirth

The first thing I thought when I saw your swelling was "OMG she has an abscess." You can get one due to bone splinters, an infected tooth, having a tooth knocked out and not treating it and it gets infected, bone infection...even blunt force trauma. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out they were impacted and I got all 4 taken out. I explained to my dentist that I'm sensitive to hard core painkillers and would rather avoid taking them. What can I do instead? He recommended freezing wet greentea bags. So I got decaf, as it did not matter, and literally spent 3 days with chipmunk cheeks as I refused to remove the tea bags. I mean I changed them out. But I froze new ones and had this constant supply of frozen tea bags waiting. I ate smoothies and yogurt. Nothing hot. I could sleep fine but I did sleep with my head elevated due to some bleeding issues. I have naturally thin blood. I took just advil, which did not help my bleeding of course but Tylenol does NOTHING for me. So all in all, in 7 days my stitches dissolved and I only took 3 of my 7 antibiotic pills as they impact my birthcontrol. My birthcontrol is used to treat my premenstrual dysphoric disorder so I can't have my hormones going wacko. I literally took one on the first day, 3rd day and 7th and by then I felt 100% fine. Still tender and some scar tissue where the incisions were made. Otherwise fine.
So yea. Your tooth extraction went HORRIBLE and for that I am truly sorry!

Ugh, I can sort of relate. I didn't have bone splinters (which sound horrifying), thank God, but all four of them were cut out at the same time under local anesthesia in the late 80s. This was on a Friday, and my parents and I left that afternoon on a preplanned trip to the Smoky Mountains. I was so miserable. The pain was insane, and both sides of my face swelled up to the point I looked like a chipmunk. I couldn't do solid foods, so for about 18 hours I had liquids only and was pretty weak. The next day I thought I was feeling better, so I joined my mom and her friends on a shopping trip to some of the outlet stores there. I came very close to fainting in one of them, so that was the end of shopping for me. I guess the painkillers the dentist had prescribed gave me a certain bravado, LOL.
So glad you're feeling better and found out what the problem was! Sounds like torture!

Romme I am sorry that you had to go through that because it is definitely not fun and not being able to eat anything but soft food is boring. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed when I was 16. I had started having jaw pain while I was visiting the family of the exchange student we had hosted the year before. Because I have a small jaw they were impacted and coming in horizontally pushing my existing teeth forward. Thankfully only the bottom front2 teeth crossed slightly. However shortly after the surgery I had managed a little soup while my Dad got my prescription for Tylenol with codine which was the standard pain medication for dental work back in the early 1980s. I took it after my soup and headed up to my bedroom with my special ice pack shaped to go around the face on both sides. I had barely laid down before I knew I was going to vomit. My room is just around the corner from the bathroom Unfortunately I barely made it to my doorway before I started projectile vomiting on the relatively new carpet in the hallway. It turned out that I was highly allergic to the codine in the pain medication. My parents called the oral surgeon and basically that was the only thing that they could prescribe. They suggested that I take3-4 of the regular Tylenol and continue icing my jaw. I was still in a lot of pain but thankfully I have a very high pain tolerance level that would definitely come in handy in the future. Two weeks later I went in to get the stitches removed and while doing so my surgeon discovered that I had bone splinters in all 4 locations. He was shocked because the most he had ever seen was in maybe 1 or 2 spots, but not all 4. He used local anesthesia to numb my mouth up again and it took awhile to find and remove all of the splinters. I had to start icing again and eat only soft foods for another week or two and take Tylenol as needed. Dad took me out for ice cream and said that I didn't have to go back to finish out the school day since my appointment had been more complicated and longer than expected. I am very thankful that I do have a really high pain tolerance because after watching my older sister go through getting her wisdom teeth removed and nothing reduced her pain. She took the same medication that they prescribed to me, but she was also drinking alcohol and probably took some illegal drugs because she was a drug addict at the time and didn't get completely clean and sober for another 3 years. She was trying to hide the fact that she was still doing drugs and that she was using harder drugs than what my parents knew about. She wasn't taking the types of drugs that you hear about in the new today because thankfully they weren't around back then. We lost my older brother two weeks ago only one week after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and end stage liver cancer. He was in a lot of pain and was refusing treatment because the cancer had spread to much. He consented to be hospitalized for pain management only. The day he died my sister, who is a nurse Learned that it was lung cancer and not pancreatic cancer. I have unfortunately lost 2 of my older siblings over the last two years which really hurts my heart because my sister's death could have been prevented if she had told us that she had a UTI which turned into a kidney infection and then went to her brain and that she couldn't pay for the medication. As she hadn't been able to find a job after moving back to Maryland after spending a few years in Georgia. If we had known we would have given her the money and I would have been happy to have her move in with my husband, daughter and I. She was the eldest of the 8 children in my family and we had already lost our brother Ricky to AML when he was only five years old and then Mom passed away in 2011 just months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer in addition to all of the crazy other life threatening health issues that would come up in the next year and a half. Dad passed away in 2018 7 years after Mom died. Because I have survived all of the crazy and unbelievable different complications, life threatening infections, allergic reactions, multiple spinal cord injuries and surgeries, two types of cancers and have experienced a few miracles along the way I have felt some survivors guilt when I learned about the death of someone I know that didn't survive when her cancer returned or when my brother died recently. I don't know why he waited so long before going to the doctor to get checked out because he knew better than to mess around and delay getting checked because he was diagnosed with hepatitis C in his twenties and had been doing pretty well for the last 30+ years.
I hope your dental journey will end with your pain going away quickly and you can get back to enjoying life with Jeff and your friends and family.

THe bone splinters sound like torture.I had 5 impacted molars removed in one shot. The bruises made me look like a beating survivor. Then one of the sutures fell out too soon so a dry socket developed. That hurt so badly I could not stand. The surgeon found me sitting in front of of his reception door because they had forgotten to unlock it that morning. Fortunately he was able to treat it. That's a pain you don't want to experience more than once in a lifetime.

Wow what a terrible experience you went thru dear Romee. Glad it's done eh! Enjoy your vacation both of you. Both my daughter had wisdom teeth out with complications.
I never had wisdom teeth, can u believe that?
Several yrs ago tho I had a terrible, most painful dental experience after a dental procedure, can't remember if just a cleaning, tooth removal or what, but a couple of days later I was looking for an emergency appointment as regular dentist was on holidays. Found one who did nothing. Ended up in ER, was put on emergency iV antibiotics and iV pain meds for next 7 days every 12 hrs as I had a most severe sort of infection. I then got surgery to take out affected tooth. But my face, was so swollen, bone, jaw, gums that surgeon had a lot of difficulty getting tooth out. My throat was almost swollen shut and he was debating on rushing me to hospital to do surgery (I was in a very posh dental office) where surgeries are done. I was lightly knocked out.
Am now suffering a major MRSA flare-up, leg, foot have infected holes in them so need to go to hospital for drainage, antibiotics. 2016 had 2 huge holes develop in cheek butts (1 at a time) needing to be drained, was 1st one I was told was MRSA, so needed a special specific treatment. Needed daily dressing changes.

I had bone splinters when they removed them it was so much better. I hope they told you to never eat dairy or drink out of a straw after any time after surgery. You can get dry sockets from straws and yeast infections in your wound from dairy.

Be careful if the fruit has seeds. They could get in the socket. No seeds. No straws. You look great. You can tell you don’t feel good but you still look good. You should eat soft food. Pudding, scrambled eggs, thru today any way. I hope you don’t have a dry socket. I had one and I was miserable. Take care.

I’ve had wisdom teeth pulled, the recovery is much harder than the actual removal, I got dry socket in one of mine, over a weekend when my usual dentist is closed, but because he was the only one I trusted (I had a HUGE phobia of the dentist) I waited until Monday morning to go back and get it packed. Mmmm clove 😂

Oh Romee, you been through it! So sorry you had those bone splinters. Taking out wisdom teeth is so painful. I did have to laugh at you tho when you had a bag of vegetables on your cheek with a big hair band, or whatever that was holding it. You kinda looked like a pirate 🤣. Glad your feeling better now. Enjoy your vacation with Jeff! Until next time, take care of yourself ❤❤❤❤
