    I just repaired a leather wingback recliner. The arm you use to push back to recline was worn and had ripped into about a 4" hole. This was originally an expensive recliner I did not want to replace, not because of the cost, but because this was my dad's chair and he has since passed. It is a chair of memories and now can remain just that thanks to this product.

    The only thing I would have done different. Is have a scrap piece of leather or vinyl, that you could gently press on the patched area to add that leather look and texture. It hides the patched areas much better and provides the striations to the skin.

  • @foxxeeyy
    @foxxeeyy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    WOW! Just wow! I would be very patient in the placement of the fabric material under the leather to ensure that it is absolutely flat as the first step and to ensure that the repair glue material that is slathered onto the leather to bond is made flat before it dries and the dye is applied [I'm sure my terms for products aren't correct but you get my meaning] so as to avoid any bulging in the finished product. It is an amazing finish though considering what it was before. Though, I wouldn't put the chair/sofa that has been repaired from a ripped condition in a room where children and animals are frolicking.

  • @craigathonian

      Yes our leather repair filler bends and flex’s the same rate as the leather. Most cheap low quality leather fillers are basically a thicker wood glue that does not bend and flex - and will simple crack open. Our leather repair products are REAL leather repair products. There are two types of leather repairs-ones that look great but don't last and ones that look terrible but last forever-you have to have a happy medium - one that looks good and that lasts .This repair will last years and it looks about 95% of new - as you can see at the end of the video. This is also a bycast leather repair which most leather technicians deem to be impossible to fix. We are primarily leather restoration specialists since 1898, we make and sell these products that can be applied by the consumer in their own home with great results that last.Thank you for your comment and for choosing www.LeatherTouchupDye.com

    • @Leathertouchupdye
      @Leathertouchupdye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it is possible in thin coats if you are very good with a heat gun. If you burn or bubble the filler the repair will be compromised. We recommend just letting it dry naturally as this gives the repair the best strength and flexibility. Repairs that are not cleaned well or no free from oils or work that is rushed will have a bearing on how long the repair lasts and ages.
