Wes I had a notion about regen farming and wondered what your thoughts are on the idea. I was hypothetically thinking if I had farm land and was going to convert to regenerative agriculture, would it maybe be advantageous to run deep tillage on everything one last time to break up compaction/hard pan and get the lime and what other deficiencies deeper into the ground, and then your cover crop roots could really go and and then sort of takeoff from there
I'd bet the owner of that baler failed to replace the teeth the VFS packs against when they got worn and it was slowly packing past them before it hit pressure and that led to an object causing a fatal obstruction.
we had corn and milo fields that made under 10 this year. problem is 9 bushels had to be cut, or you fight volunteer and insurance takes the 18 bushels they called it off your insurance check. this was the worst year we ever had farming
Parts are expensive I bought a fan belt for skid loader at messicks it was $98 dollars you can buy aftermarket for a third of the cost, don't know if they are as good as OEM
Have you ever considered calling another dealer in another part of the country to get price quotes on the same parts, and compare them to your local dealer? Are they more or less expensive? Same price?
I have a CASE 621 loader. I needed a control handle for the front bucket. The plastic handle,,,, it was over a thousand bucks. Nope, I fixed it with marine resin and some cloth.
To be honest I really don't know how farmers make it.....Using simple math I believe a farmer really has to love what they do because they ain't making no money at it for what everything costs.
it's really hard , around where i live a lot of farmers have lost the fight and retired , farm land is turning into homes real fast ,, this price thing isn't just the farmers problem either , it's industry wide , anyone with equipment ,parts are stupid expensive ,,but wait it can get worse
@wildcoyote34 It's the same here where I live too. Setting up housing developments and apartments everywhere. Problem is gonna be people are not gonna be able to afford these new houses and with some big businesses putting a hold on coming to the surrounding areas these builders are gonna have to set on them. Then the market will crash and the builders will be in a pickle. Yeah I agree it can get worse, I just hope things start tracking in the other direction.
We can thank Biden for effin farmers over at every corner. He flat out said farmers wouldn’t make a dime over these past 2 years and not because of unforeseen issues
I totally agree with you the whole farming thing is upside down! I’m seeing something in my area that’s not happened in many years farm ground at auction. This particular ground could easily go to housing development or other non-farming use. The whole in balance of the economy and the decline in country in general is the result of democrats and there policies. Trump has a very difficult situation facing him and a short time to fix this mess. Four years sounds like a long time but it’s not especially dealing with politician who fight you on every move.

The high cost of parts: "You know they paint that equipment green for a reason... and it's not your green." With as much farmland being converted (solar, subdivisions) the food capacity of the US is severely cut every year. That shortage will surprise the markets and prices will jump, but when? Until then, what products can you mess with that sell into a profitable niche vs "commodity corn/beans"? Commodities are seductive because you can sell huge volume fast, but the margins are so narrow you're always at risk. Rick Clark gives talks at a few events about his 5k acre farm because he figured out how to sell direct to food factories for nearly double commodity prices and with zero inputs th-cam.com/video/L7q2N-Jf-lk/w-d-xo.html It's super hard, but it's really only going back to the 1930s before industry convinced farmers to buy all the expensive inputs.
It's obvious how much work you put in!
Parts machine is allways good to have if you get it for the right price. Thanks for the entertainment Wes and your family. Have a good day.

Way it looks china not buying u s corn or wheat
they've started farming themselves. I assume they'll stop buying irish milk some time soon and that'll kill dairy here pretty quick
China set up huge farms in South America & with the US trade war rhetoric, China is focus on avoiding the US.
