    I think all depends on the specifications that you are looking for. The live online classes from Becker fits well to students that are out of school, that’s my case I feel the classes give more confidence in the process. On the other hand the price it’s also an important factor to consider.

    This is a toss up for me, but I am leaning towards the Becker Test Prep. Yes, cost is an issue and I don't want to spend more than I have to, but I think that the way they structure their videos as almost a 1v1 session by referencing directly to the text pages is good for me.
    It would be nice if Becker had the extensive pre-knowledge test like Surgent. No one wants to listen to the same content over and over - especially if you are doing it every day already.

    I prefer Becker because I feel that I would rather be over prepared than save time. Their simulations seem to be a good way to mimic the exam or be harder than the exam. It's a hard decision as a current college student, but I think I should take the time to be over prepared and not have to take parts of the exam again

    Question for anyone really, I’m trying to jump start my CPA prep and exam, have been out of school for almost 8 years now and have been in Healthcare Accounting my whole life, what’s the best strategy to get things going? I haven’t signed up for a test or a prep course just yet but like to get the CPA done by the end of the year

    • @TestPrepInsight
      @TestPrepInsight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Arun, our belief is that CPA prep is all about consistency. You just have to make it a part of your daily (or near daily) routine. Trying to cram in short spurts or find "hacks" just doesn't work for passing the CPA. Our advice would be to sign up for a CPA prep course, follow their suggested study schedule (personalized to your skills and availability), and stick with it. Whatever CPA prep company you go with, just make sure you stick to their schedule. Consistency is really key. It's a process building up to the exam.

    • @TestPrepInsight
      @TestPrepInsight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Arun haha, sorry Arun we just announced our July winner. In any event, if you're working 50+ hours per week, I'd plan on taking a little longer than a month per section. Obviously some sections are easier than others and take less time to study for (ex. BEC is easier than FAR), but on average, I'd plan on closer to 2 months of studying given your work load (maybe 6-8 weeks). That assumes you can only commit a few hours per week to studying - could be less if you can sneak in more study hours on nights and weekends. Also, weird the link isn't working. That Becker course should currently be $1,000 off. Try getting there through the link on our website: testprepinsight.com/reviews/becker-cpa-review/

    I have Surgent and honestly I'm not feeling it. The books are very detailed but very confusing. Surgent is all about the repetitiveness of test taking so if that's for you it's a great option. I started a 14 day trial with Becker and I'm already loving it more, so I'm trying to save my money to purchase Becker and I might as well use both once I purchase it. Right off the back I can say that Becker's videos are better than Surgent's because Surgent's videos are just plain boring and although Surgent is not made to watch videos it's lacking in that department when you need it the most for just learning overall. Becker's actually follows their books and guides you with videos through each page, each question and each simulation along with video walk throughs. Surgent doesn't have that which is fine but its just lacking in the learning department for me like for example, what's a better way to do an accounting problem? or where do I follow along in the book? etc. Surgent only gives a written explanation when you get a problem wrong. This is not to say Surgent is bad I'm just saying from my experience, I feel I need to supplement it with something else. I'm really trying to love Surgent because I feel they truly have a nice platform but it's just missing some things here and there such as the human element that I feel Becker provides. I think I'll use Becker for the learning aspect and human element and Surgent for the testing aspect and their AI element. Heck I guess I can't go wrong having both the AI adapt and the Adapt2U. It will be pretty bad having these two platforms and still fail the CPA exam I'll update this post in a year and let you know how it goes lol.

    • @TestPrepInsight

      Thanks for sharing! A lot of the problems it sounds like that you have with Surgent are the same ones we hear time and time again. Glad to hear you're liking Becker so far.
