I do not have any personal experience with either of the mounts you listed but I see they are much more complicated to install and uninstall, the bassett mount is very affordable and super easy to install and uninstall and reinstall all while retaining "zero" because you will use the exact same method (22 in/lb.) of install each and every time I am sure the Smith and Sadlak mount are very high quality but the method if installing those mounts are far more complicated
Got to say, I like it. Still using the 3rd Gen mount on mine and, while it has never loosened up, my biggest gripe with the 3rd Gen is the removal/replacement of the stripper guide. I had the part machined so if I removed the scope, I had the same full function to load using it. Been looking for an alternative so I can place the original guide back.
The mount performed flawlessly at the range, The price and ease of install/uninstall and while retaining "zero" reinstall is what sold me, and the price was far below most of the other quality M1A mounts out there, I use a cheap Leapers brand scope and so far it has also performed well.
This mount came highly recommended on M14.com. I ordered the Bassett high picatinny mount so I could retain the use of the iron sights without having to remove the scope and mount once installed.
Thank you for the video. I was a bit hesitant about this mount because it looks too good to be true...but I've read nothing but great reviews on it. Now to choose Hi or Lo and Picatinny of regular. I'm definitely getting one ...:)
I bought the springfield mount & once I got a real scoop, some Loctite & heavy duty rings from Les Baer. I've been pushing out to 800yds all day with some really good ammo.
Thanks for the information... Bassett looks like the way to go, so I'm getting one. I especially like the idea of something that installs/uninstalls easily, so I can iron sights when I want and reattach the scope without complete loss of zero.
Also the wrench is the grease press for bolt rollers . I have the mount for my rifle its so sweet .Zero sine new maybe like you said was windage. Thanks and Thanks to Basset Machine.
Looks great.. torque wrench would come in handy here..I wonder after how many shots it has to be retighten. Please upload a video with the mount and scope shooting at the range.
Nice tip on providing the proper torque for the mounting screw. If you don't plan on removing the mount I would recommend some blue Loc Tite. Nice rifle,Wish I had one. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, I picked it up brand new at a local gun show here in North West Indina, Over the past few gun shows Ive seen a few there, So check on google for gun show lists in your area and that should help you find one, But be ready to drop 1,500-1,900 into a new one depending on what model you choose
Have you done any more testing on how well it keeps it zero after mount/unmount? If you don't apply the torque force in the way you descrdibed, this thing will basically last forever? Thank you for the video
UltraXryder, thanks for the video on the Bassett. How did your day at the range work out after installing the scope? Would you mind telling your readers what scope you have on the rifle? I am thinking of getting a Bassett mount for my Leupold 3.5-10x40 LRT with IR.
How many rounds have you shot through that since you have mounted the scope. Not being a jerk, but without any more torque than that, or some type of loctite that mount WILL shoot loose.
"No bouncing" he says, as he bounces it a dozen times. Anschutz has a similar design self-torque tool in hex wrench. Hold it at one finger-groove it applies a certain torque; use the other groove for a different torque. But if you raise the gun up and down by the wrench it increases torque. Even without a big bounce anything other than just letting the weight apply without motion gives too much torque. First make sure there is no dirt or fuzzed threads to increase friction. Next, if the application requires it, add blue threadlocker. Then apply the tool and let the weight of the rifle apply the torque. No bouncy, no swingy, no upsy-downsy - just hold the wrench and let the weight apply the torque with no additional movement; do it one time only. Avoid the temptation to add more torque or bounce the weight.
Thanks for the nice and informative video. However, seems like the scope cannot really be adjust forward or backward that much because of the location of the rings. Has this given you problems with proper eye relief? Thanks in advance!
How does the mount hold up while firing, does it loosen up at all during firing? I've heard of some mounts, not basset I don't think, becoming loose after a just few mags.
@@UltraXryder well I have used the Springfield 4th Gen mount and don’t feel like spending another $200 to get a mount that may or may not work, do the threads back out like on the Springfield mount
@TheQuino19 I am sorry it took so long to get you a reply, but I have only removed and reinstalled the mount once at the range and it was about dead on, and I attribute that to the installation procedure of applying 22in/lb every time
Please do let me know how your ACOG seats on there! I never thought about putting any optic on the bassett mount that does not require scope rings, that is unless you ordered Bassett's Picatinny Rail mount, then I am sure your ACOG would fit nicely
ya I know it was just somthing to get started with just get te feel of scope shooting just to pratice with but it has actually preformed pretty well for me... but if I really get into it I'll deff get me a nice scope for sure
Hello, can you please tell me how does a Basset mount compare to a Smith Enterprise or a Sadlak mount? Would you choose any of these over the other and why, which do you think is better for the money? Thanks in advance.
Is the mt tight against the stock or is there space between them is it the same with wood or glass stock My NIB SA gen 3 mt the rear bolt hole doesnt line up with threaded hole $$$ in the crapper. ..
I have the Sadlak mount which is a whole lot more involved but its a tank of a mount. I have never seen or used the Basset mount so I cannot give my opinion but I will say this much, Im very skeptical just by looking at the video but guys seem to like them so maybe they are really good. Ive seen more good comments than bad ones.
The mount is great and yes I can still use my irons, its very heavy duty and really does look right at home on the rifle. Two things I found out though. I did not have to remove the action from the stock to install and when adjusting the cam mount for clearance against the stripper clip guide mount I didn't have to hammer it like the you tube video shows, these are both good things. I have a Nightforce ATACR 4-16X42 on it and the whole setup up looks really sweet. Since I made this posting I had an opportunity to see another mount on one in a store. Im not sure of the brand but there was no comparison. If you give me your email I will send you a couple pics if you want....
@axnordberg I have taken it to the range 3 times and removed and reinstalled it all 3 times and it was right on every time! so its 3 for 3 on my tests as long as you follow the installations directions and apply it with only 22 in. lb. tq it will retain zero
@mostrom100 I couldn't tell you as I have absolutely no experience with airsoft, But it seems like the airsoft manufacturers try to clone the real guns as close as possible so if that cyma m14 has a metal receiver and has the same milling and machining on the side then if may work
@UltraXryder No worries, most youtubers never bother to reply at all! I've been in the market for a scope mount for a while, and I recently found a good deal on a side and rear-mounted picatinny rail (requires removal of the stripper clip guide as well), so I may go with that.
I shot about 90 rounds with out a problem I then removed the scope just to do some non-scope shooting and later reinstalled the scope and shot nearly 200 rounds +/- 20 and never had a problem check their site out they say on their site "this one wont shoot lose"
A torque wrench is not necessary, The tool it comes with when used correctly will ALWAYS apply 22 in-lbs I hope to be going to the range very soon, Hope to get a vid then
Ive used a few different mounts, and this is a billion times better than anything else. it such a simple design.

UltraXryder would this mount work on a Mini14?
This mount came highly recommended on M14.com. I ordered the Bassett high picatinny mount so I could retain the use of the iron sights without having to remove the scope and mount once installed.
Did you like it? Was the height over bore too much, or no?

This looks so much easier than trying to install than the Springfield mounts.

Nicely done Ultraman.
I like the side mounts, they remind me of the side mounting system for the Draganov/Tiger sighting system.
I like this mounting system. I like it a lot. I think this will make me a nice birthday present next month.
Nice tip on providing the proper torque for the mounting screw. If you don't plan on removing the mount I would recommend some blue Loc Tite. Nice rifle,Wish I had one. Thanks for the video.
Can you get a good cheek weld with the low scope mount
That is. 👌. Very easy, no muss, no fuss. Question for you. Hows stability of the scope when shooting? Any issues? Like the mount loses?
@CDNHottie69 The CASM mount is far to complicated to mount, and does not allow you to remove it and reinstall it while retaining zero

Good demo!!
It has held up very well, I have no complaints
I have the mount but lost track of the Bassett wrench where can they be had?
What socket should I use if I wanted to use a torque wrench
Yes iron sights are visible with out a problem

Is this Bassett mount the standard high mount or the low mount version? Thanks for the post. Seeing this is helping me in my decision.

Can I just use a torque wrench set to 22 inch pounds to tighten the bolt?
@@TexasNationalist1836 of course you can, but that that’s away from the whole design
@@UltraXryder well I have used the Springfield 4th Gen mount and don’t feel like spending another $200 to get a mount that may or may not work, do the threads back out like on the Springfield mount

love the scope :) i have the same exact one. for the price, you just cant get any better

Where did you get the mount?
www.bassettmachine.com/prod_smhi.htm
Thanks if I make another video Ill experiment with the blue cloth idea....and this is the standard version

check their site out they say on their site "this one wont shoot lose"
It sounds stupid but do all M14's have that Area on the side of the receiver to mount a scope? God this sounds stupid because i am a big gun fanatic!
Yep they are deff still in business, if you order one you won't regret it trust me!
bassettmachine. com is their site
Are those waffles?
@tokorev747777 Not a stupid question at all and Yes, all M1A ,M14, M21 rifles will have the same holes and groves machined into them
