I drive part time for a large school district in Florida (they have about 300 buses). The buses are assigned by seniority but since I am a sub I drive what ever bus I am filling in for, everything from a 2005 Bluebird pusher to 2019 C2’s, just like this one. When I get in a new C2 it’s like I won the lottery for the day, so quite and comfortable and a great working A/C!
I took my CDL road test in a 2019 C2. The ref points were a bit different, but once I figured those out, it turned out smoothly. My route rig will be a 2016 EFX.
I’ve already trained a couple of days in two different ones. Our special needs EFX might have taken a little more learning than the others, with it being a lower-profile rig.
I received a 2019 Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 at the beginning of this school year and I absolutely love it! I miss my other buses I used to have... but my New 2019 Thomas C2 is a really great and reliable Bus.
What a beautiful bus. I love the Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus. Very clean engine. The C2's are my favorite school buses. People do think they are just school buses. But I know there's a lot more to it than that. I love the Saf-T-Liner C2. It sounds like our C2's in Florida. I don't know why the cross-view mirrors on this bus are not a full circle like they usually are.
@@SwannBus No problem buddy. Yeah I don't know why your C2's in your area have those kind of mirrors. Our C2's have the full round mirrors. I really like the IC CE buses. They are really cool buses but I am more of a Saf-T-Liner C2 kind of person.

Adam, I know it’s been a year but just to ask, do you think that you’ll do another bus video by starting the bus and then driving it like this video? I just enjoy these types of your videos 🙂
Last school bus I rode in was a 2000 Bluebird diesel pusher back when I was in high school. I had a really awesome bus driver too, she was very friendly and quickly learned who I was. First school bus I was ever in was some really ancient 1970s International that should have been retired long before I started riding to school in it. The speedometer didn't show accurate speed until the bus hit 40mph 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This was back in 1995, and my bus driver at the time (I lived in North Myrtle Beach SC) was the first driver to get a brand new 1996 Thomas diesel pusher (sorry, I can't exactly remember the model). It was like going from a Pinto to a Cadillac 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Air brakes, air ride suspension, driver air seat, air operated door. I'm now a truck driver and I see lots of school busses as I drive around the country. Good videos.
Nice bus Adam! I grew up riding blue birds, flat nose diesel pusher, the first one was like an 85 or 86 it was a standard shift lol then of course the newer they got they were auto shift. The school district served many towns, the further from the school you lived you might have to board the big bus as we called it, and transfer to the mini bird half way through. That was a daily thing for me living in the country, our bus driver lived in the town and took her bus home, drove the mini bird for years, that's what picked us up in th A.M and we would transfer to the big bus just outside of town and it would take us the rest if the way to school, vice versa in the P.M I've always like blue birds but since I found your videos Thomas is growing on me! At some point I intend to buy a flat nose diesel pusher to convert to a motor home. You should check out the blue bird escolar, its a beauty. Even has dual doors, with the second being behind the cock pit.
At least you have ridden "noseless" schoolbuses (transits); I have only rode one (MVP-ER in 1977) - and that was a charter trip. The transits didn't begin showing up locally with any volume until after my graduation (outside of Maryland); those were MVPs of both the EF and ER sorts. (Thomas also made the Vista, which was basically a cross between a C and the MVP-EF; only one contractor in Charles County bought any of them.) I have more mileage on "short buses" than transits (as a student); such is the state of "poli-tricks" - both then and now in CCBoE; transits are being forced out again.
Man does that engine brake sound beautiful! I was starting to wonder about it till you flicked it on half way through! The ISB engine brake is pretty aggressive, saves a ton on brake wear though. It took me some getting used to as well, because you can't really coast into your braking you have to accelerate up until you brake. Love the bus and looking forward to more videos!
Romello Hawkins that’s a loaded question but I’ll try to answer. RPMs are based on engine load, rear axle ratio and transmission gearing. School buses are mostly geared low and have very similar engine characteristics. However, class 8 trucks are down sped further and generally run at lower RPMs then school buses.
I really like this bus you're videoing now and the IC CE one too, and I'm thinking about just being a trip driver is there a way that I can just apply for that position?
Hey Adam I was just wondering do you think the transit liner c2 sounds just like a normal c2 or does it sound the different I know you go to a lot of bus shows I was hoping you came across one
My district is pretty even. We buy Thomas buses, then IC the next year then bluebird the next, then repeat. Usually buy 5-7 buses each year. Right now its like 40% c2, 30% CE, 30% vision
Lol our school district has only ever had IC buses. We’ve never had many issues with them, so we’ve never bothered to venture to other manufacturers. Only real issue we’ve has is in 2016 when our district couldn’t order ones with the MaxxForce engines anymore, we had to get Cummins and our drivers didn’t know the new engines required DEF and would run the system dry. Not to mention our techs at the garage had to go get training on Cummins engines to be able to work on them and fix them. So more or less when the 2016’s went into service August of that year, they ran about a month before being left parked until January of the next year while the techs were “back to college” per say. Once they got the hang of it we’ve not had any issues as far as I know, since I graduated in 2018 I haven’t really talked to any of the bus drivers so couldn’t tell ya if things are still rolling smooth lol.
There is a reason why 2/3 of school children ride on IC buses everyday to get to and from school. They make a good bus, in the past not so much, but they really turned it around by making the cummins engine an option instead of the maxxofrce 7, which was plagued with problems. I don't think Navistar makes the maxxofrce engines anymore.
Keaton0801 From what I understand, when PACCAR took control of Navistar, the PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 took the MaxxForce’s place. The few years before that happened, Navistar cut production of all MaxxForce engines due to EPA restrictions and Cummins took the place in all their applications. They did continue to produce the MF 11 and 13 liter engines they ran in the Prostar alongside offering Cummins engines. But now I believe the MaxxForce line is now defunct, unless the revive it to give the 8.8L CNG engine that’s in the works a name. All of the buses in our school district are Internationals, i think over 60 CE300’s, a few FE300’s from 2006 and like 15 CE200’s which were on the short frame with a handicap ramp. From 2005-15, they (the 300’s designated for inline-6 engines; 200’s designates for V-platform engines) all ran MaxxForce DT466’s which brings back memories of the 09 I rode when I was in high school (still miss the sound of that DT466 tbh). The handful of CE200’s from 05-15 all ran the MaxForce 7 which ford used as the now defunct 6.4 PowerStroke back when Navistar and Ford were in a partnership. All pre 2005 buses we had ran the T444E which Ford rebranded as the now defunct 7.3 PowerStroke. From 2016-19, they all run the Cummins ISB6.7. What sucks is I graduated in 2018. We order anywhere from 3-5 buses each year from Navistar and like all the other years, we get that model year in May (meaning when we order the 2020’s, we get them this May), which gives the buses a month of break-in time before they sit for the summer. So here I am, the last month of school before I graduate, we get some 2018’s, then I graduate and over the summer I run into my driver at her second job and find out the 09 she drove since receiving it in 09 is being swapped out for one of the 2018’s, leaving the 09 to sit as a sub bus or be put on a different route. Never got to ride in a Cummins powered IC Bus, but if I failed my senior year like I wanted (don’t ask why lol), I would’ve gotten to and not have even known it. The Cummins is better, but by god hearing the DT466 scream away off the line sends chills down my spine, I was one of the few that always looked forward to riding the bus to or from school. Hell it sure saved miles on my Jeep my senior year by riding the bus 😂
Is this your personal bus? If so, how much does it cost to take care of? I plan on buying an identical C2 from my district when it’s retired because it was once my bus.
I was talking to some people and there is an interesting tidbit on the shakes and rattles. Thomas had always blamed it on the driveline instead of fixing it. One of the C-Level Executives drove the new Jouley electric bus and heard all the shakes and rattles first hand. The engineers couldn’t explain it away because there was no drivetrain to blame it on. It is an “ongoing work in progress” to fix that now.
Nicholas J The older Visions rattled a lot. It was the windows, they weren’t built well. The new Blue Bird windows are wayyyy most solid. No rattles on the newer Visions!

Adam D that's good! Whenever you get a chance, I want to see the new IC CE with the gas floored. It seems like it had a lot of pull with you just being easy on the gas
Adam D oh no problem I was just wondering if you had completed one of my dreams or not. But still cool that you get to choose what bus and what features it has.
I don't know what it is about the flat dash, the slanted walls and the huge ugly windshield but I think they are really ugly!!! Blue Bird visions and ce200s are the way to go
Yeah they do ride nice though that is true I used to ride a 2010 CE with the maxxforce 7 hydrolic brakes Allison 2500 pts, then I went to middle school this year and rode a 2006 IC ce200 with a vt356 ford powerstroke air brakes Allison 2500 pts they switched my bus driver to a c2 because of a certain amount of miles - it is a 2011 c2 Cummins 6.7, air brakes, door ext. Diesel Maniac One of them got replaced last year bus 17 then the other two I think like 4 years ago bus 11 and bus 36 which 36 was mine now we are 41 on a 2014 Tomas c2
Wait wait... how do you get the money to buy two brand new school buses??!
He saves and pockets his money?
15 years of planning and Jesus!!!
@@SwannBus how much does a new c2 cost typically?
Around $110k depending on how it’s spec’d
@AdamD Do you own your own compnay or do you drive for someonne and if you do own your own compnay do you keep the buses at your house or at a bus depot?

Great video nice driving.!!
Excuse me sir one little question I am looking to buy buses in the future even tho I'm 11 but is there any good places or any good sites I could go to that can help me find what I'm looking for
Sharky TheAnimator11 love that you’re interested in school buses. If you’re looking for vehicles for sale, EBay.com is a good resource and so is google for finding buses in your area. Good luck and thanks for watching my videos.
Prolegion Gaming I might be buying a bluebird 3800 I’m 16 I’ll be 17 next year
I hope we get are C2 back this year and not stuck on a spare witch are bluebirds

How much ram does it have and what gpu?
It’s a school bus, not a computer.
You should remake this video. Without having the window open.
Bryan Taylor it was 90 degrees the day I made this video. I had the window open because if the AC was on you’d only hear fan noise. Sorry for the wind noises on this video.....I’ll get around to an update on this bus.
How do you like it?
Have you decided which one will be your route bus?
Robert McGee both of these will be on a daily route. When they do trips, I’ll put one of the old ones on the route. Everyone wants A/C these days....
Adam D that's good! Whenever you get a chance, I want to see the new IC CE with the gas floored. It seems like it had a lot of pull with you just being easy on the gas
Robert McGee will do, I was barely on the throttle.
Adam D thanks, its crazy how a little tuning can make such a difference
U really are a good Driver

C2s are the most modern looking; Visions are the most classic looking
I wish you were my bus driver
What engine does this have
T.F.D 1982 legendary Cummins, okay that was too much. It has a Cummins ISB 260HP/660TQ.
Adam D nice I thought it sounded like one it’s the 6.7 right i guess it’s got the same as the 2020 IC bus I saw a video of you did
T.F.D 1982 yes, that’s correct. Thanks for watching!
The 5.9 is legendary
7:16 he took a good turn and looked both ways. Nice driving skills. Do you drive a school route? 9:07 you took an awesome 👌 turn. 👍 👏 👏
I'll b driving next month
Damion Rowe awesome, be sure to let us know what you’re driving!

@@SwannBusI'm driving the same bus
What bus do you like better IC or Thomas???
IC for me
Ic and bluebird
Any updates on this bus
Are driving school buses as fun as it looks?
Awesome!
two hands on the wheel at all times!
The c2 is a bluebird vision on steroids
mr yeetyman The new bluebird vision has a top speed of 140mph!!
And the IC CE
Carlton Powell first off the speedo shows that, and second, they are originally KM/H gauges so in MPH that would translate to about 85 mph :)
@@carltonpowell6282lol
bus goes nyoom extended
Speed limit was 50 and you went over.. you in a rush.
Do you have the orange rims aluminum rims or black steelies
Ezra begin they are Accuride Extra Polished aluminum.
Nice riding in style
Thomas and IC have better front visibility as there is no split windshield
Did you buy it or just renting it out
charlie Brown I own this bus.....
I'm a trainer, your hand position is driving me crazy...lol
warptman exactly lol
i will be relaxing if you wear headphones.
So do you drive for a school or own your own company that is contracted to a school?
Bryce Culwell thanks for asking, I own a company that contracts with the county.
Adam D oh no problem I was just wondering if you had completed one of my dreams or not. But still cool that you get to choose what bus and what features it has.
Just curious if you dont mind ball park range of how much both the ic and thomas cost each?
Bryce Culwell the MSRP on the Thomas was $226k and the IC CE was $229.
Adam D holly cow thanks for the info really appreciate you responding. Hopefully one day I will be able to drive an ic and a thomas.
Good ol st Mary's county in Maryland
KTZ OUTLAW you know it!
@@SwannBus haha 😂😂
Guess school district Im at
I don't know what it is about the flat dash, the slanted walls and the huge ugly windshield but I think they are really ugly!!! Blue Bird visions and ce200s are the way to go
lucas vlogs 2007 to each their own, thanks for watching!
My cousin also rides a 2016 Blue Bird vision propane
lucas vlogs 2007 I agree, I’m a Blue Bird guy for life, but I don’t mind Thomases or ICs, they’re nice too
Do you need a Cdl to drive one
A yes, in most states you need a Class B CDL with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsements. Thanks for watching!
Blue Brothers o ok is a cdl hard to get
Blue Brothers ok how do you get a CDL
Blue Brothers o ok I don’t know if I can drive that big of a bus
I. DROVE A AN ICE THOMAS C2 buses that I droved
I wish it was a dd5
I own both engines and they’re both very good. The Cummins has a ton of low end and the DD5 likes to rev out. Both have been very reliable so far.
@@SwannBus can you make a video on the DD5
