I spent alot of time up in that park as a kid growing up. my father was born and raised in the town of Flintstone, MD. My father passed away a few years ago. I have alot of fond memories camping up there. I still go up about 3 or 4 times a year

Tator, pour a cup of hot water on the side of the tank! It will show you where the propane is at on the tank with the hot water condensation & cold propane. Old school! I also do this to check my outside grill and house tank at home! Safe travels. Glad you are on the road again! 😊

It's heartwarming to hear that you visited Maryland and explored the beautiful areas. The diverse landscapes offer so much to cherish, from kayaking to hiking. I understand that the summers can be quite challenging with the hot and humid weather, especially when unexpected drops in temperature occur. Your adventures and your resourcefulness never fail to inspire. The idea of using a ski as a wind controller is truly fascinating.
It's touching to hear about the honesty system still being practiced in some areas, particularly in the farm stands where you can choose your produce and leave a contribution. The generosity of the farmers and the sense of community in these interactions is truly heartening. I love creating resin coasters with local flowers and messages is a beautiful way for me to express gratitude.
As you continue your journey, please know that many of us are with you in spirit, cheering you on.

Slim, I will never give you a hard time about carrying a hair dryer with you for exactly the reason you are using it now. Heat guns are just too hot for many applications but a 1500 watt hair dryer is just right most of the time. Keep the good stuff coming.

As you roam Southward you might research and consider...1: the Shenandoah Valley/Skyline Drive area in Virginia and also the huge national forest areas nearby that include campground and also dispersed camping. 2: The Outer Banks of North Carolina to include Nags Head/Ocracoke Island. Safe and fun travels!

@@timbering4744 Just a heads up that Skyline Drive is very twisty and up and down. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a much more relaxed drive and you can pay more attention to the scenery. I've done Skyline Drive once and the Blue Ridge twice on a motorcycle and I much prefer the Blue Ridge.

That state forest is now on my to do list. I was at Savage State Forest which is about an hour away. Real nice with small streams and a reservoir. A possible downside for some is that we had to drive about 20 minutes to get a cell signal.

My husband has been going to Green Ridge State park for over 50 years and we family camped there since our children were little. There are roads there that the rangers don’t know that my husband found. New Orleans campground; there used to be horseback riding. Fishing, hunting, swimming, finding all the lookouts for unbelievable photos. The history of the hotel on Tower Rd., Paw Paw Tunnel. Visit the Ranger Station and walk out on the lookout. Watch out for bears! Learn the history of the canal boats before the cargo trains, the history of the Apple orchards. So much to see and learn, just ask me!

You probably know this, but it may be worth saying. Propane tanks can be refilled at most Tractor Supply Stores in the US. Much better than tank swaps and will fill the full 20lbs. Cost from empty about $18US. There was a TSC about 30 min. to the east of you campsite.

I am on a primitive campsite right now, as you call it, I part-time car camp around work, have everything to maintain my self fully as if I was at home. Where I am paid £11 a night to sit by a river. Hidden gem. My last 4 camps last month were really rough conditions but still made the most of it. I Love nature and being able to choose my own destiny with my free time. The Weather has been fab for a change. 🇬🇧 part-time female solo camper.
Agreed always something to do with your base.

I live in Maryland and I found this video very interesting. Because of your video, I am adding it to my camping season trips. As you noticed, we have very few opportunities for free boondocking in Maryland. Although there is a flat $10 fee, it is still way less expensive than a state park or a commercial campground. When I need access to a shower or a laundry, I go to those campgrounds.

I love Green Ridge State Forest, but it has grown in popularity in the last 3-4 years. We used to go from 2013-2019 on a Friday after work and would have plenty of sites to pick from. The past few summers, you are hard pressed to not be forced to camp in an overflow site. I think the draw to outdoor activity during Covid brought more people out. Or, more people learn about this special place. Glad to see it in such a great Vlog!

Hi Slim. There is a much easier way to check the level of propane in your tank. I use the Mopeka Tank sensor. It is a sensor that sticks to the bottom of your tank by a magnet. It connects to your cellphone by Bluetooth. It will display the tank level in inches or percentages and will work on any size tank. The cost in the U.S. was only $35.00. The battery is easy to replace and will generally last about a year. If you purchase one, be sure to get the rubber ring tank bottom spacer with it. That way you won't crush the sensor on those bumpy roads. Check it out online. I think you will like it better than having to disconnect your tank and lift it out of the straps.
    Don

Your door... Our door in our brand new Outback has been out of whack since Day 1... and I am finally heading back to Calgary (1400km) in about 10 days to get them to fix it... they think it might need some fiberglass work because there is very little hinge adjustments 🥲 so I am curious to what you will do??? peanut butter and banana is my go too lunch too... for a change of pace... try peanut butter and cucumber 🙂 and I ALWAYS anxiously await the CTC (Canadian Tire Corporation) Weekly Flyer... I remember buying stuff from them as a kid in the early 60's in Dartmouth, N.S. we bought 2 frying pans (large & medium) from them recently too 🙂 and they do clean up quick and easy 🙂 no mess no fuss.... I've stayed there several times. Some nice hiking trails. I think that's a beer can holder. The flowers and blooms were early this year. You are right next to the C&O Canal. Put that on your list. Great video thanks for sharing.

Slim I hope your fix works. Where the weather stripping meets I hope you filled the gap with silicone. Stay safe.
