    Lexus RX is a lage (by European standards) SUV. In Europe RX is available as 200t with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, or RX 450h, which is a 3.5-litre V6 hybrid. In some markets the car also comes as a V6 without the hybrid drivetrain, and is then called RX 350. I think RX 450h is the one to go for. Although Lexus styling may be cutting edge, dynamics are more conservative. Lexus RX 450h is a comfortable, and relatively efficient SUV, which you can occasionally take off tarmac. Careful about the pricing though. RX starts at around 50 thousand euro, but this RX 450h with options is up around 80,000 euro mark.

    Best designed car on the market. Very futuristic and is outside the box. All other cars in this category looks similar. Lexus IS lexus

    The looks may divide opinion, but I think it's drop dead gorgeous, inside and out. The X5 also has the squared wheel arches, so it must be the current trend. I love the giant, aggressive grill. The interior quality blows the German brands out of the water....something I never thought I'd say about a Japanese car. If I had that money to spend on a car, I'd like to know I'm buying something reliable, unlike an X5

    This thing is exempt from the London Congestion charge and the up coming ULEZ- ultra low emission zone, don't think the BMW X5 or Mercedes are unless they run on Petrol.... lexus wins here.

    Lexus designers need a slap, the infotainment is a mess .... but unlike my friends £70k+ BMW X5, i suspect the Lexus infotainment system will still work in a few years time, and the car will still work. BMW X5 absolute garbage!!!

    X5 is a better car, but you will pay for it two times. Once when bought and once more in the following 3-4 years when EVERYTHING will break

    You ain't got a clue mate in knocks the bollocks of German cars I know I vehad 5 the inside of lexus is smashing it looks better than German SUV it's cheaper and it's also the biggest selling luxury SUV in American no SUV can match it's safe Ty feature s and reliability the car is smooth and comfortable and pull away from the lights it fly's so if anybody thinking of getting one you have made a good choice I think I'm more knowledgeable than that bloke who had it for a couple of hours

    453l boot? Y YOU NO 450l???

  • @rmpumper
    @rmpumper 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, I have a question about the boot sizes. How is the space measured exactly? From the floor to parcel shelf, o from the floor to the roof?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's measured from floor to parcel shelf for regular boot size, and entire cargo space floor to roof, with seats down. So you can get 300 litres regular boot, but then something like 1200 litres with seats folded.
      The figures are usually VDA (German automobile industry association). A VDA figure is determined by
      filling the loadspace with litre blocks, each measuring 200x100x50 mm. The blocks are then counted, and the numerical result is converted into cubic metres.

    • @rmpumper
      @rmpumper 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Always seemed strange to see something like a Golf estate listed with a bigger boot than a Volvo V70.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      V70 has 575 litres. It could have been bigger, if it wasn't for the AWD system and spare tire. The loading area is long but rather flat. Golf Variant at 605 litres has a lot of space under the floor as well. AFAIR no spare as standard.

    It seems the sat navigation graphics you guys get in Europe is so different from what is available in North America. Lexus need to address their strategy in Europe if not they won't be able to compete against the Germans and other European brands.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is weird, because in Europe Lexus gets something, which resembles very old Toyota sat nav. You'd expect it to have all the new stuff first, which would later appear in Toyota.

    • @samsonokoro5036
      @samsonokoro5036 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shocking to see their approach in Europe, I guess they don't see the European market as a major prospect for them which is just odd. They can even be bigger with a lot more sales in Europe, they need to address it. But the Sat navigation I saw on the Rx tested by Carwow had the new graphics available in the US market. I don't know why you guys have this in Poland though.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've looked at Carwow review.
      Lexus currently has three different sat navs (probably depending on model year and trim level). I've seen the one Matt has there in one of other Lexus cars I tested (NX or RC). I'm sorry, but it's still miles behind anything you get these days on a decent European car.

    • @samsonokoro5036
      @samsonokoro5036 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marek Drives the ones in the US isn't miles away what the Europeans have in their cars. I have seen extensive reviews of all them, graphics and UI. Where most complain a bit is cause of the mouse like control saying it's difficult to use while driving etc. In terms of graphics and what is able to do is its on par with most apart from the new Audi and Jag in my opinion. You should check out what's on the new Lc 500 and that will be on the new Ls 500 that's beyond awesome.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So now the question is, what kind of infotainment systems US-spec Audi gets? Because Jag is... better, than Lexus, but that's about it.

    Hi Marek,
    Thanks for this and all your spot on reviews in general.
    With respect to Lexus RX, I have a question: many reputable magazines and reviewers states the cabin is very hushed at any speed, you instead mention Merc GLE 350d is more refined at motorway speeds.
    Is that it is hushed but there's better options in the segment? May you please clarify? And what about the roar soaring at full throttle?
    Moreover, you do not blame the handling and looks 2 me u embed remarks on a "boaty" handling from other sources in within the considerations on what an SUV is compared to other cars categories - correct?
    Thanks.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mercedes may have been equipped with acoustic windows (windscreen and front side windows), so at motorway speeds less wind noise gets into the cabin. I do not understand the second question.

    • @rocketdreamer
      @rocketdreamer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I restate - how do you rate handling, comfort and the balance between the two? Thanks.
