    I am just getting started on how to do beads and your video is awesome. Some go to fast or skip a step or two and a person gets lost, but you took your time. You make a great teacher. Thanks so much. After I finally master this process I want to add on and do more fancy work. I am also making my own cabachons with Mod Podge which works just like Glossy Accents and it is a lot cheaper, so maybe that little tid bit will help others. Please don't stop teaching and have a great day!!

    Hi! Yes, it is always helpful to conditioner your thread. In complete honesty, I don't do it every time, but it is a good idea to do it.

    We do not have a video on creating more rings of beads around the cabochon but you would just use the exact same process as what was done in this video - just pretend that the last row of beads was your cabochon and work your way around it in the same fashion.

    Hi Julie.....what thread do you suggest we use??? This is my first time beading around a cabochon and I want to make sure I get everything right!!!! Also....will I learn to get the spacing right??? I get the spacing right going down with the beads but coming up on the backstitch I have to keep poking thru the backing!!!

      Hi! For bead embroidery I really like Nymo thread and I use as small of a needle as possible, usually a size 13. I just find that it is easier to poke through the foundation with a super thin needle but size 12 works too. Yes, you absolutely will get the spacing right with more practice. There will always be a little poking around here and there, but it will get a lot easier and you will develop a "sense" for it. Best of luck and have fun!

    Hi Julie, do we have to condition the thread?

  • @brownyes6211
    @brownyes6211 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been using Nymo size D Thread.And a size 10 needle. For other types of bead work. In the video I didn't hear you say what size thread, you were using.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's Nymo size D. We use a ton of Nymo.

    can you use any fabric? will this work on garbadine? I want to bead embroider a design on a dance shawl.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Just Call Me Lady Byrd It really depends on the weave of the fabric and if it will hold the beads. Backstitching in bead embroidery is really just a form of sewing so take into consideration the weight and weave of the fabric compared to the weight of the beads. For instance, I doubt that a delicate silk would hold the beads without causing snagging or perhaps even tearing however your gabardine might work because of its tight weave and heavier weight. I would suggest doing a little test swatch before beginning your project.

    When i choose between beyote or backstitch around my stone?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You usually want to do some sort of backstitch around the stone and can choose if you also want to add some peyote

    Wouldn’t this be easier: To find where to put the point of your needle, why not actually roll the beads down the thread on to the cabochon? Then you wouldn’t have to do any kind of guesstimate where to place the point of your needle. You would be able to see exactly where it Has to go because the beads are there to guide you.
