CommTank installed one 10,000-gallon Aboveground Storage Tank (AST), piping, and fuel dispensers for Horizon Beverage in Norton, MA. This video summarizes the project and the steps required to complete it.
CommTank crews started the project by using a concrete saw to cut the existing parking lot and excavated two holes that were deep enough to build footings for the canopy pedestals. Frames were built using rebar to provide structural support for the new concrete and to provide anchor points for the new canopy.
The new aboveground storage tank required additional concrete to support the tanks weight so a frame was built for a 6-inch thick tank pad. After the concrete was poured for the pad, bollards were installed around it and filled with concrete. Bollards provide protection from accidental vehicle damage. The canopy was then built on site and a boom truck was used to install the support and panels. Once completed the new aboveground storage tank was brought on site and set on the new tank pad. The tank is a double-walled Flameshield made by Stanwade.
Crews installed the submersible pumps and level sensors before connecting any pipes. The sumps were installed next so that the Wayne Select Series dispensers could be installed. With dispensers in place the piping was connected to the submersible pumps. The footings were backfilled and reinforced along with the dispenser sumps. Concrete could then be poured into the footings and sumps and smoothed with a brush finish. The last item was the TopKat fuel management system. It was mounted between the dispensers and connected to the offices at Horizon Beverage.
The aboveground storage tank, piping, and fuel dispensers were tested and met the manufacturer’ operating specification and plans at the project complete

That's an unusual canopy configuration. It must cover just the truck cabs and dispensers.

Why is cement poured in the bottom of a gas dispenser?

The concrete forms are designed to protect gasoline dispensers from vehicles. It's the same idea behind curbs in sidewalks.

Go to 00:56 and see the sump pit they encase in concrete.....I'm still trying to understand the pouring of the footings after the tank is set? I understand casting the anchors for the tank and column base plate anchors, but the actual footing? Maybe their terminology is different from mine?
