I remember reading last year that someone proposed this theory. That Plato heard about the remains of these "great walls", concluded that they must have been built by a great civilization, and logically "deduced" what said civilization must have been like.
Certainly makes a lot more sense than most of the other theories I've heard about Atlantis

There are very similar hexagonal pillars in the Pacific Northwest, here in the US. Known as the Columbia River flood basalts, they're present in various places along the Columbia River Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. They truly do not look natural unless you understand the mechanism.

The basaltic columns remind me of the same type of columns that formed from the giant basaltic lava floods in the Inland Northwest USA. My dad, being an anthropologist with a specialty in historic archeology had to often tell people who would dig them up at construction sites that they had not discovered the remains of an unknown civilisation (if there had been one, I would think the indigenous peoples would have had some sort of oral tradition concerning said culture). Much of the exposed basalt in the area are the result of the ice age Lake Missoula floods that scrubbed the landscape free of soil and left all sorts of features that are giant versions normal water features left behind by the vast amounts of water released by the breakup of a periodic glacier that closed off the exit of the lake that covered what is now Missoula Montana. The giant features carved by the floods cover most all of central Washington State and are known as the Channeled Scablands. The indigenous peoples still talk about the vast temporary river that shook the ground. The far older and much more impressive Lake Idaho, the size and volume of one of the Great Lakes, covered much of Idaho and was maintained by geological forces for so long, it has the richest biodiversity of fish ever recorded in the world based on its fossil record. It also emptied in a great flood that left behind riverstones the size and shape of large watermelons. Both the great Missoula floods and Lake Idaho would make good TH-cam video subjects.

They were used for rescue and medevac, but I guess they came later than when the guy got stranded, and were being prioritized for military use anyways.
