However, I wonder whether there was pressure from within the police department for them to plead guilty to avoid a trial because a trial would unearth other horrors that go beyond these six officers. This could not have been an isolated incident. Any arrest, charge, or conviction that involved these officers needs to be reviewed thoroughly.

They want the same protection from consequence in place for themselves. Derek Chauvin could have 10 black guards in charge of his safety and not a single one of them is going to fuck with him or let anything happen to him. There were at least 4 deaths reported from this department for 2021 alone from some of the same officers . I believe the guilty plea is their attempt to cover up the other deaths from coming to light. I hope those deeds come to light.

Cops or guards are never killed or tortured in prison. A few years back there was an error where an ex-cop got transferred to a place where the inmates could get at him and he was beat up. It was a national story because it was so rare.
Guards know that there’s always the chance they could wind up behind bars for their own crimes and violations, so the code is always to protect guards and cops-no matter what they’ve done. They want the same protection from consequence in place for themselves.

The DOJ just released an investigation report on the Minneapolis police department(the department tied to the death of George Floyd) and has found major malpractice, abuse and human right violations. They have also done reports on the Ferguson Police department and Baltimore Police Departments' Gun Task Force. We need more police reform. I can put links of the pdf files below.
