If you want rock groups, listen to Dreamcatcher! They’re the only girl group who consistently incorporate rock in their music. For boy groups, there’s Blitzers whose core sound seems to be electro rock. They’re quite new.
Idol groups aside, some Korean bands are Day6, Onewe, N.Flying, The Rose, FTIsland, and CNBLUE. FTIsland has some proper hard rock songs like Pray and Take Me Now.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m obsessed with rock music and made a mental note of all the kbands and rock-influenced groups and songs.

JYP historically haven't been great with managing their bands but I'm hoping they get the opportunity to thrive because it's what they deserve!

since you said you like rock here’s are some of my favs: Rolling Quartz (quite new girl band), Onewe (boy band, Aurora is a bop), Dreamcatcher (girl group), Blitzers (boy group, definitely more pop than the others but criminally underrated)

So I went through your page, added all of your XDINARY HEROES song reactions to the list and I'm going to binge-watch it!!!
My Music "Roots" (Reminds me of "Roots, bloody roots") from the 90's are Punk Rock, and when I started diving into kpop, I really fell hard, but something felt a little missing to me, then I found XDINARY HEROES and realized what I missed so much!!! Their own songs, their cover songs, everything is amazing and really "Scratches my itch" for the need for Punk music.
I really love them. As artists/musicians and as amazing people.
Jooyeon the bassit at the front is the maknae 2002 and the drummer Gun-il is the leader and the oldest 1998 :)

i love xh so much!! glad you checked them out ❤️ another group i'd highly recommend is a.c.e! they're not actually a rock group, but as someone who also loves rock some of my favorite songs of theirs are favorite boys and under cover which do have a rock influence and electric guitars and such, they're so so amazing and i think you might really enjoy them! a.c.e are incredible honestly and one of my favorite groups along with skz, they're also super sweet guys and their leader junhee starred in a bl webdrama last december! would love to see a reaction to them in the future
Really? Junhee in a BL drama!!! Which is the name? I love ACE… I am not part of the fandom but I love their music and performance. I had have the opportunity pf see them in concert in 2018 and their energy is not joke. I always wait for their comeback because they are really talent peolple.

You'll love TXT (Tomorrow by Together)! Their songs "0X1=LOVESONG" and "LO$ER=LO♡ER" have a rock / punk sound and the lyrics to their songs are really thoughtful ^^
They do any kind of genre out there and completely slay all of them, so every song of theirs is so different from the other, I think you'll be surprised :)

Glad you checked this out !! I was just thinking before you posted that they could have their first comeback soon. Just a hunch since all their active groups have gotten comebacks and Day6 are doing their military service so there is a slot open for them in the coming months.

I need somebody by day 6 I think is a pretty angst song. Though it could be seen as a love song, to me it’s more about needing someone in general rather than a person to love. It’s kind of old but it really good! I definitely think u should check it out!

YESSS was looking forward to this reaction since you posted on twitter about loving them!! i adore this song so much plus their covers (which i read thru some of the comments saying you reacted to them - can't wait to see!). I'd also recommend checking out their pre-debut member Origin and Performance videos. And their name is pronounced like X-dinary Heroes. :)
Another band suggestion would be Rolling Quartz with song "Blaze" - they're an all-girl rock band and totally badass. But yeah, totally feel you on wanting more gritty, angry non-love stuff in the kpop world at least. I've been listening to rock music since elementary school in the late 90s and I think I'll forever be a metalhead/emo kid lol.
I think one or a couple of them even went to Berklee College of music in the US
i love Xdinary Heroes. i wish there was more out there on them. it is refreshingly different. love Day 6 to and you know i love stray kids. you might like an older group called VIXX song Voodoo doll m/v. it is a very unusual video and 8 years old but for its time it is amazing. i love it and have added it to my YT one of a kind playlist.

Thank you for checking these guys out! Knowing that you love punk, just looking at the video title made me think you'll definitely like them. I do love me some rock elements in my K-Pop songs which is why most of my favorite songs from groups I follow are full-out rock or are rock-inspired.
Speaking of punk, the group I hold responsible for all the K-Pop mess I got myself into recently had a punk-ish comeback, "Tomboy" by (G)Idle. The lyrics aren't exactly the best and it's not exactly my favorite comeback of theirs, but the vibe and beat nail the punk concept so well! "Young" by Cix is a song I came across randomly and it's pretty much on the rock side. Though I haven't checked the lyrics yet, I enjoy that song sooo much even though I don't even know the group well.
I agree with your take on lyrics of songs. I enjoy a very well-made love song or two like (G)Idle's "Hann Alone in Winter", Oneus' "Luna" or N.Flying's "Spring Memories", but I really prefer songs that talk about anything else. I love songs that deliver a story (doesn't matter if I get it or not) like (G)Idle's "Oh My God", or topics about introspection/mental health like Stray Kids' "Slump" and "Awaken" and (G)Idle's "Moon". I used to love songs that talk about self confidence and self love but with too much girl crush and "I'm not like everybody else" kind of stuff lately, I've gotten very choosy with that (I love something along the vein of Mamamoo's "Hip" and Stray Kids "God's Menu" though). Regardless of the topic, Stray Kids Changbin is my favorite lyricist so far (Streetlight and Sorry I love You). I might actually try to learn Korean for real just to get the nuance of anything he writes so as not to lose anything in translation.
Lyrical content-wise, my absolute favorite is Stray Kids' "Chronosaurus" that likens time to a dinosaur chasing after you. It's a pretty odd summary of the entire song, but the lyrics just hit straight home (especially for someone who is nearing her 30s with unfulfilled dreams and a job based on time and deadlines). It has an MV and the track is pretty rock-inspired (not really punk rock, more industrial idk), so you might as well check it out.

As you mentioned SKZ's latest album - I guess all their previous albums also about different emotions and feelings. Of course they speak ab love but not romantic side.
One of my favorite gg is dreamcatcher and they are considered the rock group in kpop. I recommend 1. scream 2. Boca and 3. odd eye if u are new to them
hmmmmm, if you like rock, I think you'll appreciate A.C.E - Under Cover, a real head-banger song, I LOOOOVE it (coming from rock-metal-punk background)
If you want more band reccomendations I would highly suggest Onewe, their song 'Trauma (Aquarium)' especially. That song is written and composed by the members (specifically one member for this one). It doesn't have a mv but if you were to react to it then I would say to watch the lyric video by studioweus. For a song with a mv then 'Aurora' would be my pick.

one of my favorite groups!! sadly they only have 1 song yet but i hope they’ll be coming back with an album soon. i still can’t stop listening to their covers everyday even though they were released months ago, they’re just really really good!
Everyone gave great recommendations downthread but I was also pleasantly shocked when XH debuted. I knew of other mainstream k-rock bands but none of them hit nearly as hard as this song. I now love the rock band ONEWE but they still don’t hold a candle to the intensity of XH, which scratched an itch the rest of K-rock hasn’t quite been able to do.
But what I’m really here for is to tell you how hard I cackled when you commented on so many emos being bi. That statement is true AF.

I love XH too. Their covers are really good. Another group you might like is Kard. Not rock per se but some hard hitting beats I especially recommend Gun Shot, Dumb Litty and Inferno. Also Day6 are fantastic, I recommend Zombie

Then, not a band but TXT’s another one you might like to check out they’ve been incorporating more of a rock sound into their latest music too, especially Lo$er=Lover, Frost & 0X1=Lovesong (I know I Love You).
I love Xdinary Heroes. I can't wait until they release some more songs. I need more groups like this as well. I was always into rock/alternative, metal, emo, punk type stuff over the years (mostly 90s and 2000s). They have some covers, you should check those out (sorry can't think what ones they did off the top of my head).
You mentioned Day6 and they have some really good stuff that you may like. Sweet Chaos, Rescue Me, and Shoot Me are their less pop sounding ones that I love. You should check those out.

On another note, since you like rock/punk, there is a new song out that I've TOTALLY fallen in love with, I've had it on repeat all week, and I think you'd appreciate it. It's called "Windy Day" by BIGONE feat. JAY B (th-cam.com/video/gJhy4BkrDpM/w-d-xo.html). JAY B is the leader of KPOP group GOT7, I'm not sure if you've heard of them or not. They used to be under JYP, so they are very close with Day6 and Stray Kids. If you ever get the chance to check out GOT7's stuff, I think you might like it, but this song in particular I believe is right up your alley! Enjoy!!
I wish you would react to PIxy! They are a very unique girl group from a very small company with two excellent hard-hitting rappers with deep voices. Also they do have a dark concept. I really wish you could react to "Addicted" MV and "Bewitched eng ver" MV. They are the recent ones. Also "Wings", "Let me know", "Moonlight", "The moon" are good too
Also Tomboy, Oh My God and Lion from G IDLE are amazing. Tomboy and Lion is pretty much feminist and OMG is a song about lesbian love. They are a selfproducing group
