    Just tried this today. Moonballing way less and able to actually rip more forehand without worrying. Thanks!!

    Coach, I use a similar method. I put my wrist watch on my racquet hand. On the forehand, I make sure I’m looking at the time right after I swipe at the ball. It assures me of accelerating at the right time….before the hit.

      I've used this many times. I've also put stickers on the players hands. If I see the sticker on the thumb. It's flat
      If I see the sticker on the back of my hand. It's topspin.
      Glad your enjoying the channel.

    I discovered another exercise you might want to look into: have the student stand well behind the baseline and hit forehands so the ball hits the opposite fence before bouncing. This is a long forehand shot, but the only way to do it is to loosen the wrist. It's impossible to hit the opposite fence without a loose wrist. The higher you can hit on the opposite fence, the looser your wrist is. Now, it's possible to cheat this with a 45 degree launch angle, so keep the angle down closer to 30 degrees. Once the student can do this, it's just a matter of adding the dip of the head to initiate pronation and topspin, and the ball starts to come down. It's just an exercise to loosen the wrist. I'm very pleased with how effective it is. Keep up the great work!

    I’m sorry but in the Alcaraz clip I can’t notice when he does the raquet catching with the thumb on top. Which # ball was it?

    Thanks Steve but you mean thumb up on racquet hand or other hand that catches the racquet?

  • @parvathube

    I need a help, Coach! Let's say I have a pre defined arc of the ball. Now, what should be the path of the racquet and it's dynamics? It would be even better if you can answer to this question keeping in mind contact point at different heights

    • @oneminutetennis
      @oneminutetennis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A written opinion involving different heights is too involved to answer here. Sorry.
      At waist height... Simply think that the shape that the ball shows you is the shape that you have shown the ball
      If you make a 🌈 shaped stroke. You'll get a rainbow shaped ball.It's great that your enjoying the site.

    I don't see why couldn't you catch the racket in the same way in both of your strokes. Is it the distance of the handle from the body that differs?

    • @oneminutetennis

      Hi.
      Have you tried it?
      With the thumb on the bottom you can make a classical stroke, or you can make a pronated stroke.
      With the thumb on the bottom you can only make a pronated stroke.
      It's hard to explain more on this platform.
      But classic strokes have two links in the kinetic chain. Pronated strokes have four links to the kinetik chain.

      I enjoy your channel very much! I have problem with the swing at home :) Looking forward to try this on court.. For now it seems to me that it is more natural to take it with the thumb up only when overpronated

      @@oneminutetennis If I understood the video correctly, I think you need to edit the second statement to read thumb on top.
      Interesting concept. First time I've heard the term pronation used on ground strikes. I love using the whoosh sound to illustrate where the acceleration needs to be (prior to contact!)
      Keep up the good work Coach.

      Very confused. Your magnified finishing positions show the non dominant hand in reversed thumb positions, how does this affect contact? Could you show a slow motion swing to clarify?

    • @oneminutetennis
      @oneminutetennis ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The follow through effects the swing path through contact.
      They are connected.
      Think of the Olympics. Say the 100m.
      Why do they have tape on the finish line? Why not a finish wall?
      Would the athletes run differently if it was a finish wall? Obviously.
      The ending effects the movements before it. Even in something as simple as running.
      Have you tried this ending I demonstrate?
