My grandpa (rest in peace), farmed for many many decades, and as far back as I can remember, there was always a Gleaner on the farm. He loved it and went as far as saying "there's nothing out there that can compete with this" the pride he had in his combine was unlike anything I've ever seen. Thanks for this video. I've been getting more and more into farming in the past few years and love to see good content like this. I'm going to have to track one down locally and see if I can catch a ride.

Used to be a lot of Gleaners in my part of Minnesota. Especially the F series and then there were a lot of N6 series for the big guys. The first time I ever saw a 12 row corn head it was on an N series. There are a few around me besides my R52. I guy a mile from me just dumped his Massey and bought an R62 and my uncle had an R40 until he reired last year and sold it. A cousin 3 miles away has a R65 and there are others. A guy I am trying to rent his farm from has an R40.... he is 86 years old though. There are still a few F series in the area including one a mile from me, a green stripe F3 and it is a beautiful machine. I have an L2 in the shed that I am going to try to sell this year.

I'm not a farmer. I've never operated a combine. My only experience with Gleaner is my neighbor is a farmer and has always had Gleaner. He started with an N5, then an R62, now an S77. I've always wanted to help during harvest season, but never had the chance to. I have rode with him in the cab several times, and it was always fun. If I was a farmer or custom harvest business, I'd most certainly run Gleaners. They are the best looking, best performing in the business imo.

On the competing combines often the pan covering the rear axel is shiny-no paint.
Considering the grain just falls by gravity on that when its going out the back end think how much grain is required to do that? A lot. Also don't forget to check the most important belt on that beauty daily. The AC :)

Our first Gleaner was a 1981 L2. I was 13 years old. The cab was way ahead of its time. Then we switched to Caseih 1680. Then we upgraded to Caseih 8120. The 8120 is good combine but the repairs and maintenance is expensive. This year I blew a front tire on it. caseih from factory did not put the proper rated tires on it. They came with tires that are rated for 18 ton but they did not allow for the extra weight of the header and the grain in the hopper. I will be switching to another brand.
