  • In this video I'll walk you through the Numeric Racing Adjustable Short Shifter install in my 2002 (996) Porsche 911 Targa.
Created entirely in my garage with only a handheld light and an old iPhone 6s plus; and boy does it show. ;-)
Here's the link to Numeric's amazing shifter if you're interested in purchasing it: store.numericr...

I installed mine on my 2007 997 GT3 RS. installed the shifter and the cables. I love it. You can feel the teeth of the gear box the feed back is so raw. Personally I set it up on the longest throws. I prefer it that way as the shift is still shorter than stock but you need a lot less effort to shift. The cables were actually not that hard to do but a lift is preferable and a second set of hands to push and pull at the same time.

Hi! Great work, nicely done. How do you compare numeric kit to the other ones on the market - there are quite a few much cheaper ones. Does expensive mean better in your personal opinion? I’m considering ordering numeric kit, it looks well made and robust, how does shifting feel? Regards , Thorwald

In my search for this car I got to drive cars with stock shifters, GT3 shifters (in a C2) and this Numeric shifter. The Numeric shifter wins against those others hands down. While the GT3 shifts felt crisp, they weren’t as ‘bolt action’ as numeric’s shifts and they were longer. Maybe there’s other ones out there that might be cheaper/better but I’m super happy with this purchase. I also didn’t upgrade the cables because my car has very very low miles. This thing is built like a tank and the shifts feel amazing. Will actually be upgrading engine mounts soon and should improve the shifts even more. Hope that helps

@@smallbloc Many thanks for your reply, I value your opinion - once you’ve driven different models with a different shifters etc seems the numeric is the one to go. My C4S is reasonably low miles but a shifter feels loose and throws are pretty long compared to my modified 993 C2. It definitely needs doing. Many thanks again!

Leave the shifter exposed. Ditch the console. Save a couple pounds.

I'd like to eventually get it painted to match the arctic silver exterior. Though I dig the idea of exposing the shifter cause it's so dang beautiful. Center console compartment is still useful though ;-)
