Mawlana Hazar Imam's Golden Jubilee Darbar in Canada (English)

His Highness The Aga Khan's two-part Golden Jubilee visit to Canada began on 18 November 2008, in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, where he was received, in a ceremonial welcome, by Honourable Ministers John Baird and Jason Kenney. Whilst in Ottawa, The Aga Khan met with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, as well as various government ministers. Proceeding to Toronto, The Aga Khan met with the Ontario Premier, the Honourable Dalton McGuinty, and Canada’s Minister of International Cooperation, the Honourable Bev Oda, who also attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Aga Khan and McMaster Universities. In Calgary, The Aga Khan met with the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Honourable Norman Kwong, followed by a reception and luncheon hosted by the Aga Khan University. The Aga Khan's last stop was in Vancouver where a luncheon was hosted in his honour by British Columbia Premier, the Honourable Gordon Campbell.
