On my Rex the ball joints broke I was EXTREMLY careful to say the least and the ball fell off so I Lost the articulation on the legs of my Rex too expencive for the quality of the kit it is made from plastic that snaps easly
How would you go about painting it? Would you remove all the limbs, take it all apart or paint it as a whole. Thanks for the reply if you do. Would be nice to see the painting process from one that is already built.
I didn't do much in the way of a WIP for this kit while painting it. You can find some photos of the masking process here: goodguydangunpla.blogspot.com/2015/04/micro-tutorial-masking.html I striped this kit down to the component parts, and painted the individually where possible.
Yeah, this is the Guns of the Patriots version. Ocelot removed the tail by that point, I'm guessing it wasn't a very practical part or it got in the way.
The prototype had the tail, as cool as it was i think it probably had its problems so by an R&D standpoint was removed, lol hideo never really explained it, but he definitely would do something where in game canon has developmental evolutions on vehicles and such...
Based on what I have experienced? No, the design of the kit will not allow it to stand without some assistance. You can use different types of stands if you prefer.
REX was built with great care by Octacon, one of the greatest minds in the entire series. RAY was built by pawns of the Patriots to combat against rogue Metal Gears, but it couldn't even handle a damaged Rex that had been rusting away for 10 years. REX was built to last even after being defeated in 2005. It's the quintessential Metal Gear.
I wish Kotobukiya make a premium version of this kit, wich is Desperado version with tail and turrets
I don't think Kotobukiya has ever reprinted the base model of the kit. But yes, variants of the basic Ray kit would be awesome.
@@GunplabyGoodGuyDan It's getting a reprint scheduled for April, according to the Kotobukiya website

Thanks for the review. I was looking to find one just the other day.
I wonder if they will make the one that Raiden fights in MGR with big Sword hehe
Maybe, but I think we'd see the MGS2 version with a tail first though.
+Gunpla by GoodGuyDan (GoodGuyDan) are you gonna get the Sahelanthropus kit I am
+Blerim Kamberi I'm taking a break from buying kits until I clear out my backlog. But, if they're still available after I'll definitely get one.
The modded metal gear ray? Hell yes I want that

Great piece.
so no long tail as in mc farlene metal gear ray?
Right
the marine version from the tanker incident has a tail and spiked knees.
this is the AI version.

ah is the AI version has diffrent size compare the pilot one? i didnt play MGS2.

Can any ray model(including this) stand unassisted?

subbed because "dan"
Saw the model.... "wow looks really neat"
Saw the Decals...."FUCK NO!"
Decals aren't bad, but the masking was terrible,
I have proof that REX is better

These are the mass produced rays, but the prototype and the one from mgr are mega strong, I think they are stronger than rex
@@V1ncenz010 Isnt this the original prototype ray from the start of mgs2 that revolver escaped with at the end. The mass produced models were unmanned
wait why does he not have a tail wtf!?
The MGS4 version didn't have a full tail.
oh yeah i forgot
What tools did you need to build Ray?
Here's the list:

@@GunplabyGoodGuyDan oh I meant for the kit itself I got most tools needed I am just curious
