This is a video showing the simple process of changing the clock in the Crystal version of the 2nd generation of Pokémon. I did not discover this and do not want to take credit, this is just a loose guide for those out there still playing this on Gameboy color or 3DS.

Here again in case anyone still doesn't get it to work:
1. press select+b+down
2. let go of b and down while keeping select pressed
3. press up+left while still keeping select pressed
4. let go of select while keeping up and left pressed.

If you still need help for the password, there is a link in the description that can generate it for you, once you fill out the in-game information it requests. (Name, Money amount, ID number)
Sleepers are very scarce early on in Crystal, especially good ones. If trade is available then, Gengar or Politoad are fantastic. If no trade available, then Bellsprout, Poliwrath (Not the best tbh), or waiting for some better options. Early game sleepers usually have their best form locked behind trade or stone evolution.
If you want to wait till after the third badge, Stantler is a great normal type, though might fail to get some KO's.
Another option is waiting until well into the game to get Jynx in Ice Path. Though you could use the Lucky Egg and use Smoochum, though it is a long road for that one.
Those are the only options that I can think of off the top of my head, sorry if this doesn't help.
Umm, all you had to do was talk to her to adjust for DST. You could turn in off and on just by talking to her.
The best sleeper is smergle.. you need to lvl up a paras that knows spore to 25 lvl and after (on 26) evolve it to parasect for over speed the smergle.. spore is 100% accuracy.. is 100% sleep

if you're using My Oldboy, it's the firt rectangle button from left to right

Check out his description. He has a link where it generates your password using put in-game ID, money, and in-game name. It worked for me

I did it on my crystal on my 3ds and it told me the save data would be wiped

Yes that is the correct order, though it is let go of down and b while still holding select. I made a note in the description, as I said the wrong direction input in the video, which I said was left and right. That is the correct combination, it is a tight input timing though.

That means you did the clear data combination of button, those being B + select + Up. You want to press down + select + B, then let go of down and B while keeping select pressed. Then hold left and up and after that letting go of select. That should get you the menu you wanted. It is a very tight timing.

If you're using 3DS VC, just change the TIME in the 3DS settings. Works exactly the same, - risk and +you can switch it back.
That is a valid point for the 3DS VC, but the video works for all versions of the game. Emulated, actual cartridge, and VC.
Though you are right, if you are on VC changing the clock in settings is way better.
@@ManyHours Just in case what I said created doubts about the video. This method does indeed work on ALL versions of the game, I actually tried it (on3DS). But got spooked when I heard I could loose my save data when using the wrong code. *( I never confirmed it could happen btw)*
If you use the wrong code it will just tell you that you put in the wrong code. You can turn the game off and then back on to see your save file is still safe.
I should of shown what happens if you put in the wrong password. Thank you for you comment, something to add in future videos!

Yep, it is a very tight timing on any system though, keep trying with it and there are plenty of comments on this video that can help.

Sorry for the delay, but it is a tight timing and not many tips can help out. I recommend making sure you have the right combination down and doing it slow, while speeding it up every time. Eventually you'll get it.
In what way is your money and ID combined to make the password?
It involves a pretty complicated formula, simple solution is too use the link in the description.

It could be that you are pushing the wrong combination, it is a very tight combination.

Then the game automatically restart and put me on the title screen and when I select continue, the game just put me in with the same time set I choose at the start of the game. How can I fix this?
@@loopetto4925 Pokemon Gold uses a different button combination of holding down, Down, Select, B at the title screen to change the time. Pokemon Crystal uses the way showed in the video as the Gold/Silver way was taken out.

@@ManyHours same thing, the game accept the password but when the console automatically restart and when I select "Continue" The game still keep the time clock I have choose at the start... Also, I'm in early game I just got the first Gym Medal, I can try to restart the game and see if it is just a bug or something else...
@@loopetto4925 Honestly, I wouldn't really know why the issue is happening. I have several guesses, but I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.
My guesses would be fake cartridge, battery issues, or just damage to the actual cart. I don't know what would stop you from changing time.
How do I do this on emulator for android
It is very tough on android, but I have seen someone do it. It is just a question of how much time you want to put into it. The button combination is hard enough normally, on android it becomes a nightmare.

You are putting in the wrong code then, there are two codes, one for save file deletion and one for Clock reset.

@@regice3242 It has to be a Bellsprout sadly, you can't really trade with another pokemon for that onix in particular. Bellsprout can be found outside Dark Cave, or the little cave you found on the way to the town with the trade.

It works on GBA, just know it is a tight button combination.

if you do it well the game will gonna ask you if you what to reset the clock, if isn't happens, just release all buttons and repeat from step 1.

Yes it in fact does, but you can also change your 3DS clock to manipulate the clock on virtual console. Either one works.
@@ManyHours I did that, I changed to where it was thursday but the time was 11:59 so then it was friday while I played but Lapras wasnt there still.
If you are in the dungeon when you change the clock, it won't appear. Change the day to Friday and enter the dungeon.
I was trying to complete the johto dex, but i dunno what happened, the encounters that appear just in a expecific time of day don't appear at all, and i don't know what to do anymore. I think my in game clock is the problem, that's why i came here, but fix it did'n work. If someone out there can help me, i would apreciate.
(Obs: i whote this post here because i don't really know where else i can find a solution, i aready tried google it, but did'n find anything usefull.)
When you are in a specific area and you are waiting/changing the clock you have to leave and reeneter the area to have time change in that place.
An example is Lapras in Union Cave, if you enter the room on a Wednesday, no matter what you do in there, it will not appear on Friday. You have to leave the room then go back in, Lapras will then be there.
It is the same with time oriented Pokemon, leave the route, then come back and it should work.
If you have been doing this, I honestly have no idea, sounds like a dead battery problem, or something of the like. Let me know if you find a fix as it sounds very interesting to know about.
Well, i did'n was able to fix it, but i got an temporary solution for that at least. Some time base encounters i was able to find, such as phanpy, spinarak, gastly and teddiursa. But some just do not appear like sunkern and dunsparce (i know that dunsparce is a 1% encounter, but i spend half an hour trying to find a surkern in the national park.) The thing that i did was trade some of the pokemon that i could'n find. But i will try to figure out what could be going on with my game. Also, thanks a lot for the advice, really helped me. I will try the time reset one last time tho

DUDE, MY GAME IS WORKING AGAIN!
i was playing and the game crashed, and i reseted the time again, so, when i was passing by ice tunnel, i found a sneasel (a pokemon that i did not find before) and right after a delibird. Since they're pokemon that appear just at night, the next day i went to the national park to find a sunkern (and i did it in less that 3 minutes!) So i did more tests with more pokemon (like houndour,murkrow and some more) and manege to find them! Now i'm with more than 200 pokemon in my dex! Thanks again for the help, now i can actually complete the dex!

It is possible, but if on PC, most emulators will copy your time. So if you set it manually it might change it. Not sure, but hopefully this helps.
you can use cheat code "010464CF" while on title screen (press A/Z afterwards) to change time. you still need to know password tho

You only use the first five letters, it is also case sensitive.

It doesn’t work on vc
If done correctly, it will work on vc. This is because they used a seperate clock from the the 3ds internal one.
Make sure you have the correct code, one number off and it won't work. You have to find your own code based on your own save file.

1. Set PC time to whatever you want (maybe + 1 day in calendar)
2. Restart PC
3. Load your emulator save. And have fun in day or night time.

Wrong button combination, there's been a few people that have commentated the same thing, and sorry to hear about the lost file. If you try again, just make sure you read the text boxes, though I think you'll be more weary now.

Corrupted my save file.
That means your battery died, that is the only way I know for a Pokemon Crystal Cart to corrupt.

Earlier I left a comment saying how it wasn't working for me. I feel like an idiot now lol! When you said "Left" I thought you meant the left bumper, like the things on the back of the 3DS, not the D pad! It was probably obvious to most, but I think some people might have made the same mistake as me, anyways thanks for this video! Btw I did it first try when I realized it was left on the D-pad, pretty simple method.

I check it on MyBoy emulator and actually works, but I needed at least 4-5 fails for each susessful try.
The process is:

Blame the game designers, they were trying to prevent us from abusing the clock, which was done in gold and silver.

If the emulator is emulating the exact version of Pokemon Crystal that was released, then yes. It should work if you put the correct button combination and the correct password.

What is my password?
There is a link in the description to find your password. Put the first five letters of your in game name (Caps matter), your trainer id number, and the money you have in game. You can see all of this info on the trainer card in the game.
For example my name was ROSS, with an ID number of 38684, and a total money amount at the time of 172,027. I put those numbers in the calculator and I get the password 01170, which I use in the video.
Remember that Caps matter for your name and only use the first 5 letters. If you money changes at all in game, make sure to update it for the correct password.

Select just brings me to the menu screen
Then you are hitting the soft reset combination. There are three known combinations, one resets the game, one deletes the save file, and one changes the clock. If you are on emulator, you could of put select as the reset key on accident.

There is a link in the description. First 5 letters of your name (Case-sensitive), amount of money your character has, and your ID number in game. Should give you a code which should be your password, if you did it right.

You need to hold sel+down+b, then release down+b, then press left+up without release select, and keep it (select+left+up) for a few seconds. The reset clock message must apears then. But not ever work at the first try so keep trying until works.
Pressing left and right compared to up and down is such a distinct difference, I didn’t look at the comments until now 😤

The calculator still works, so something on your end. Make sure your name is correct, capitalization does matter.

It is a very tight button combination. Sometimes, even if I feel like I got it, I was still to slow.
If you follow the steps for the calculator in the description, that should get you the required password.

@@meloo-er76 I haven't found a emulator that doesn't work with it, but on mobile it is a disaster to get it to work. Too picky of a combination with how floaty the buttons are on mobile. I wish you luck, but it is already a difficult input, adding mobile on top of that... Sorry I can't help make it easier.
